This year, I practiced letting go of things that I do not need anymore and I always ask myself before buying if it is useful to me. Having simple and things thay I actually use keeps my mind organized and lessen stress. I also agree that what you in your downtime affects your mood when you're at work or doing something. I am super thankful for your video😊❤️
Here are ~10~ things that I have added to my life to help me become more intentional: Walking outside or reading my book outside bc nature calms me Eating more vegetables for snacks..I especially love pickles Taking time for my hobbies, knitting scrubbies for friends and family Buying a devotional Bible and reading through it Lying down in legs on wall pose to stretch my legs Developing daily am and pm routines set to ONLY my natural rhythms Saying no thank you and no in general when something does not suit me Thanking Jesus for my life and for my family's health Decluttering our home and becoming minimalist in mindset Watching only positive TV such as TH-cam content of friends like you!
"You can't change the people around you, but you can change the people around you." This is brilliant!! I felt it resonate within me like a bell being struck. Thank you!!
I like your podcasts because they make me think, ponder, and contemplate changes I'd like to make in my life. Thank you for bring up questions and topics to consider. : )
Seven years ago I left my country and all my social life to live a better life abroad with my husband. Now we think the lack of social life made our lives much more intentional and free to develop activities we really appreciate☺️ and we are happy with the change☺️
When I was a young child, I remember my mother telling me not to wish to be grown up; she said as you get older time goes by more quickly. It really does seem to be true. ☮️
I wonder if it is just that as we get older a day a week a month a year is a smaller and smaller percentage of our total time that we have lived? I know particularly for me weeks seems to go by in a flash. It is Sunday and I have things to do. Then before I can even turn around it is Sunday again. I am astonished at how time goes by at such speed now that I am old.
I feel the same way, Vera. For some reason it seems like the days are flying in melting into each other. At church on Sunday they were talking about taking time to pause breathe and slowing down. They gave us a prayer to put on the front of our phone to remind us. I think no matter what our faith beliefs are, we are all guilty of running from one place to the next, hurrying about and always thinking of what we're going to do next before we have finished what we are doing in the present moment. So I am working to be more intentional. Ironically, your channel has helped me think about this long before now. Thankful for this mindset.
I retired a few weeks ago and have started overhauling my life. The last few years I’ve been working in a toxic work environment so I’m looking forward to doing some relaxing things for myself and taking life slow. I liked the video, thank you!
Yes Vera time is flying by too quickly. My mom always said the older you get the faster time goes. She was right. Moments are so precious I appreciate them more.❤
Dear Vera, I had never heard of intentional living until I watched this video. You certainly provide much food for thought that I will watch this video again. I found your channel about a year ago and find your videos inspirational. You are very wise at your age. I am a 62-year-old married woman with grown children. I am in the process of decluttering my home because I want to own fewer belongings and when the time comes to move into a smaller home, I won't have as much to move.
Hi Sharon, thanks so much for leaving this comment and sharing your thoughts. I'm so happy this video about intentional living resonated with you! Wishing you lots of luck with decluttering, have a nice weekend!
I'm trying to only go shopping when I need something and stop make random unnecessary purchases. It's taking a while but I'm definitely getting much better at this 💛
Vera....thank you for yur new video. It really encourages all that watch it to rethink how we live our life, not only in the long run, but also on a day- by -day perspective. As you say, work on all or on a few of the 7 aspects on intetional living, start small and grow...Here some examples on what I do with more intention/awareness/consion ... 1 Physically; drop the amount of alcohol consumed....right now I have a 'white month' meaning no alcohol whatsoever... 3 Spending of resources...more often I choose to walk, ride my bike, take a public transport instead of using the car, which is convenient ...but just takes resources. 4. Everyday environment ....get rid of things, skip 'nice to have' things or meories or gifts that are ugly or just not used. 7 Enough concept....I have enough of books and clothes; I can borrow books instead of buying them, I can easily find good pieces of clothes at second hand shops. I admire your way to go from the buzz word 'intentional living' ...and break it down to actions in our daily life, Your list of 7 areas ...will definitey be a 'quote of the month' in my Bullet Journal, as well as a list on my refrigerator in the kitchen! A final question...why is this way of living not a part of the education in our schools ?? Thanks again, Bengt
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Bengt, I'm happy you enjoyed the video and that the 7 areas resonated with you! Love the examples you shared about how you like to live with more intention. Have a nice weekend!
Very nice video. Thank you. Believe it or not I'm 77 and starting to clear out what I don't need or want anymore and I hope to be intentional with this huge project by giving to organizations that can help others. And, for me, I love the "flow" concept and experience and will be practicing my actions by keeping a present moment and grateful awareness. I have just subscribed to you.
I've been trying to be more intentional about my eating- and by that, I mean I'm trying to learn to slow down and not just inhale my food. I'm still not great at it- I ate way too much the other day for dinner, and I sorely regretted it later... But I've had a few times of success where I felt at ease eating, slowly enjoying a snack, and actually felt at peace with myself while focusing on just that. :D
Ugh, this is me. I tend to just zone out and watch TV and inhale my food and I also overeat which just leads to me feeling miserable later. As weird as it sounds one of my favorite snacks is mozzarella cheese sticks because I peel it layer by layer which for one is fun and two allows me to fully enjoy my snack.
Underneath all my intention, my careful decision making and guarded friendliness is a wild, little animal that looks for a comfy place to sleep and enough food. 😀 Good morning (afternoon) Vera.
I've been eating healthy, having more of a positive mindset & being much kinder to myself 💖. I'm loving your hair naturally wavy like that, it looks so pretty! 😍 Great video! Happy almost Fall! 🍂🌾🌻🍁🧡
Adding more joy or Gezellig into my life when it comes to friendships has been something I've been thinking about recently off and on. I'm a bit of an introvert, but with the friends I already have, I definitely feel like I can be myself around them and talk about anything with them without worrying about the repercussions that would come afterwards.
Hi Vera, wonderful video, as always! I am very new to this mindful living/minimalism journey but so excited by the changes I've already seen in myself. It started with my wardrobe a few months ago, snowballed into the entire house and is spilling over into my heart and mind now :) You have been such a wonderful teacher for me as I've spent the last few weeks working my way through all of your videos and enjoying every minute of them! I am also very easily affected by what I watch and have to be careful to guard my mind and emotions and your videos have been a place of calm and peace for me. I wanted to thank you for everything you do and for sharing your beautiful soul with strangers
