This season was NOT a failure. Last season was. I was shocked when they let go of Pete. But it was time for a change. I love our new coach, and honestly I really hope that they run it back with all the coaches
Unfortunately couldn’t make it to the live show today but just got done watching. Great show as usual Brian. I appreciate your research and the time you take to show us the important stuff. Keep up the great work!
Really appreciate your thoughtful approach to McDonald’s first season. He absolutely did the most essential task as a defensive head coach: fixing the defense, and he did it well. Now for the Offense….
One of the reasons why I became a Seahawks fan 10 years ago was Pete Carroll 🫶🏻 I just loved his energy; he reminded me of Jürgen Klopp. Still, I just couldn't stand his way of coaching the last 2-3 years. So I am all in on MM 🔥 I think, he will continue to improve the Defense which will be a good foundation to work on. My problem is that the Offense feels so far of: We don't have a franchise QB and Geno is 35 soon (I think), our O-Line is a mess and needs a total rebuild. We also need a new OC (basically every off season). Those 3 things that MM can't/won't fix, I fear. It's on Schneider! My issue is that I don't trust Schneider, since he's been a total failure in regards of the O-Line and trying to find someone after Russ's time... so let's see, what the off season will lead to. For me, it's all on Schneider now to deliver
Mike did excellent turning this defense into a top ten unit. That said he has to win more home games and next year he needs to lead this team to the playoffs.
As always generally agree with big picture and takes about the team and coaches but the comment that the Pete Carroll teams didn’t “play down” to other teams “as much as other teams” counters what I saw. Maybe I am strongly biased by the one or two games seemingly every year where a bad team with a 2nd or 3rd string / washed up QB came into Seattle and put up 400-500 yds of total offense and beat the Seahawks. To me, that is playing down to teams in an extreme. And Pete Carroll teams (last 5-6 years anyways) did that.
The difference is the exact opposite- Pete's teams played down but also played up. he won a game he had no business winning in literally every season. this regime plays down and doesn't play up. Its all the bad stuff from pete with none of the good stuff.
@@divinecomedy7311 You seriously comparing ONE year of mcdonald (his FIRST ever) with 14 years of carol??? That's literally one of the most preposterous takes possible And lemme guess you wish carol would come back and they pay smith 60 mill too right? Lmfao

Thank you Brian for the great content this year. Keep being your feisty self. Hawks Super Bowl 2026 baby!💙💚🦅

Hawks still need to change like 4 or 5 players on defense though before they good enough to win a sb Woolen, dramont jones, brown, a couple of the d line rotation guys etc
Brian u are wrong. Pete's teams always played down to competition. They were swept by the NFC south. Pete got us a Bowl, awesome. Destroyed the possible legacy the next year
Not a big fan for Jonah S from Arizona. Good in pass pro but doesn’t force any displacement in the run game against edges defenders. He’s still a day two guy, just probably closer to 3rd round
In basketball, coaches always talk about defense traveling. It’s very similar to football, there are going to be days/games where your jump shot is off & there’s gonna be days where your timing is off and offensively it doesn’t click. Defense travels & endures; Macdonald brings that defensive mindset that’ll travel & endure & grows. Carroll lost that post-LOB era, look at the #’s. Macdonald has already started to build up that side of the ball & the sky is the limit for him and this team. Just gotta get the offensive side of the ball right.
Exactly. They seem to forget that the past several years has been middling at best. The defense was horrible. Carroll hired a DC that was over his skis attempting to change to a different defensive scheme. Carroll abandoned his defensive philosophy instead of just tweaking it and attempting to revamp the roster with talent that could run his basic scheme. Also, being years removed from college he lost his talent evaluation touch, imo, that he had when he left SC.
the questions you asked yesterday seemed like they irritated macdonald. like the one you was like and i am paraphrasing what plays/games you think went wrong that lead us to no playoffs. is he suppose to throw murphy under the bus fora face mask? or geno for throwing an int that lead to 3 points. or the sack that geno takes to knock us out of fg range?
I always generally agree with you and appreciate your content, but I disagree with the notion that we need to tell others that they "can't feel" a certain way or that their feelings are "asinine". You can make your point (whatever it is) without insulting a certain segment of the fan base and reporters. Just give your take and let it stand on it's merits.
That’s good counsel. I get protective when people get attacked in bad faith as I think Macdonald has been. I think it’s important to call out reasons why people may have ulterior motives driving their analysis. I’ll try to use less judgment words when doing so.
I see your point but I agree with what Brian is saying. I do think that it’s really only social media cults saying stuff like the Seahawks aren’t better based off win and losses. Brian isn’t the only person talking about the team like this. A majority of the fan base agrees with what he’s saying.

Point differential is an extremely flawed measurement. Take the the dolphins game from this year and the ravens game from last year. That's a 55 pt swing on its own. Hell the 4 games where geno was hurt from last year the team went -41 in that stretch. Something more telling is that last year we had 11 games against teams with winning records while this year is 8 (+/-)1 with winning records. If the dolphins and falcons split, we will have played more teams with losing records than winning records this year. Edit: you say that statistics point to the defense being much better this year however this year the seahawks have had 8 games so far where they held opponents to less than their season average. Last year we also had 8 games where we held opponents to less than their scoring average.
If you use PFFs mock draft without changing it so it uses consensus rankings rather than PFFs you'll always get weird-ass results. This isn't knocking PFF necessarily, just saying that their rankings are different than most so you're not going to get realistic results.
Allen/mahomes, like 3new o line guys, another wr, another te, another rb, 2 more/different D line guys, another LB, 2 dbs, probably another OC, some better trainers/rehab specialists All that should probably do it
Suppose you're looking to fire MM as a Hawks fan. Out of curiosity, I wonder what you dispassionately think the Panthers, Raiders, Pats, and Titans should do. Panthers were awful early on, they *could* have as many as 5 wins but had some success late in the year... Canales was supposed to improve Young... and he looks to have had decent success by the end of the year. Would you fire him? I sure as hell wouldn't. What about the Raiders, Titans, and Pats... clearly dysfunctional and/or a bunch of problems, but a decent defense last year. Probably need to change something... do you think getting back on the coaching carousel is the answer? I'd STILL probably say examine the talent level, GM performance, and ownership before destroying any chemistry your coach and team have been developing. MM made numerous changes over the year and implemented a defense that is currently top 10 for the season after being awful early on. I don't have the numbers, but I bet we'll find SEA solidly in the top 5 defenses in the back half of the season. Yeah, they didn't figure out offense, but trying to get MacDonald fired seems like a plot by 9ers fans to destabilize this team.
Just got to the point where Brian said that people making ludicrous claims have an agenda... agreed. And if you're picking leadership based on who you'd want to have a beer with... you should stop drinking beer.
