This is so nostalgic, I remember watching a lot of Gen 3 Pokémon videos like this when I was a kid. I didn't understood them very much and got confused when I tried the stuff that it showed and nothing happened, but I always liked them.
The one that stands out in my personal memory made no pretense of being an actual thing you could do in the game, it was just the player going into their Secret Base and fighting an NPC the video uploader modded in with a team of all the Gen4 monsters that had been revealed while “Faint” by Linkin Park played in the background.

I love how you don’t explain why you specifically need a level 77 Sudowoodo or a level 100 Salamence, or why you need to weaken it before using the Master Ball

For those saying it doesn’t work, the person who made the video forgot to mention that your in game play time has to be 77 hours and 77 minutes exactly when you use dig with your Sudowoodo that must be level 77. You’re supposed to figure out to use level 100 salamence with cut after beating the elite 4 77 times, and you’re supposed to figure out to use sudowoodo by beating Giovanni with the album in the 7th slot in your inventory. Please note that your in game clock will not go to 77:77 unless you do the steps leading up to it, and will just go to 78 hours before the minutes pass 60 Also, yes, you should weaken Grandon before using the master ball. Even if using cheats you must do this. If he’s not at exactly 33% health, the catch rate will only be 0.77%. You’re also supposed to throw it on the 77th turn, or it will only have a 0.77% chance of working, which compounds with the 0.77% chance if he’s not at 33% health - the person making this video got incredibly lucky if he did this first try
For us shiny hunters, if you defeat two Lv. 7 Poochyenas with Blaziken after using Growl 77 times then catch 77 Feebas and visit Mirage Island 77 times, you have a 0.77% chance of Grandon being shiny
You know, considering the Gen 3 games are pretty themed around ancient times (the box legendaries being responsible for terraforming the planet and the Regis representing different ages of humankind alongside Regigigas, who pulled the goddamn continents apart), Grandon actually fits. Putting obvious Grand Dad and "album" references aside, I can imagine it being in lore a type of mythical pokemon similar to Mew, being the "missing link" between humans and pokemon. On another hand, it could flip this idea and instead be the common ancestor between multiple species of humanoid pokémon. It also would work as an opposite to how the human species came to be in the real world: the various species that existed went extinct with only one remaining, while Grandon's single species diversified into many. I also love the overespecific things you have to do and have to get to find this pokemon, reminds me of those old rumors back in gen 1 that claimed if you do a set amount of things you can discover this super powerful, secret pokemon. I just wonder what typing Grandon is now, apart from Rock.

Well, it's more sensible than collecting all 150 'mons in both Red and Blue, trading a Dragonair to make it evolve into a Dragonite, then walking ALL the way back to Mewtwo's former location in the unknown dungeon, then using a Fire Stone to make it into a Yoshi. (eXpert Gamer, April 1999, or maybe '98)

I remember when I was a kid and saw a video just like this. It was "How to Catch Rayquaza in Pokemon Black." The "method" involved buying 333 of a certain type of mail and then going to the Abyssal Ruins. Here you had to follow a very specific route and at each of the pedestals you had to trash 111 of the main 3 times at 3 different pillars. Then at the final pillar you have to trash a "Volcano Cookie", a very rare item in Gen 5. Then escape the Abyssal Ruins without getting kicked out and immediately fly to the city that Skyla is in. Then travel to the celestial tower and reach the top, then Ring the bell 3 times. After you ring the bell for the third time Rayquaza would appear. This whole video ended up being a massive hoax accomplished using a ROM Hack, but I believed it completely and tried desperately to summon Rayquaza spending YEARS trying to get a Volcano Cookie but never could. I think it was the TH-camr MunchingOrange who posted the video.

It's technically obtainable! It can be found on Mirage Island, which has ~1/64,000 odds to apppear, every time you change up your party.
