That was a good primer for budding genealogists. This semi-experienced genealogist liked it, too.

There are over 260 videos on the channel. I recommend you subscribe to the channel if you have not done so already.

The disadvantages you have given are exactly the type of problems I've been facing for many years. Since I have over 2000 names in my family tree with many cousin marriages, another drawback with these charts is that they do not show the inter-marriages unless you do it manually by cuttting and taping. Therefore, I have no time for that and prefer to represent my family using Libre Office Draw which I only discovered recently from Useful Charts' youtube channel. It is not a genealogical software and you have to do everything manually. However, at the end of the day it would at least represent my entire family exactly how I want it represented. Until a better software comes along, I will continue using my old PAF (and PAF Companion) software for data entry but use Libre Office Draw for designing the chart myself. There is no software out there that I know of that solves my problem.

Thanks for this recommendation. I'd not heard of it, but have been challenged to find free software to do trees and other graphics the way I want them done. Thanks.

Connie, if I’m using a window pc computer and want to switch to a Mac, will my gedcom file created on the pc import to a Mac computer? Thank you!

It should, but I don't know that for sure. I would wait to download the Gedcom until you get the mac. Also know that GEDCOM's only export the data, not the records or the image files.

I feel like a complete idiot but where do I find the links? I am looking for a family group sheet form and other forms.

Go to the description and click read more. It will open up the description box. You are not alone. Lots of people have trouble finding it.

Can I transfer my Ancestry.com family tree of 23,000+ to genealogy.com family tree?

I don't know much about Genealogy.com but if you can upload a Gedcom file to them, then yes you should be able to.
