      @@buhshmuh you guys are lucky g3cs for that price is great. I paid 289 for my g3c and 245 for my wifes g2c. Under 500 for 2 pistols is not bad. But this was 3 years ago. But i regret it not both decent pistols. Ours will eat steel aluminum brass hollow points and fmjs alike. And both shot right out the box. Like mine and my wifes no break in period.

    My favorite budget pistol is the Beretta APX. They’re excellent pistols and I see them regularly under $400 with rebates. It’s a pistol that’s backed by a very reputable firearms company with a long track record of law enforcement and military sales. It started back during the Army handgun trials around 2016, so you know it’s going to have duty-grade build quality. Insanely cheap for what you get. I would put it right up there with CZ and Canik for great value guns.

    I was happy to see Taurus made your list. As a first time gun buyer at 63y.o., when I went shopping for a firearm, I was somewhat gravitated to a Taurus firearm and settled on the G3. Two things I took into consideration; 1 how it would fit into my hand (I have average size hands) and 2, how easy the trigger would work. Needless to say I am very happy with my purchase and I like this firearm very much. I’ve only had it for about 10 days and have only put 100 rounds thru it as of this comment. I bought this firearm for self/home defense as where I live is remote and would take law enforcement a good 20 minutes minimum (that’s with lights/siren) to get here. But I am also enjoying target practice with it as well.

      If you're intention is home defense, you should really get a shotgun for that. Double 00 buckshot contains 9 metal balls that are basically the same size as 9mm. So you're delivering nine separate 9mm holes with one trigger pull. I use the Stevens 320 Security by Savage Arms. You can find them for as little as 200 bucks. I recommend a pump action model out the gate but whichever u choose, less parts = more reliable

    • @martyneff4008
      @martyneff4008 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not a rifle or shotgun guy. A shotgun for me is like a goldfish needing a mountain bike.
      I don't handle them well or fluidly so I just avoid them. I have a Marlin 336 rifle and it would be the last thing I'd grab.
      Shooting a shotgun isn't natural but a handgun is. I don't see the point of buying one and spending the cash for the weapon and ammo plus trying to train

      So I take it you've got a bit of land
      Please just keep in mind that handgun has what, a 12rd mag of 9mm? They are great carry guns but idk about home defense especially one with some land/open space.
      I would also look into getting a little rifle (ruger American is a real light one for a bolt and multi cal options) with a small scope for outside or a shotgun w/slugs

      If you take a good strong hand firing grip, and bring it up to your chest above the breast, reach over and use the tips of your fingers and pad of the non-firing hand, not use a slingshot (with thumb and index finger). From that position, push with your firing hand and stay solid with your non-firing hand, once you have moved your firing hand about 2 inches, release your grip on non-firing hand and you will be able to rack almost any pistol

  • @jasonjulian1

    All great gun choices!
    Love my Canik tp9da, such a sweet shooter.
    On HiPoints.... When I was younger and poor, living in govt housing in a rough neighborhood, that $129 HiPoint 45 saved my ass more times than I was comfortable with. But it was all I had and it did the job.
    But here we are 20 years later, and when you can get so many better guns for under $300... Heck, Taurus G3c can be had for $250 plus a rebate.
    The minimum standard of "a good gun" has been raised over the years. You can get a reliable and accurate pistol for so much less cash than it used to take.
    And of course, spending more just gets you so much more as well. Rising rides and all boats and all that.

    • @WarriorSoul357
      @WarriorSoul357 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      One of the two biggest complaints about the Hi-Point, ends up as actually two of it's biggest strengths. It's heavy, and it's blocky.
      The weight REALLY helps reduce muzzle flip on a Hi-Point. The weight, and that blockiness, REALLY turns it into a nasty weapon if ends up coming to hand to hand.
      You smack somebody in the head or face with one of them, and they know it. It's not that difficult to put cracks in a skull with a moderate swing, using a Hi-Point.

    I'm big on the Caniks. Canik Elite SC is my EDC and HD weapon.
    As for the G3. Particularly the double strike capability. There's something that a LOT of people overlook, with having that capability. And it's not about having a light primer strike, which... IS something that could happen, NO argument there.
    It's if your weapon gets knocked out of battery.
    And end up with a dead trigger.
    I did a lot of fighting as a kid. In an up close, in your face altercation where somebody has a weapon. The very first thing the person who is fighting against that weapon is going to do, is attempt to control that weapon. Doesn't matter what kind of weapon it is. Gun, stick, knife, stun gun, tear gas spray, doesn't matter. As soon as they see it, they will attempt to control it. That is one of the ONLY *certain* things that you can predict in a grapple fight.
    In the case of a semi-auto pistol, all that grappling greatly increases the chances of the slide getting moved back. I myself, have, after a lot of experience, TRAINED to do that, the very first thing. Because an out of battery semi pistol won't fire.

