In my opinion this is the most underrated Pink Floyd song, and it happens to be on the most underrated album. OBC was recorded in a couple week span in the middle of the Dark Side of the Moon's creation/refining over 1972. While DSOTM is amazing and definitely benefited from over a year of evolving live and in the studio, the band was obviously at a creative peak, being able to throw this together in a matter of a couple weeks. A great collaborative effort from the boys.
+Justin Vavala Yeah, i really love Obscured by clouds. I dont think its underrated by people who have heard it, but i dont think alot of people have listened to the work before Dark side of the moon. The music is also less spectacular than their other work, still amazing, but not as groundbraking. Def one of my favourite pink floyd albums!
i absolutely love "More'. Along with the unreleased 'Zabriski Point' soundtrack they are probably the most unique and spontaneous expressions of their creativity from their whole career ('66 - '83).
What a photograph. That moment in time is such a mark on time where it captures the entire movement of Pink Floyd and the impact they had. Such an impact that almost 60 years later they are still reverence as gods . They say imitation is the best flattery . Every teenager since the 70s have tried to duplicate Gilmore and the rest of the band. It's easy once someone shows you, but to come up with it and call it your own. That's a whole different playing field. That why they were professionals. That's why they were Pink Floyd !
+n13roy Time already existed though. They played it earlier in the set at this gig actually. The live renditions of Childhood's End very much sound like the embryo :-) of SOYCD in their middle sections.
This was the band at its peak. I am speechless. This was mind warping. I do wish the audio quality was better but that's no one's fault. The whole thing is great but the mid section was my favorite. Thank you for posting this!
I loved this song eversince I heard it for the first time. At that time I could not identify the voices or styles of Gilmore and Waters or even be aware of the "Pink Floyd unique drumming pattern", but that is a classic. Thank you so much for this version. I always thought the original version was way to short, it always left me wanting more. Now I got it.
This is a prime example of a Floyd song that sounds far better live than it's studio counterpart. I love this version and the St Louis version also here on TH-cam. More grittier (dare I say grungy) which fits the music and the lyrics.
This Lp is def one of my top Floyd Lps, one i reach for more than the rest at this point, Atom Heart Mother, Ummagumma, More, Meddle and this were a really interesting time for them judging from all the bootlegs i have heard of this era, some of my fave stuff. I have heard a few great bootlegs of Obscured by Clouds/When You're In that were down right raw and funky, this was right before everything got mechanical, they couldn't jam as loosely after DSOM due to staging, timing of props, films etc, live though from 68-72 you hear them really stretch out and jam....
"Childhood's End" You shout in your sleep Perhaps the price is just too steep Is your conscience at rest if once put to the test? You awake with a start to just the beating of your heart Just one man beneath the sky Just two ears, just two eyes You set sail across the sea of long past thoughts and memories Childhood's end Your fantasies merge with harsh realities And then as the sail is hoist You find your eyes are growing moist All the fears never voiced say you have to make your final choice Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why? Some are born Some men die beneath one infinite sky There'll be war, there'll be peace But everything one day will cease All the iron turned to rust All the proud men turned to dust And so all things, time will mend So this song will end
Just look at that. Wow. How insightful as to the Common Human Experience. Before the concept album period starting with "Dark Side" he had long been writing songs of a profound recognition of the contradictions of humans and of human society. Along with clever little poetic turns of phrases.
Great version, but the sound quality is lacking, typical bootleg IMO. Too bad they didn't release more live work recorded, mixed & mastered by themselves. I LOVE THIS ALBUM AND ALL OF PINK FLOYD!!
Unlike Mozart and Beethoven et al how does this music of genius live on beyond recordings? How is it to be played and become part of the human experience.? For this stands equal with any great works our species has produced. Music needs to be live and a lived experience. I just feel so humbled that my life coincided with such works and I got to experience them live.
Some good drumming by Nick during the middle! One of the most under-rated drummers in one of the most under-rated bands during one of the most under-rated eras in one of the most under-rated genres! There!
Obscured By Clouds doesn't suffer a bit from only being crafted in two weeks. Remember it is a movie soundtrack and that limits it right there. It's another Floyd classic in it's own right.
Holy schnikes, this is a great version. Is there a full bootleg from this show? Amazes me how little video footage there is of the Floyd from the 70s. Thankfully we have Pompeii.
este es un temazo de ese disco q no se le dió mucha bola, cuando inventen la maquina del tiempo ya tengo un pique!!! Zurich en el 72 y con un ácido en la billetera para hacerla completa
thanks for this, definitely one of the Pink Floyd concerts I would have liked to see. Does anybody has filmed this concert in Zürich ? Mighty Respect !
Such a pity this isn't a better quality! Or, such a pity I wasn't born 25 years earlier on the right side of the Berlin wall. Would give up those 25 years for this particular group...
I've not heard this version before - it surprises me how much Rick's keyboards from about 5.12 onwards sound like Camel's Lady Fantasy, so maybe Peter Bardens had a bootleg copy of this gig and it "inspired" him. ;)
You can hear formative bits and bobs of Floyd's other songs ("Time" is most obvious to me) but more interesting are the similarities to Cream's stuff - bass at 3:30 sounds a lot like "Politician" and the progression starting at 5:11 sounds like "We're Going Wrong"...
