Handing it up to GOD IS EVERYTHING. I’m not alcoholic but I’ve obsessed over my problems and it got me nowhere. I recommitted my life to Christ and a strong prayer life which is consistent. No matter what my problems are I now have peace bc instead of obsessing on the situation I obsess on prayer. It’s a game changer.

We ALL have certain compulsive addictions...mine is mostly food...harder to totally kick overeating, because you have to eat!...with heroin/booze, you do not have to take that stuff, but with food, you gotta consume!...I am so glad, that you are defeating your addiction!

@@brenpgrace Hi Bren new subscriber, I was happy to hear that I am not the only one who likes winter a lot more then summer! Whenever fall comes around my spirits always seem lifted and when people ask me why I like winter so much I tell them during the summer you can only take so much off and still be sweaty but during winter you can always pile clothes on and get warm. My 2nd husband who is also an Irishman is almost 20 years sober from alcohol and pain killers. He hit bottom when he died and EMT'S brought him back that was when he knew he was done and he changed his life around completely. Please remember we find peace and happiness from within ourselves not from what we may or may not have! Stay strong and take one day at a time and you will get there I know you will! God Bless You.

Same. My dad’s dr told him for a long time he had to stop drinking. He refused as it was his coping mechanism with back pain (an injury he sustained at work), my mom leaving decades prior,& some other life stuff. He remarried but I don’t think he ever got over my mom abandoning us. He got to where he couldn’t absorb nutrients & he died in 2016 at 60 when his pancreas gave out.
My grandma went the following summer & life has done a 360 since. I lived out of my car for 6 months. I did have 2-3 homes beforehand when I was forced out of my grandmas house. went through an abusive relationship, had surgeries in 2021 then eviction. It took me 6 months to go from houseless to signing my lease. I’ve been in my home for 2 years I think 8/1. Changed trades. I work for the state now on days rather than healthcare. Physically I have challenges but I can’t begin to say how grateful I am for the journey I’ve come through. It took hard work and the grace of God that it was 6 months but I was always safe. I never froze nor starved. I have virtually no support system but I got through it.

I’m in recovery too. Celebrated 15 years in November. So I feel you so much. The realization that gave me escape velocity is that addiction is like schizophrenia. It’s a little voice in your head that lies to you and says whatever it takes to make you fail. Once I learned isolate that voice, I was able to ignore it, kind of like a schizophrenic lives with imagined people and must learn to identify and ignore them.

Just came across your channel and want to offer you a huge, huge congratulations in staying sober for 8 months. I'm a former gambling addict and your story reflects my own. As you say keep the train moving and things will get better. Absolutely brilliant channel. Keep it going.

All the best to you. TH-cam suggested it, so here I am. I’m 70 and I haven’t had a drink in 20 years. Yes, it started becoming a problem and I couldn’t just have a “social drink”. I would just drink to excess. I just found that for my own good and the good of my family I just had to stop. My life hasn’t been as tough as yours but you’re an inspiration to me.

Keep it up, Bren! So glad you found God. And you are honorable for staying in your son's life. AND, I seem to be in the minority with my friends and family here in Texas, but I LOVE the winter! I went to college in Bristol, RI, in the early 90s and lived on Cape Cod for three years, then moved to CA and back to my home state of TX years later. I hope to live up north again before the end of my life. 🙂 Best wishes for you!

Amen to the winter brother. I lived in my car at Walmart for 2 years down here in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Winter time you sleep deep and like an exhausted baby, summer time- miserable utterly miserable. People who've never experienced living in their car simply can't know or understand: they think that logically it's better to sleep in your car in the summer time - WRONG.

I am really enjoying your channel. I love your dedication to your son. I quit drinking 19 months ago and it really made a difference in my life. The culture that makes alcohol seems so normal negatively impacts on so many people and it’s not until we step outside the influence that we can see how much better we are with a clear head. good luck in your endeavors and I will continue following your channel. I even watch the commercials in the hopes that it give you a little extra.