I prefer canik in auto striker fired pistols because of the durability and the trigger. I carry a first generation shield because of it's size. I prefer overall pistols are 1911 pistols for the triggers and overall feel. Most modern firearms are going to be reasonably reliable because there's just so much competition and raw material availability. Pick your price point and get a gun, and practice.

    Great Glock style sights with an all black rear sight blade,, awesome... !
    Great Trigger. loads of magazine options available, Comes with 3-12 round factory magazines, but 15 and 17 sleeved magazines are available from Taurus USA that extend the grip surface for a reasonable price... !
    And is a near perfect Gen-3 Glock clone.

    Surprised, you didn't mention the Springfield XD. They are affordable, accurate, and reliable. I've had one for years it went bang every time I have pulled the trigger. I shoot it a lot better than the Beretta 92. It's also the same size as a Glock 19.

    • @stanthebamafan
      @stanthebamafan 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Springfield XD is universally hated by firearms instructors for being overpriced Croatian junk. There’s one instructor who has documented catastrophic firearm failures in his class over decades, and he says XDs fail more than every other gun combined.

    • @devildog8768
      @devildog8768 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @stanthebamafan Well, all I can say is I have thousands of rounds through my XD without one single failure. Maybe the instructor is bais and doesn't like Springfield. First, the XD is actually overbuilt compared to other pistol selling in that price range. I don't like what Springfield did years ago, but if they make a good product and it's the type of firearm that I want, then I won't walk away and go with some that isn't has good. That's me and my opinion I won't hold anything against you if you disagree.

I've been shooting 9mm since I was 12 and I've had a conceal carry permit since 2000 and being 71 and handicapped that CCW permit is even MORE IMPORTANT NOW than before, I couldn't run away from a threat even if it was Godzilla was after ME.🤔😓😲😖😮‍💨 I have numerous small selfdefense pistols Sig 365, S&W Shield Plus PS 4", CZ 2075 Rami 75 all 9mm then I have 22lrs: Beretta 71 Jaguar, Walther PPk/s, Kel-Tec P17 and Ruger LCP II. i've owned a few on your list, and liked them, my personal favorite the S&W and the Ruger, but almost all of them are what the USCCA calls teer 2 guns, and my current personal carry is a teer 1 Springfield XD-9 Defender and if you get the base pack with gun, 1 mag and a carry bag it's like $300 bucks for a teer 1 combat and police proven pistol with 16 +1 in the 9 and then when i got mine Springfield sent me free a bigger pistol/range bag and 3 more 16 round mags. the XD is a Proven military and police pistol, here in the states the XD is issue in Los Angeles, Houston, and Chicago in our bigger cities and various divisions of our own military use the XD for it's low cost and being always reliable, in fact many outfits prefered the XD to the Beretta and even more now prefer the XD to the new Sig Saur

    The Ruger security nine was the first pistol that I ever bought three years ago. Absolutely love the gun. I think it’s ideal for a beginning shooter. Feels great in the hand. Upgraded the trigger with the Galloway, short stroke, and of course, fiber optics in the front and back. Just a very very good solid pistol if you want something basic and especially again…. if you’re a beginner. Another phenomenal gun that was discontinued. way too soon that I also own is the Walther Creed. Phenomenal shooter for less than $400

    Caniks are a great value. I have a couple, fantastic triggers on both. Security 9 is also a nice choice. If you're someone with hand issues who finds 9mm to kick more than they're comfortable with, the Security-380 is just as nice. If you want a bit of an oddball choice...you can currently get a Steyr M9A2 for $325, and that's a fantastic gun. The sights take some getting used to but once you do they're very nice.

    I'll add one.
    Even though the Diamondback DB9 (Gen 4...don't know about G1, G2, & G3 definitely had their issues they were working out) is small, and a light pistol, and sucks at the range because it smacks the hand so hard you were done after half a box of 50. This little thing will shoot ANY ammo, EVERY time. Put a primer, and powder in a 9x19 Vienna Sausage, and it'll shoot it. I think when the first Gen 4 hit the market, I paid $275 total to have it home.
    Down side; it comes with two 6 round single stacks...so 13 rounds carried WITH a mag change. But mine has never failed with anything I put in it, and I put it through the test. It's in my CCW rotation with a few other weapons that can double stack 10 to 15 rounds---but are MUCH heavier.

    The restrike capability in the Taurus pistols (or any DA/SA gun) allows for dry fire practice without racking the slide every time. Also the trigger pull is in the heavier mode (cocks the hammer or the striker back) which if you can master that, then the easier single action trigger pull will be golden.

    The ruger security 9s in my area were almost hundread dollars more.
