    Used to watch all your videos back when you were doing mainly Tenth Doctor content (though it seems we've both had a name change here on YT in that time), but it was around the time your content started shifting that I also got away from Tenth Doctor cosplay - I was just a kid dressing up on the weekends, not going to any kinds of cons or anything, after all. These past few weeks I've started trying to learn about overall style and grooming, and have found myself back here again, where the seeds were first planted as I was learning to style my hair and wear suits. As much use as I got from your content back when you started, I can tell you've really come a long way and I'm enjoying watching your videos for your personality alone, on top of the practical usefulness of your content. That's a whole lot of words just to say thanks for those videos so many years ago, and that I'm glad to be back.

      Man, this comment made my day. I really appreciate hearing things like this from my subs and makes me so happy to know that people are enjoying the content I make, even as it evolves over time. Thanks for taking the time to write this, and welcome back!

    I remember looking up the ingredients list on that oil and rolling my eyes. Why even call it argan oil at that point? Probably great for smoothing (as alot of cheaper similar products are) but not something I'd use daily to 'hydrate' my hair - I'll stick to my Dauntless grooming oil.
    edit: oh and good stuff once again Matt, but that should be a given at this point haha

    Very trustful review, there’re so many people overhyping Forte af

  • @bigharryyy03
    @bigharryyy03 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Forte has a few more products available now: a scented version of the clay (don't know if it's the same formula as the original), a Sea Salt Spray, a Texture Spray, a Freeze Spray, a Cream, and a Pomade. I heard they have thinning hair products and also skincare coming soon as well.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the clay is exactly the same just with some added scent. I'm sure I'll get enough requests to check out the other stuff some day, though after the $100 I wasted on this batch, I'm gonna hold off for now lol

  • @joshuaelman619
    @joshuaelman619 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Finally, someone mentioned the argan oil thing! It was the first thing I noticed when I checked out the ingredients and all other reviews of the serum never mention that argan oil is the 6th of its 8 ingredients. It just feels disingenuous to call your product "argan oil" when it's mostly silicone.

  • @tiffanyyeadon9631
    @tiffanyyeadon9631 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I feel like silicones can be good or bad depending on the hair type you have. Like you've said before you have curly/thick hair, in my experience people with that type of hair can use silicones with no problems at all. My oldest son has hair like that. I usually stay away from them because I have fine hair so it gets weighed down very easily. I say, use what works for your hair and experiment to find what best works for you 🤷‍♀️
    Editing to add I'm definitely not a professional and to say that I subscribed to your channel so I can find good hair products for my sons. It's been a fun, you have funny videos.

    I realize that mint-scented hair products are a divisive issue, since I do know people who genuinely like them. But every time another one comes out I feel like it’s such a lost opportunity; I mean, here you’re given THE perfect canvas to create a unique signature fragrance that people will associate with your product exclusively, and for some unknown reason your choice is „toothpaste”. Off topic, I just picked up ELEVEN Australia’s I Want Body Texture Spray and it is sick! So if you ever want to review a texture spray which leaves most sea-salt sprays out there in the dust that’s my candidate.

    • @TDMStyle

    What is the favorite clay you’ve used that would have a strong hold with a natural feel?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably the Fuertes clay reformulation (the current version)! Stuff is amazing. Grand Classic Texture Balm is also outstanding (less hold than Fuertes for me though). On the water-based side of things, there are a looooot of good options. If you're after a medium, Hustle is still a great fallback for me.

    Hey Matt! I have a question because this have been annoying me since i’ve styled my hair. My hair type is basicly similar to yours very thick and dry ends, but my scalp is very oily so it gets greasy in like the next day if I style it with anything that as oil. My question is do you know any pre-styler that could smooth my hair out without contributing to the grease effect? sorry for the big plot lol, thanks and great review as always! 😁

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey there! I'd definitely recommend TheSalonGuy's 25 spray. I still use that stuff as my base prestyler almost every time I style. Does a great job of smoothing and hydrating without any oiliness or weight at all.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! Yeah mineral oil has become one of those products that people are afraid of these days (like how some people are opposed to using silicones) because it has the potential to cause buildup on the hair/scalp. But it's just another thing that causes no problems if you wash it out with a good quality shampoo, and actually has a lot of benefits to being a hair product like smoothing and moisture retention.

    I'm from Canada and when you order this product from Canada. You're paying thirty dollars for the shipping So a bottle of shampoo is $60 the same with the remaining of his products. It's actually cheaper to buy through Amazon and then still? You're paying 30? Dollars for a bottle of aragon oil i think he should do a little better for Canadians. If he wants us to use his product which I do I use everything? From forte but I'm almost frustrated with this experience. It should not have to cost me sixty dollars for a bottle of argon oil Or whatever else i'm buying from forte Listen I use manscape. It also comes from the United States. And I don't pay crazy fucking out of my ass and they make a lot of money off of me. Why is it that I'm paying double the price for This product? That also comes out of the USA. He needs to make his products more like manscape free delivery if manscape could do it. I'm sure he can as well that's how you do business. How does he expect Canadians to use his product if you're buying it for $20 Canadians are buying the same thing for 60 Come on? His ass is sucking win. You need to fix it or I'm done and I love his products. And that's why I am frustrated. It's all I use and it's over price at the Moments for Canadians and people oversee the only ones that. Actually get A good price. Are Americans so he only wants to serve Americans? Is that how you Do Business It's pathetic forte needs to fix it like Like. Yesterday? Almost done with this product which I love so much. Ready to switch to nioxin And yes they make everything for hair even hair loss so their products are top of the line. And will not ruin your hair. And you probably bite cheaper than forte and you could find it anywhere. Even your local shopper's Drug mart and With no. shipping and handling fees Which I find bullshit when I'm buying manscape out of the united states and I don't pay shipping and handling and the product is still cheap even if they include the Shipping and handling in the price forte should do better. That's how business is done For the love of God. Sorry to bore you out with my essay. I'm sure I got my point across And I love your honest review great video

      To be honest there are wayyy better products out there than Forte for what you want. For example the Xmondo Viper smoothing oil is one of the best hair serums I've ever used. For something similar to the Forte paste but with far better performance, I'd recommend the yellow label SalonGuy grooming paste.
