It's gone into shock. Rabbits are extremely sensitive to these things and should not be bathed or gotten wet.
***** Rabbits go into shock when laid on their backs, if they went into shock when they got wet they'd be extinct. Also watch every other video on this channel (or chintube), if you think she doesn't know how to look after her pets.
Crazy Hans Actually they go into what's called Tonic Immobility when laid on their backs. An innate fear-induced response in which they play dead to hopefully fool predators. Fortunately Snowy has only had to have one bath in her life and Lulu has only had to have two. Once they both got coated in mud playing outside and we were unable to brush it out. The other time Lulu had some sort of allergen in her fur and it was causing a painful skin rash.The bath cleared it right up. We don't bathe our bunnies without a good reason.

The only Reason of why the bunny is calm, i because it’s in shock. It might seem “cute” but this a huge no no! Agreed. Although it may look cute when you hold them upside down, it's not comfortable or safe for them.
To address these comments below- it is very important to bathe a bunny's bum if it is soiled. If it stays soiled, flies may be attracted to it and lay eggs on the bum which can lead to 'fly strike' where the resulting maggots eat your bunny's flesh.
However, you should not bathe your bunny unless there is a very good reason such as the above. In general if your bunny just has a non-toxic stain such as a grass or urine stain you should allow it to grow out.
When bathing your bunny you should only partially submerge it in shallow, luke-warm water and thoroughly dry it's fur afterwards. If it is an outdoor bunny you should keep it in the house for at least 24 hours after. They would only die of cold if their skin and fur remains wet.
If your rabbit is extremely stressed during a bath, stop and take him to the vet.

Jesus. Every Rabbit video on youtube all I see in the comments section, "Abuse!" So what if people are a little uneducated about their animals, they're doing what they feel is the right course of action to take care of their pet. This person is obviously trained enough and did the right thing in bathing the bunny just enough to get its bum wet, washing the filth off of it's behind. That's completely fine by me. However I don't condone people who just dump water on their rabbits either, it's not abuse as it falls under not having proper education when handling a pet. Abuse is torturing an animal for your own gain and amusement. People simply lack the education or training so therefore when they don't do something wrong, people scream abuse and begin to riot. You people need to calm down with your accusations. If you want abuse, go look up Baby Seals being clubbed or Chickens getting their beaks ripped off and necks stomped on. That's animal abuse, people not correctly washing or taking care of an animal is lack of education as an animal handler, which can be improved by simply reading more guides on how to handle your animal and talking to your local vet.

Coming from someone that raised rabbits with her grandparents and had one who was my best pet ever (lived to be 13)... Giving a rabbit a Luke warm, shallow bath is fine if they absolutely need it. My bunny loved baths so much that I used to put a towel at the bottom of the tub and he would lounge on it! I miss you Spotie

Reminds me of my lion head bunny. She had white as snow fur and gorgeous blue eyes. She loves me grooming her and sleeps on my bed. But a few weeks ago, the builders left the back door open and she ran away. 4 days ago I was walking down the street and found her with half her head ripped off. I wish she was still here.

For everyone who is saying this is abuse it's not. Rabbits are allowed to have butt baths because sometimes they can get poop stuck. You just aren't supposed to use lots of soap or get the whole bunny wet. That is wrong this is not!!

I get sick of people trying to be a smartass here. That bun obvi need a bath, the owner even showed the dirty part (probably because of poop) I have a rabbit and she can clean herself but she can't reach her 'under the tail' fur which always dirty either because of pee or poo.
You can bath a bunny at the part where it's dirty, the owner of this bunny only dip it's half body so it's okay. They also dry the bunny with a towel so everything's fine. Sore Hocks often develops because of excessive weight, wire cage mesh flooring, AND POOR HYGINE, NOT BATH.

I wish my rabbit was as relaxed as yours is. Seems very peaceful and happy. I have "bathed" my rabbit too, but he looked more like a drenched rat and he didn't love me for a couple of days after. But soon he will have to be bathed because if they start to smell really bad then that is no good either :)

+Ultra Buzz NO! You do not need to bathe a bunny unless they are incredibly filthy and will get sick by grooming themselves. A butt bath, which is what this is, is occasionally okay if they have poop on their butts but it is genuinely not recommended to bathe a bunny. You risk them going into shock. Most petstores have wipes that you can use to clean a bunny. Also it's good to note that your bunnies habitat should be cleaned at least twice a week and your bunny should only smell like the hay they are given. Otherwise, get vet help.
Slaughter Siren very true. you could also put them in a dry tub and have a bucket of warm water and a cloth in it, and slowly clean them with a damp, warm cloth. i used to do it for my eldest bunny, but never soak your rabbit. they have a hard time drying off, and that could make them sick.

