    Adding to Don Roo's comment below. Would love to see some comprehensive videos on your builds, prices, considerations, any experience you can share for people who are dying to get into this hobby but are inundated with information overload. Let's see a motionsic masterclass! 🙂🙃🙂🙃

      Thanks for the suggestion. Will put one together, soon. But really I keep my builds super simple. Head-tracking is simply using the trainer/buddy box function of transmitters to control two channels (pan & tilt) for the gimbals. And the head-tracker acts as the buddy box (but does not move the control surfaces). Simply install gimbal onboard and plug in the servos to two spare (assigned trainer) channels on receiver and power on the camera. That’s the gist of it.

    Great to see you keep uploading stuff. I started FPV with drones and it is very easy to add airspeed and altitude onto the goggle. Unless you already know, I'll let you know early next year. I'm still playing with airplane flight computer which is similar to drone FC but uses different program. A bit of learning curve. Will test fly as soon as weather gets better.

    Amazing flight. I’ve come to really enjoy your channel and it’s sparking my interest into rc flying again. Questions for you- is the camera here the actual cam you’re seeing through your HMD? I take it the HUD has some pertinent info and I would really like to see it. Does it have altitude, airspeed and voltage?

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the encouragement! The video I see in the goggles (HMD) is crystal clear just like this video. To be specific, the goggles display resolution of 720P 120fps while recorded video is 1080P 60fps. However, some compression happens while uploading to TH-cam and not all video is displayed at 1080P unless specified on settings. What you refer to HUD is OSD-on screen display telemetry information. I don’t have any of that. One can add those by using a flight controller with OSD, GPS, and pitot tube to get the info you want.
      I fly my planes both LOS and FPV and found that I don’t need telemetry to fly safely. So just keeping my build simple and enjoy🙂

    I just got a dji goggle and ordering a caddx vista to run on my rc planes as well. How did you power yours. I was gonna run a jst plug to the camera unit plug in a 3s 300mah lipo

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 3S 300 mAh Lipo works. I use a small BEC off the flight battery lead from ESC to supply 12V to air unit. The Vista can handle up to 6S. So you can just split small leads with a connector to power the vista.

      @michaelwells3544 ปีที่แล้ว

      I too am interested. I have some rc components (chargers/car batteries) but assume not everything would be compatible. Perhaps putting together a comprehensive video (before black friday 🙃) would be super helpful.
      Not for nothing too, idk if you have patreon or another means of accepting donations. While I personally don't subscribe/watch much of anything particular on TH-cam, having somebody summarize everything (parts needed/price/installation techniques/minimum transmitter channels/did you use software for training first before going edf/etc) or do a sort of mastercourse would, in my opinion, save me (and others) enough time in research etc to justify donating. Would be more than happy to support you helping to grow the rc community and help others build a similar setup. Best of luck to you and your channel and as always have fun!! 😎

      @@colinhealey6244 very helpful, thanks for that! Yeah definitely not looking to start on an edf, was thinking a trainer along the lines of the carbon cub for the time being, but obviously interested to know what I'm getting myself into and what's involved along the way. How many channels would you recommend? Ive seen various opinions (4 is enough, go 6 for room to upgrade, go 8 if you're in this for the long term). Not looking into helos, just fixed wing. Curious on your thoughts

    • @colinhealey6244
      @colinhealey6244 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelwells3544 Definitely find a simulator to fly on first or visit your local rc field and shadow someone. 4 channels will cover the basics (throttle, elevator, rudder, and ailerons) but most planes that are decently cool also have retracts and flaps and therefore would require a 6 channel. If you eventually want to FPV a plane you'll need an additional two channels for tilt and pan of the gimble that holds the fpv camera. So an NX8 or NX10 is not a bad investment. I recently got an NX10 on ebay for $450. Drones are different from helicopters though both use rotors. If you want the FPV experience a drone will be the cheapest route but will require a different protocol transmitter. Luckily, theres a lot more variety and competitive pricing than the monopoly eflite/spektrum have on planes.

    With the terrain you have there, the hills and small valleys around there. I would love to make a similar course as to the film Top Gun Maverick. 😂 Fly close proximity to the ground, fly up the small mountain then upside down at the top into a steep dive to bombs away on the target. then the steep climb up and over the mountain face. 😅 if you have friends to compete with, see who can run the course the fastest.

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestion. Indeed that would be super fun. I thought about that. We have to strategically position the pilots so the hills would not obstruct signals to and from the plane. We also have strict field boundary. The hills are actually off limits. Maybe at a different field.