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful videos Vera I am loving more intentionally by setting boundaries and communicating more clearly my needs so that I bring clarity in my communications and the thing is to truely stick to it. 🙌
Thank you for another wonderful video! I look forward to them! One of the biggest ways I have started to live more intentionally is learning to say no, and not feeling like I have to give an excuse or explanation. Your channel is one of my very favorites, I appreciate your calm voice and beautiful photos. Believe it or not beautiful pictures of nature encourage me more than anything to declutter. The peace just speaks to my soul! Ps. What is your gorgeous green drink? Thank you Vera for being a beautiful uplifting and encouraging soul, I’m so happy I found you! ❤️
Thank you so much for this sweet comment Michelle! :) Really nice to hear. About the drink, I was drinking a fresh mint tea :) Just some mint leaves in hot water with a teaspoon of agave syrup. Really nice
Vera thank you for this video. I find that getting out in nature really helps change our outlook on everything and does give you a boost on our outlook on what is intentional.🤗❤️
Great video! This is one I will rewatch. I have been more intentional in the people department. I cherish the close family, coworkers, friends, and partner that I have. I am much better at gauging others and am not as easily disappointed. I am trying to work on being more intentional with my devices. Most evenings I am tired and prefer scrolling which makes me feel guilty. Now I try to read or watch a video on at least one topic of interest. That makes me feel productive, and then I spend the rest of the evening scrolling:)
Hi Vera, I wanted to say thank you for your lovely videos! I really enjoy watching them and they help me feel much calmer and more relaxed. I love how you talk and many of your videos have also helped me deal with my anxieties. I really like how you point out that it is important to learn to say "no" and appreciate yourself for what you are. I'm still trying to get better in these two areas, but I feel that with your videos I can already enjoy the process without being too fixated on the result. Greetings from Austria ❤️
Thank you for speaking out about Expectations. I am old enough to be your mother and am still working on that one. You are an excellent role model. Thank you for what you do! BTW, the "You can't change the people..." quote is by Joshua Fields Milburn of The Minimalists.
Hi Vera. I saved this video so that I can go back to it for times when I need to review your tips on intentional living. Good pointers that I can use. Have a lovely day. Thank You.
Loved this! I am far from the life atyle I feel would be best for me, but I'm on the path of building it. I am definitely living intentionally but I also take responsibility that I struggle intentionally. ✌️
Thank you Liana, glad you enjoyed the video! Love what you said about acknowledging and taking responsibility for intentional struggles. Good luck with your channel! :)
I am pretty intentional with my relationships (my friends are very important to me), but other aspects of my life...I am still overall new to intentional living.
I sat down with a pen and notepad and took notes throughout the video. It's kinda scary to realise that I don't do any of the things you mentioned :/ So first I'm going to focus on number 3 (resources) and when I have a clearer vision of that I'll move to number 1 (physically) and slowly work through the rest. Thank you for the clear set up, I'll be watching this video again and again!
Thanks for sharing Erin, happy to hear the video resonated with you :) No worries about how it's going so far. Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can :)
I am resting right now not like sleeping. I've been feeling depressed for a while, and I'll be getting back to painting for my career and dream job which I'll someday accomplish to achieve. If I could paint more not only for my portfolio, yet implement into my life I'd see myself spending less screen time on my phone. Still I like spending time on my phone and iPad, and I am interested to learn more about living an intentional life.
I'm at the place where I want to do things such as get rid of plastic because of the health reasons but it also helps the planet. I watch videos on zero waste and have made some changes in that area, but it really isn't my real goal, although i do want to help the planet anyway I can. Then I start realizing they are more interested in the zero waste part where I want my products I purchase to be more about the ingredients being safe to use. Yes, I do look at the packaging, but some of the products they buy are package free, but the ingredients are harmful, which is a no for me. I love the idea, but I'm kinda lost in what I should be researching. I like the intentional living videos and minimalism/essentialism sort of, but I have lived in the same small home for over 30 years and it is absolutely full of stuff! I don't know where to start! I know to declutter and am slowly working on it, but I guess what my whole comment is about is I'm frustrated because I feel like I'm a mix of several different things and not sure what kind of videos to watch...intentional living videos, minimalism/essentialism videos, frugal living videos, zero waste videos, healthy living videos, etc. It's too overwhelming!
Hi there, thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'm sorry to hear you're feeling overwhelmed. Here's an idea, maybe do a youtube break for about a week? Use that time to reflect by yourself what it is you want and value. Maybe journal a little. Declutter some things here and there you notice aren't adding anything. Sometimes, more input from other people won't make things clearer, it'll just add to the noise. Start with yourself, recenter and go from there :)
I would give watching videos a big break. I had a similar issue in having too many things I wanted to do from watching videos, and not enough time to do them
Hi Vera, thank you so much for this video. Could you recommend certain activities that can help to recharge while having down time? When it is not possible to go outside I catch myself doing things that make me feel more relaxed, like watching a series, but are not helping me to recharge. I hope you have some ideas. Thank you in advance!
Thanks Natjana :) I have a list with 20 of such ideas right in this video, so hopefully you'll be able to find a few that work for you: th-cam.com/video/dsDnEDqYCq8/w-d-xo.html
The point about downtime hit hard 😅 Certainly an area where improvement can - and should - be made. The discussion of "enough" reminded me of a wonderful quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." 🙂
I have a recommendation, it's not specifically about intentional living, but more about slowing down and being intentional in several aspects of life. The book is called "The things you can see only when you slow down" by Haemin Sunim
Subscribing to your Patreon is on my Wishlist for Christmas. Thank you for so many wonderful reminders. Especially that we have the ability to say no/ set our own boundaries. :))
i really hate how i wake up cranky and exhausted, frustrated and stressed / pissed every morning. my whole life. i am 36 and have gone to sleep early, etc. no matter what i do i can't get a good flow for my morning. its my lifes biggest challenge for sure.many years of my life i have miserably pushed through my work day looking forward to getting back home to go back to sleep. its no way to live. not sure what to do
I have to drink 12 glasses of water a day most days.. well my job is very active and I'm over weight. So my body needs more water than someone who is smaller. Cause we are 90% water. But at 220 lbs I have more lbs that are water than somebody who is 120 lbs.
Hi everyone! 🤗🍵 In what ways would you like to live more intentionally? 👇👇

