The History of Knott's Berry Farm - "Marion"

- In the late 1960's, Walter Knott finally retired, at almost 80 years old. He'd spent the previous seven decades working to support his family. He turned control of his western theme park to his youngest daughter, Marion.
Over the following several years, Marion Knott would begin leaving her own mark on the park. Fifty years later, some of these new additions, like the Calico Log Ride and Halloween Haunt, would be just as essential to Knott's Berry Farm as the Ghost Town. But some of these ideas would be utter failures.
We owe an enormous thanks to the Orange County Archives, holders of the Knott's Berry Farm historical collection. Without their generosity and friendly assistance, we would not have access to many of the incredible historic images and videos in this series. In particular, Chris Jepsen was of vital importance. He selected many of the images in this series based on our storytelling needs, and his keen eye for quality, yet-to-be-published images made this series infinitely better. A very interesting and informative video. Your throwback to 1968 reminded me of how restless this country was. I had forgotten how much had taken place in one year. As for the Knotts family, they were “pioneers “ of many different endeavors that I never knew about. Thanks for all your hard work to inform us of a truly remarkable story!
Yeah, 1968 was crazy. And there's a bunch of things like the Manson killings, Woodstock, John Lennon marrying Yoko Ono + the release of Abbey Road, the majority of the Zodiac murders, the launch of ARPANET (the precursor to the internet), and the moon landing that all happened the next year - many of which get associated with the chaos of '68 some of the time.
I know I’m going to end up watching this many more times. So much information to process!!! But right now of this first watch thru, I am totally shocked by the emotional reaction I just had to the passing of Cordelia. I seriously went from barely being aware that Knott’s Berry Farm existed to this genuine emotion for the sadness and mourning they must have felt when she passed. I know I’ve said it before but what a great series. Thank you :)

That really does come down to how someone defines a theme park, but I think so. It's pretty hard to argue, after they added Calico Mine Ride in 1960, that it wasn't a theme park.
Well guess what? It is officially a theme park since the early 1960s ok 👍 Theme Parchive?
You know Calico Log Ride is renamed to Timber Mountain Log Ride in 1974

Knott’s is now a theme park since the early 60s
Before 1969 Knott’s Berry Farm only has one ☝️ themed area Ghost Town, but then that changed when the second themed area Fiesta Village opened in 1969
I was born in '92... So I'm no boomer etc lol... But it does seem when women go to work, the whole world suffers more exponentially
