    You are looking great Brendan, not only your Body but also your Energy ;)
    Had a similar thing happen to me when I started FP with the 10 Week course and had trouble implementing FP to get a Routine going. Training by Intuition and analysing yourself is very different than just following a program. I got very complacent and my capacity to handle stress (Running, BJJ, Wrestling etc) decreased quite a bit over the last 2 Years. I have found that a mix of routine and play/exploration works best for myself and now I am able to slowly build up my capacity to train harder again with minimal / no pain.
    Much Love 🍀

    It is because FP only has 1 piece of the puzzle. FP does not address foot control and or pressure. They think that the FP movements themselves will simply correct someones weak feet - which is you had knee problems in that movement. What you need to do is combine GOATA and FP.

    • @rawmotionfitness
      @rawmotionfitness  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Never really considered GOATA - have you got experience with combining FP and GOATA?

      They both suck. Just do "movmed" or something more foundational. Forcing postural changes in the aggressive way they do will leave you injured down the line. Good posture should be an unconscious effort that comes as a result of a stable midline. Look into movmed. FP makes you neurotic and ocd - just look at Naudi. Does he seem like he handles stress well?

    Great video. Followed the ten week course, and just finished a course at a practitioner for 3 months. Before the last training at the practitioner, knee problems popped during a fieldhockey training. Coming week travelling to Berlin for the foundations course in Berlin. Good to see that checking the 10 week course again, helped you to solve your problems. I am going to do that also.

    Hi Brendan! Happy for your progress.
    I'm considering trying FP. Looking at the pictures at 12:25, what strikes me - besides your weight loss, as you said - is that your kyphotic curve looks the same. The horizontal distance from your spine to your rib cage (i.e. from your thorax to your sternum) has not decreased, but remained the same; the back of your neck hasn't gotten longer or straighter. That would be my main desired outcome from taking an FP course, and seeing your images dissuades me quite a bit. Do you know whether you have Scheuermann's disease / wedged vertebrae in your thorax? During your FP training, did you intentionally try to improve posture and reduce kyphosis? If yes, do you have any ideas why your kyphotic curve didn't visually improve?

    • @rawmotionfitness
      @rawmotionfitness  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hey, thanks for the comment and taking the time to watch. Scheuermann's disease is a consideration, and was mentioned in my first session, but not been formally diagnosed. The biggest hurdle that I have faced in the past is being able to get any pec and tricep action in any movement. Bench press and push ups just used to fatigue my biceps. With FP there is a considerable development of the muscles around my shoulders and upper chest. I can feel better scapular positioning and pec and tricep engagement in movements that I am doing these days.
      If anything the shape of the ribcage has changed but the curve hasn't gone away, I would argue in fact that the distance that you mention has increased. I don't see that as a bad thing at the moment... Nor do I believe that I will ever have a 'flat' T-spine. It has taken 34 years to form in that position, so if I thought that 3 years of FP would change it dramatically then I'd be smoking something. Equally, aside from the chronic pelvic pain and the kyphosis I have been addressing a large hip hike on my left hip and rib shift as well. Bearing that in mind, and when I am training, I am having to account for the fact that if I force too much thoracic extension I run the risk of causing pelvic floor issues.
      In recent sessions I have managed to get a lot better in the extension of the T-Spine but I am not married to the idea of it changing too quickly. I am more focused on improving the muscular associations and development around my upper body. I believe if the ratio of muscle were to increase, then that development would help to shape the bones the way that they 'should' be. All practitioners and FP Doers will come to accept the idea that the progress is continuous rather than a destination.
      I don't know if that helps to explain what you are seeing and your question?
      Essentially, I have to be careful how quickly I force any adaptations. Will FP ultimately cure my back curve? I haven't a clue but it seems to be my best shot because of how much of a my life I have gotten back over the last 3 years.
      You mention your desired outcome from FP being about posture improvement, if you want to ask questions face to face then I would suggest reaching out on IG and I can arrange a chat... (only if you are genuinely interested in more detail than this as typing responses loses a lot in translation.)

    Hi thanks for making this video, I appreciate your humbleness when making this video. My question is if FP worked so well why is it you got an injury as soon as you started running again? Running should be quite a simple movement

    • @rawmotionfitness
      @rawmotionfitness  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a great and loaded question… I’ll probably have to make a video on this topic…
      The way to think of it is that my body and my biological structure is having to undergo change through application of FP techniques to correct muscular imbalances and bone malformations.
      My left adductors and rectus femora are incredibly dominant and I have a lot of lateral movement in my left knee.
      On a biological level, even with FP, there is a limit on how much and how quickly I can change my dysfunctions.
      Conscious behaviour programming for muscles takes time to develop into unconscious behaviours.
      Equally I spend a lot of time on my feet as a practice owner.
      The more conscious effort I put into applying FP the better I feel. That being said, the more I run and do other sports the more my body will still revert to old muscular programming.
      My left hip, knee and femur are the way they are because of my golf swing and spiralling that way from the age of 4-37.
      Pretty much every day for 30 years I have been involved in golf and sport.
      That’s a long time for behaviours to form and will take a long time for them to change.
      Hence with FP, it is advised that one takes out any other activity they do because of the unconscious programming of the body in that context.
      Doing sport for me whilst doing FP is a little like emptying a sinking boat with a ladle or small bucket.
      That being said, I have a daily mental battle between doing what I know is good for me and doing something fun that creates a hormonal response.
      The real question is for me is, how much FP do I want to do each week to have my body free and capable enough to do what ever I want.
      That will come in time and it’s really just up to me to test it…
      I hope that makes sense 🙌🏻

As the results grow and more people become involved in FP I think the frustration will wane. I guess FP's new products this year will encourage more widespread use of their methods... Their advice, the specialist in particular, was simple advise because they don't get paid to monitor you and watch how you do exercises. However, the goal was to deload an acute injury while it heals with exercise, in particular a bike, that puts less stress on the knee through valgus and varus, keeping it within safe rom while providing you with some movement to keep the synovial fluid circulating and your cardiovascular system working appropriately. The physio wanted to get you stabilizing proximally to provide support distally. They're not conflicting advise, they'er looking at what can be done while an acute injury heals. If you continue to put valgus forces through your knee which would happen with rotatory movements, you're going to keep challenging the acute injury and prevent it from healing appropriately. Thats why they told you what they did. Common sense prescriptions.

      Lol. I mean, I don't really have a say in how they make their assertions about that... And, if you listen to what I say in the video, it was a multi faceted injury. Also, if you made it to the end you'll know that my knee is fine now that I have gone back to the basics and worked at a slower pace more suited to me... So seems like I created the problem and their concepts helped solve it... again... ;-)

      Along with seeing other professionals and then not voicing any concerns over serious pathology.
      I actually value a lot of the idea from.their method. But to think they have the magic bullet is nonsense. A wider array of people would be more keen to try if it wasn't so dogmatic and they don't use small amounts of information from people.that have dedicated their lives to certain aspects of science.

    Amazing that you can rationalize how you got injured, that you need Physical Therapy for the injury, but saying "hey I wasn't ready for it maybe it was too complex, or something" and not recognize that this exact phenomenon is contributing factor to those who injure themselves in the gym doing conventional exercises; too complex, too high load...injuries happen.
