    That must be the world's longest bolt considering how many people just continually turn it.

    I love mechanics . As a young lady ( I’m 27 now ) I loved watching people work on my family cars and my step dad let’s me help him on his cars . I’m not a professional but I just have a soft spot for this area 🤩😍😆

    I’m currently a mechanic at a dealership & I want to join the marines and have a job as a mechanic. What steps did he take to get that job?

    • @imperia2276
      @imperia2276 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It’s really just scoring high enough on the asvab (doesn’t take a high score) and seeing if you qualify to work in the Motor T(Transport) field. Though the marine corps choose which exact job you’ll do in that field. So you could be a driver or something else relating to vehicles but then again you may be a mechanic. It’s all luck after you solidify your position in a specific field. Hopefully this makes sense.

      @@imperia2276 Yea @alex davis is right, im currently enlisted and shipping out in January and my original mos was air crew so I could work with aviation, however depending on what month you ship out determines what jobs are available so for me they dont need any one in air crew for that month so my options were slimmed down to a few jobs and I decided on motor transport and repair which is pretty much a diesel mechanic. Keep in mind i scored a 61 on my ASVAB so I qualified for every job except one.

      @@packzmenace3025 I’m just out of school and want to join the marines to become a diesel mechanic how to I pivot towards that? If I score high enough on the asvab test then do I get to choose a career or do I have to pay for tuition??

    • @kameron_ulibarri3521
      @kameron_ulibarri3521 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nobody-rw1fr enlisted in DEP here, (Delayed Entry Program), leaving August 8th, your first step would be to get connected with a recruiter and get them all of your basic background info and take all of your tests (ASVAB, PICAT, etc.), then you would go to MEPS to get your physical and further testing done to verify your scores on your testing. After that, you would swear in and pick your MOS. Pertaining the Diesel Mechanic field, you have a range of different options, such as CX (Vehicle+Turbine Engine maintenance, Motor T., etc.) As far as tuitionwise, you would serve your contract in the Marine Corps., and have the option of leaving with something called the Montgomery G.I. Bill, which essentially gives you a set amount of tuition that the Marine Corps. will pay for additional schooling after leave, if you choose.

      because in the real world you don't have the time to turn fasteners off one turn at a time with a wrench...All jobs have stringent time limits, and if you don't meet or exceed those limits... you don't get paid. This is the way of flat rate. Civilians have to learn new technology all the time, while the army works on the same ol shit day in and day out. I've been a heavy duty diesel mechanic for the last 10 years, when there is a problem with a piece of equipment I don't have the luxury of 5 other guys helping me with the job. I'm mobile road service btw. If i have to pull and engine and transmission out in the middle of the woods on a logger or excavator or bulldozer, I'm doing it by myself, rain, snow or shine. The military swaddles these guys which doesn't prepare then for the real world.

    • @rybaluc

      You know what is interesting? When american soldiers punch their tire in the middle of the afghanistan, they call support and wait for special unit to change the tire. When czech soldiers punch the tire, they have to change tire or do simple car repairs themselves.
      On the other hand most of my colleagues (we had mandatory military service 10 years ago) told me that if they have to repare military vehicles, it was way too more harsh to repair old clunky cars in military service than in real life. But at the end of the day those old Tatra's have to tow shiny Hummers during joint NATO forces training, because "Humwees" can't go through rough terrain.