Poniesta Toy Time TV basically ppl with comments that say...."Rabbits shouldn't get baths unless absolutely necessary" basically saying I like my pets filthy until they reek of death. Then i will give the smelly thing a bath.....why not just avoid having stinking pets around, and just give the darn thing a bath. It doesn't hurt anything, and who knows what a filthy animal is spreading in your home. Kids touch just about anything, and a cute filthy fluffy bunny is definitely no exception. Then they wanna go dig in the fridge for a pudding snack or something....bottom line, there's nothing wrong with cleanliness. its makes for a healthier environment.....
To answer you question, yes I've owned 2 rabbits in my time. Male and female. they're self grooming sucks I watched them groom each other and after about a month they reeked. Why? I do not know....all i knew is that they smelled bad and something needed to be done about it. In reference to outside rabbits, why be concerned with them? they are not domesticated. so as far as that's concerned I wouldn't care. They live outside I don't have to be bothered with them at all whether they smell or not. I bathed my rabbits at least 1 time a month after that, and dried them properly in a comfortable room climate. I never had an issue with any of my animals being sick after a bath. I also owned Geaunie Pigs, and bathed them once a week cause they reeked even though I see them grooming themselves....I kept my pets living areas clean. So, them stinking, was not of a dirty cage. They just stunk and I never figured out why. Maybe some overactive glands or something, I don't know. As far as your rabbit getting sick. I believe that its much like humans, why some of us can play in the rain and some of us get sick after just being in the rain a few minutes. I think its has a lot to do with immune system. Your rabbit just may have had a weak immune system. Now, I am not saying animals can't get sick from baths. I am sure they can, and that they do, but like I said I think it has to do with a healthy body of your animal.

Frank Rawr I've never once bathed my rabbits and they don't smell... I guess it's down to how you look after them, whether they're spayed/neutered and if you clean their scent glands.

Butt baths are fine when needed. The entire body isnt wet and freezing. Rescue groups give butt baths as last resorts when the bunny is incredibly dirty.
Full out baths are gonna freeze the rabbit to death.

well their poops dnt really smell but their per does so it's best u litter train them but their quite low odour pets :-))

I hope that you do understand that rabbits should never be bathed or become wet. If a rabbit becomes wet, it can develop sore hocks on its feet; which can be deadly. It also puts an extreme amount of stress on your rabbits. Rabbits clean themselves anyway, so there is no need to wash them. Bottom line: NEVER WASH YOUR RABBIT.
The bun is obviously dirty and need a bath asap cause it's a free roam bunny placed in a house. You want your pet to be clean but I think you prefer your house full of germs. Another thing, it is okay to bath a rabbit as long as they're being dried quickly. The owner only dip it's lower half to where it needs to be cleaned, they didn't bath the entire rabbit.

@@devyn4189 Sometimes a cloth just smears rabbit poop. I have washed my rabbit butt by putting it in the water and my rabbit always turned out fine. My rabbit is still happy healthy and living. He hasn't even gotten sick before.

I have a lionhead so maybe bathing my rabbit is different but if you literally google bathing a rabbit, it will tell you rabbits groom themselves and theres no reason to bathe on unless it’s medically necessary. Just like rats. Rats dont need baths when they clean themselves.

I would just like to say to all those people who thinks this is wrong or something. It isn't technically wrong, cleaning the butt with water is fine but when you wash a rabbit in water(full) they die faster.

Washing their butt won't hurt them. I just had to give my rabbit a dirty bum bath, because she peed and then sat in it and then was hopping around getting the pee everywhere. (She thought it was funny.) 😂

What ever you are doing to the rabbits is so wrong. If you letting rabbits outside you are just put danger to them. Because outside there are animals that eat rabbits, even your dog. Of course there is ways that dogs can be together with rabbits... but that depends... if the dog is not trained to hunt or something like that. But anyway, don't have rabbits when you have a dog. Because rabbits are very very sensitive animal and they can easily get heart attacks.
I know, but the point is not to free these animals... it's to torture them.

I work with vets. It is SAFE to give your rabbit a "poopy butt bath." Its only dangerous if you soak your entire bunny in water. If youre not a vet or a vet assistant then don't make comments or act like you know what's best. Also holding the bunny the way he did wasn't dangerous either. You can't believe everything you read online.

My bunny nearly drowned in my pond while I was in the shops. It’s like bathing a bunny. I even put it in the towel to snuggle but she ended up dying the next day. This makes me so sad 😭

I'm pretty sure they have just been spayed and neutered and then it is ok to give them a bath IF you do it correctly. but you are holding them on they're back which can paralyze them. if you are going to give your rabbits baths, please do it only when necessary, and properly. just because the rabbit looks cute, it may be in shock, or paralysis. please take better care your rabbits are so adorable I don't want them to die.
People say you should NOT bathe bunnies, but I have to bathe mine because poop gets stuck on his butt.
