@FG-tu4fq the show changing its animation completely on top of season 5 being God awful tipped me from being a miraculous enjoyer despite its flaws to a deep miraculous hater bc of the fact its more flaws than not.
@geethenerd I get that but still, magic is supposed to do the impossible. I understand the whole life-for-a-life and actions-have-consequences, but once, just once, I'd like to see someone else pay the price. Maybe the father dies the day the baby is born or another expectant mother has a stillbirth as a way of the magic balancing out the wish; change it up a little storytellers!
Roland was actually made somewhat interesting all the way back in the sorcerer’s apprentice, when it was revealed that like Cedric, he also lives in the shadow of a more popular monarch, though this episode did make him even more interesting.

In The Glass Window, Amber looks really sad, almost like she’s about to cry. Not a single adult thought “Amber seems upset. Maybe we should talk to her.” Ironically in the very episode where they revealed this, they acknowledge Sofia misbehaving is ooc. Later in 2 Princesses and a Baby, it’s revealed that year after year, She never got to pick the flavor of her cake since they only asked James what he wanted.

The sickness was because of the wish I think. Like, maybe there was a reason she couldn't have children, and her body couldn't deal with it when it was magically made to carry.
Kinda like uther from Merlin! doesnt think of the risks of childbirth until their wife is dead.🤦♀️ these fictional men need a crash course on adoption and womens health.
@elsinaattheworkshop the women in these situations weren't seeking out magic to make a baby they wouldn't have to carry. @@Beth4ny True but I meant in the sense of I don't think it had to do with magic or aid that they got in getting pregnant. Childbirth complications happen a lot and I'm guessing also in the fictional world.
@elsinaattheworkshop ya, which makes it more ridiculous that uther and this guy seemingly didn't even consider the risks, instead of adopting or something.
@elsinaattheworkshop often infertility isn't just not being able to conceive. It could mean losing pregnancies very early on, which could kill the person carrying. Fertility is a complex thing, especially during times where midwives were called witches when something went wrong.

IIRC, the wish was for a large family - but while his wife's constitution was fine for one child, the wish caused her to have twins, which she could not handle. While he loves Sophia like blood, I think it can be implied that her presence fulfills the wish he has had since he lost his family as a young boy. The only thing I never understood was 'revealing' that Amber was the heir apparent - why not just state it all along? The most sexism found in the kingdom more resembles fuddy-duddyism than misogyny so why the lesson? Tilly could have just said she wasn't interested in the responsibility instead of making it a favor for Roland 'really wanting it'. I think Dawntrail is good. While I'd say some of the critiques are valid, they're very much overblown. While I have some opinions on this expansion thus far, I'll save them for when you guys have finished, and there's a chance to discussthings with civility. I will say this, though. Both Shadowbringers and Endwalker are masterpieces of storytelling, but they had the weight of the entire game backing them up. Dawntrail was never going to be their equal. Wouldn't matter who wrote it, it wouldn't matter if it was the same tone as the other expansions. It was never gonna stack up. Might be why it's something of a "vacation." Personally, I give Dawntrail a roughly Heavensward level of quality. On a more fun note, most of my Dawntrail MSQ predictions were pretty accurate. A bit on the broader side, I admit, but I'm rather proud of that if I do say so myself.
I always thought his wife died as a result of the wish. It twisted the wish like a genie does and sort of like the amulet it gave him a curse. It takes something away as well as gives it, you want agility? Bam you get turned into a cat. Also did he wish for twins? So many questions not answered. Either way it’s incredibly dark and he can’t unwish it because those are his children and he loves them. However I do wonder if he could have wished his wife better? That’s why I think it’s a curse from the well because why else not use his final wish to make her not sick or not die? There’s no rules so go ham!
@@projectboy5409 We shall never know! But it would make more sense if he said “I wish my wife could have children” but he probably phrased it in a better way than I am doing to get two healthy beautiful human children and not hobgoblins
So the children he does have are a wish he made and ended with her dying due to a sickness. Guess if you could give birth, it can end up fatal. But giving birth is not always good for women, and if she was dying when the kids were still inside her well, they wouldn't survive either so it's good that she wasn't having complications during her pregnancy. But still not so good for her dying either way.
She was already dead. Imagine wishing for someone dead to come back to life, it's happened in other stories and never turns out well. The person is not themselves anymore, and if wishing for children caused his wife to die, who knows what the consequences would've been had he wished for her to come back
