Why does he activate genie in Halloween town but never use him? Is it for rng?
Are runs without gummi missions a different category than normal, or are they the same?
I'm wondering this too, KH2 gummi ship is more on rails than KH1, and in KH1 adding thrusters to your ship would make you go massively faster during the gummi sections, so modding them out in the first game would take out part of the speedrun strategy, which wouldn't be allowed.
But I'm not sure if adding additional thrusters to your ship in 2 even makes you go all that much faster? If it doesn't then it would make sense to cut them with mods.

I'm confused, how is Sora still level 1 even though he keeps getting rewards like increased HP and such? Also, how is this whole thing possible? Is this game modded? I'm not tech savvy at all, so please don't take any of this in a negative way, I'm genuinely curious.
This is kingdom hearts 2 final mix, the re-release that has critical mode and an ability that allows you to not gain exp. The game gives Sora some abilities and HP through things called bonus lvl ups which you get from story fights

The no gummi mission mod?
It has its own category on the speedrun leaderboard. I believe it is a category extension
The gummi sections are so braindead in a speedrun context, they are quite literally absolute busy work since they take the exact same amount of time to complete in every run, you get faster prebuilt ships as you play that you're just going to use without any thought, and taking the time to make a ship that's as fast as possible would waste time.
Doing the gummi sections or modding them out doesn't create have any difference in your total time whatsoever, just add the time the gummi sections would take back in at the end.