There is no underrated album or song when you are a true fan of Pink Floyd.
Eduardo Solis there's overrated though
Eduardo Solis i totally agree With you....
All of Pink Floyd is underrated
Indeed my friend
But there are some real lemonade songs from them, agree dude?
In my opinion this is the most underrated Pink Floyd song, and it happens to be on the most underrated album. +Justin Vavala agree 100%
I believe Nick Mason said Obscured by Clouds is his favourite Floyd album
Definitely one of my top 5 Floyd songs.
I definitely agree. I think the problem is that the album cut is overproduced. It sounds so much better performed live.
I was there! Hallenstadion Zürich Dec 9 1972, my first live-concert as a 17 yrs. old teenager, memorable moments.
Holy Shit the envy :D First Concert and you heard the original 4 Guys play Careful with that axe Eugene and all the other Gems.
Loulou, I was also there that night, I was 17 too, and had taken my very first acid...What a night ! :o)) Unforgetable ! Didier55
i would have been terrified and most likely experienced an anxiety filled 'bad trip'. nightmare...and the real acid from '72...WOH!
December 9th, 1972...I was in the 4th row, center, at this amazing concert!!...I was 18 years old, then!
Wow!! Lucky you! 🤟🏼🎸🔥💯
Hola hola muy buenas
@@venusmc2824 buenas noches
Outstanding! 😁👍🖖🤘
Obscured By Clouds is underrated, and so is the soundtrack from More.
IN OTHER PPLS MINDS BUT NOT MINE
i absolutely love "More'. Along with the unreleased 'Zabriski Point' soundtrack they are probably the most unique and spontaneous expressions of their creativity from their whole career ('66 - '83).
More's Side B is very boring and even bad in some places, but its Side A has amazing songs
Obsured by clouds is magic
Very true words
I was in eighth grade when Floyd played this classic!! I’m 62 years old and Childhoods End is as fresh as it was in ‘72!!☮️☮️☮️☮️

Pink Floyd at their pinnacle right before they exploded into super stardom. The best years!
Roger's playing in the middle part is so cheeky and unsettling. Amazing!
One of my favorite PF songs! 🔥🎸💯🤟🏼🖤
Absolutely! Cheers 🍻
Vale
If you listen carefully, you can hear the basics of " Time " in here, although this is a brilliant track on its own " Echoes " is in there too.....
n13roy One part reminds me alot of Shine on you crazy diamond too.
+n13roy Time already existed though. They played it earlier in the set at this gig actually. The live renditions of Childhood's End very much sound like the embryo :-) of SOYCD in their middle sections.
I know right, at the second solo it's just the band jamming, no wonder that you hear elements of their songs. :)
You can also hear shine on you crazy diamond
n13roy yes yore exactly righ
Childhood's End is one of my fav PF songs.
Agree
01:00 The synthetizer, the guitar entering and the public beating the tempo... pure epicness !
Beat is different on the album
Straight out of a glorious, classic period of Pink Floyd composition and performances. The 1972-75 period of live stage shows was simply amazing.
70-77 was THE Shit!
Cool - I have this entire show on audio, but I'm missing this encore - thanks for posting.
can you post it please??
i wasn't born but i can almost touch the vibe, the atmosphere - best band ever - brilliant song it encapsulates everything that is to be human
All of Pink Floyd's music encapsulates humanity and the universe
Fuckin EPIC.. first time I ever heard this version. Feels like I'm listening to Floyd for the first time again. No band is better
Obscured by Clouds and Animals are my favorite Pink Floyd album... this is a great live performance, thanks for uploading.
This was the band at its peak. I am speechless. This was mind warping. I do wish the audio quality was better but that's no one's fault. The whole thing is great but the mid section was my favorite. Thank you for posting this!

Pink Floyd the epitome of music perfection and brilliance.Visionaries ahead of there time by many years☮🎼🎧
The bass!!
Wow, a versão de estúdio ficou tão pequena e simplória perto disso!
Crowd recognised intro 🙂 music, you know Music was great back then....
I was like “how do they know what song this is” haha
This is a prime example of a Floyd song that sounds far better live than it's studio counterpart. I love this version and the St Louis version also here on TH-cam. More grittier (dare I say grungy) which fits the music and the lyrics.
From what I understand, there was actually some consideration of putting this on DSOTM. But this live version is so Floyd.
This Lp is def one of my top Floyd Lps, one i reach for more than the rest at this point, Atom Heart Mother, Ummagumma, More, Meddle and this were a really interesting time for them judging from all the bootlegs i have heard of this era, some of my fave stuff. 5:48 to 5:55 is most certainly a precursor to Shine On You Crazy Diamond
All the iron turn to rust. All the proud men turn to dust - this is what I say everytime when I see how crazy this world is
Great fun to hear Roger stretch out on the bass part.
The first time I listened to the ObC album, I instantly knew this is the best song on there!