And it’s definitely exacerbated by the western, especially American obsession with productivity and self improvement for their own sake.

An excellent and worthy endeavor. Slow living starts with slow eating. I believe it was the slow food movement that started it all.

I had a similar issue in having too many things I wanted to do from watching videos, and not enough time to do them
Loved this video! Thanks Vera x

Thank you so much...
You're very welcome 🤗
The point about downtime hit hard 😅 Certainly an area where improvement can - and should - be made.
The discussion of "enough" reminded me of a wonderful quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." 🙂
I love that quote! :)
So happy your subs are growing ✅🥰
Aw thank you 🤗🌷
Do you have any recommendations for specific books on intentional living?
I have a recommendation, it's not specifically about intentional living, but more about slowing down and being intentional in several aspects of life. The book is called "The things you can see only when you slow down" by Haemin Sunim
I’m currently working on the « enough » part. 😊
That's great! :)
Great Video 💗
Thank you so much :)

Subscribing to your Patreon is on my Wishlist for Christmas. Thank you for so many wonderful reminders. Especially that we have the ability to say no/ set our own boundaries. :))
i really hate how i wake up cranky and exhausted, frustrated and stressed / pissed every morning. my whole life. i am 36 and have gone to sleep early, etc. no matter what i do i can't get a good flow for my morning. its my lifes biggest challenge for sure.many years of my life i have miserably pushed through my work day looking forward to getting back home to go back to sleep. its no way to live. not sure what to do
Thanks 🌺🌺🌺
You're very welcome, have a nice Monday!
You're a beautiful soul. :)
Aw thank you Ksandra 🤗🌷
And by that I mean so I can make my own intentional choices about leading my life. If that makes any sense. Which it might not…. 🙂
I’d like to stop being driven by guilt. That would be very nice indeed.
That's look very hopeful

I have to drink 12 glasses of water a day most days.. well my job is very active and I'm over weight. So my body needs more water than someone who is smaller. Cause we are 90% water. But at 220 lbs I have more lbs that are water than somebody who is 120 lbs.
I heard The Minimalists say the "Change people" quote.
You look so beautiful with your curled hair 😊
Aw thank you Dominique :) I still can't believe I never knew my hair was naturally wavy haha
Love this idea. I want to have less stuff
