    I rarely if ever comment, but I've been watching you for about two years now. You have taught me so much valuable information regarding not just gold, but diamonds, and now gems. I'm here for it! Much love from Chile. If I'm ever in NYC I'll definitely stop by and pick up something nice. Oh, I've also watched many of your interviews as well, and learned a lot from them as well. 10:59 Diamonds do indeed slow down light more than any known material. But it is not true that MORE light exits the diamond than enters. The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be transformed from one form to another. Since diamonds are chemically inert, there isn't any interaction happening with light that would create more energy.

    Hi - the Australian black opals are some of the most beautiful stones ever. When I was a preteen my dad took three months off work and we went to Lightening Ridge to dig opals. I remember the sound of my dad’s pick when he hit a fantastic opal vein. He was so happy but that night at the local pub some guy gave my dad $4,000 for the stone. My mum was so upset with him for selling it but back in those days it was a tremendous amount of money. I still have some opals that my dad cut and gave to me when I married my dear American Army Captain.

    Max you need to try to get access to a community that isn’t apart of the diamond cartel to get your own source for diamonds to be able to lower the rarity for some of the stones that you’re able to get from the specific sources. I know you would have to look at safety, stability, helping the community in the area, and having trustworthy folks on site that can keep an eye on your investment. I’d definitely put in cameras throughout the mining areas and have everyone go through a check when they leave the site to ensure that nobody is stealing product but I bet if you found a decent source or a source that has diamonds with other desirable gem stones you could make a ridiculous profit brother.

    Relativity has nothing to do with why diamonds sparkle. Relativity is about gravity. While a diamond sparks due to structure and refraction, bending and focusing the light down to an arrow point from a wider surface area, giving it more energy, thus sparkle.

  • @Quantum_Designs
    @Quantum_Designs 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Happy to hear you actually name off the red beryl from wah wah in Utah, I was yelling at you before you said that but talked about rare deposit of minerals In America… lol. Now if you would have mentioned benitoite from Cali, single source mineral and state gem of California, I’d of subbed

  • @patricklouie7737
    @patricklouie7737 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    I love hearing him explain scientific concepts to Jewelry, while thinking he's an expert in the scientific matters, while also getting it extremely, extremely wrong. Firstly, the concept of light in a diamond has nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with general or special relativity. Special relativity and general relativity is about gravity, fail. It has more to do with the structure and how light bends. A diamond takes the incoming light from a large surface area, bends the light due to something called refraction, which slows it down, and it also slows the different colors of white light by a different amount, thus creating essentially a rainbow effect like a prism. It then focuses the light down to a narrow point, which then bounces it out again, giving it its sparkle of different colors. So you are essentially creating a reflective telescope that, instead of focusing the light down to a single point so you can view it, it focuses the light down and then spreads the light out to give you a sparkle of colors. Secondly, mass extinctions have nothing to do with the dispersion of gems. Mass extinctions refer to events that kills organisms. Organisms have little to no impact at all over how the geological activities disperse the gems from the mantle of the earth. So when you explain scientific concepts, make sure to actually know what you talk about before trying to explain it. It makes you sound unknowledgeable when you can't even get basic scientific facts right.

    Rambam says in his memoirs that he met an Ethiopian Jew in Egypt once when caring for Saladin. He said the man’s sirname was Ben Dan - and the Ethiopian man had told Rambam that the Ethiopians were the descendents of a small portion of tribe Dan who had fled the Selucids after the destruction of Shechem which was later renamed to Neopolis and then Nablus. They came to Ethiopian in hopes that Queen Sheva’s small tribe had lived on. The small group of Dan would settle and mix with local Ethiopians to today become Beta Israel. It’s quite interesting to hear Rambam’s tales of Jewish identity in the MENA and Southern Europe.

    the "Red emerald" that you're referring to is called Bixbite which, just like emeralds, are a variety of beryl. They are like you said pretty rare to come by, but incredibly more rare to find clear and facetable specimens. I'm extremly happy that I got to buy a faceted 0.26 ct Bixbite from an old gemcutter that lives near me for a very pretty penny. Oberon , where they dug up the biggest diamond found in Australia. Dog Rocks location is very close with the party sapphires & Bathurst nearby for gold. All 3 hours from Sydney.

    Someday I would love to work for you Sir, your crude honesty is respect. It’s a disgusting world, all we want are fair numbers. The line that i liked the most was: that’s what they do they collect all these toys before they die…