Really Good sound quality, despite all the low freq noise
Versione meravigliosa......non l'avevo mai ascoltata prima
Nesta época Pink Floyd era puro rock não se escutava outra coisa 💿🎧🎹🎸📼📀
Nice little Echoes-ish jam there
I think I would have lost my shit if I’d been at this show. Fucking unreal.
Olha o baixo do Waters nessa versão vlh... arrepia
"Childhood's End"

Is your conscience at rest? It was put to the test.
Oye noes mucho
Buen tema
the Bruxelles version is also fuckin amazing
i'm with you man, miles and miles separate us, but we ride the same wave.
Good luck and fortune
so,that's the path from Cream's "We're Going Wrong" to "In The Flesh"... ;)
Gran pero gran tema este de floyd!!! poco conocido pero tiene mucho rock
Siempre amare este gran tema! Me hace pensar en los 60s, una buena epoca sobre la musica psicodelica e.e
Great version, but the sound quality is lacking, typical bootleg IMO. Too bad they didn't release more live work recorded, mixed & mastered by themselves.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM AND ALL OF PINK FLOYD!!
First time here it, '24; the Wall, '82; most of there collection, '86-'16!!
Unlike Mozart and Beethoven et al how does this music of genius live on beyond recordings? How is it to be played and become part of the human experience.? For this stands equal with any great works our species has produced. Music needs to be live and a lived experience. at 6.38 wright fly in the sky with all its magnificence
Simplesmente sensacional!
merci Dj Pagey✌️✨🎸🎶👍
Some good drumming by Nick during the middle! One of the most under-rated drummers in one of the most under-rated bands during one of the most under-rated eras in one of the most under-rated genres! There!
Great song
I agree
superbe version pour un album trop sous-estimé.
David's voice here sound exactly like it sound in his late 60's
Obscured By Clouds doesn't suffer a bit from only being crafted in two weeks. Remember it is a movie soundtrack and that limits it right there. It's another Floyd classic in it's own right.

Some of my favorite footage! Pompeii! My blowing Jam Session! B 🔥🎸🤟🏼💯🖤
Wow, I hadn't heard this one! Wicked jam! Thanks for sharing :)
este es un temazo de ese disco q no se le dió mucha bola, cuando inventen la maquina del tiempo ya tengo un pique!!! Zurich en el 72 y con un ácido en la billetera para hacerla completa
All the fears never voiced
Say you have to make your final choice
i Was not at this concert
Wow 🙂 6:37 the WALL
David voice ♥
thanks for this, definitely one of the Pink Floyd concerts I would have liked to see.
Does anybody has filmed this concert in Zürich ?
Mighty Respect !
One for those who (falsely) claim Floyd live only reproduced the studio cuts ...
LOVE THIS
I like the funky bass
Perfect!
Seen em open up with obscured
Such a pity this isn't a better quality! Or, such a pity I wasn't born 25 years earlier on the right side of the Berlin wall. Would give up those 25 years for this particular group...
Well, enjoy it while you can, Dave. It's gonna be the last Pink Floyd song you get all to yourself for the next 15 years...
Just one man beneath the sky, just two ears just two eyes= 😎✌❤
Your mother is awesome
Schlicht und Einfach Genial.Mehr gibt's da nicht zu sagen
Good Description there Jack.....
2019?
2020
qui' ero presente con Giuseppe Vitali K.F e cugina.
My mother was at this concert!
The bass sounds a bit weird, but this is awesome.
Awesome!
hmm, might be a snuck in tape recorder from 1972? That might explain its inability to deal with the low end =p
Mine too.. they always have been...
Nunca los pude ver juntos y obvio no los veré pero tengo una máquina del tiempo, lo malo que solo tengo un viaje, difícil elección!!??
great verson this was a good boot
I've not heard this version before - it surprises me how much Rick's keyboards from about 5.12 onwards sound like Camel's Lady Fantasy, so maybe Peter Bardens had a bootleg copy of this gig and it "inspired" him. ;)
great sound
2:53
Diff. key than the studio version...? (or they mucked w/the tape speed)
I love
great ! great !!
How did I miss out that Childhoods End was made a series?
Este tema en vivo es vueno
Great song by David Gilmour.
This version is not in its original (album) tone is it? Looks like this one is a full step down...
I find this true. Some good tunes between dark side and meddle
This was taken down for too long
You can hear formative bits and bobs of Floyd's other songs ("Time" is most obvious to me) but more interesting are the similarities to Cream's stuff - bass at 3:30 sounds a lot like "Politician" and the progression starting at 5:11 sounds like "We're Going Wrong"...
Around 5:50 it sounds like shine on you crazy Diamond too
Cream was a BIg Influence for the Boys. Roger went to a Cream concert back in the Poly Days and called it very inspiring.
Time already existed.
i swear i hear in the flesh in here
me too
Yes, nice call. The section beginning around 6:30.
Is this based on Arthur C. Clarke`s novel and what album is it from?
i really dont think so
It's from obscured by clouds
The title is taken from the book, but it's meaning changed, this one is actually about childhood's end
Briliant version, i guess if Obscured by clouds was'nt mad in sucha a harry during two weeks it would have been much much better.
nice jammed out version
In which roio is this version available?
