Since I was a small boy I have been fascinated by combine harvesters. I'm now 55 and next month I am going to have a 25 minute driving experience of one and I can't wait!

That was an awesome video. Such a fancy ass farmer with a Panerai on his wrist, harvesting wheat with his son, and has a bunch of the coolest super cars at home, only Harry can be that farmer...
Filthy stinking rich yet so down-to-earth you can't bring yourself to dislike him... plus his enthusiasm is infectious!
He is not a white American, for those, it is all about showing off wealth. He knows how to present himself in a way that makes people like him for for the "person" he is and not because of what "man toys" he got.
Dare I say, even new-money Englishmen tend to wear their wealth more lightly than Americans, there's a kind of self-assuredness that I think comes from history...

As you said, it is history, they get rich but they look at the classy rich people of the past and take them as an example for how man should present himself. That's why British leaders left a good impact when they lived overseas, in the colonies, they became examples of how to be a gentleman...

I have met several people who are millionaires who wear jeans, flip flops, or coveralls and are of all types of personalities, from downright hippies to just regular dudes. California and NY are only 2 parts of a huge country, the rest of the US is a great place to be and has some generally cool people, at all levels of income. Years ago I worked at a dealership in the southeast, the owner owned not just mine but several dealers, and you would not be able to tell him apart from a local farmers market guy selling potatoes. Don't base your opinion of an entire country on what you see on youtube or pop culture news from our ridiculous coastal metropolis areas, that only represents maybe 10% of what America is really like.

Harry, rated Power is the power the combine needs to work at normal workload. Not using the full power to save fuel, produce less co2, etc, so that manufacturers can comply with emissions regulations.
Boosted power is power at peak turbo boost, for extra workload rate. This applies to all agricultural machines these days, tractors, combines, etc.
Never could imagine you farming! Especially with a Panerai on the wrist! Great guy!

Depends on the brands i think, but most of them have to be programed accordingly to the type of work you're doing. Agricultural machinery is much more advanced than cars in terms of power management, efficiency and transmissions and maybe autonomus work.
Maybe, i don't know how Case IH operates.
Just controlling the wastegate on the turbo.
So interesting that certain folk have the gift of holding an audience by their knowledge & love of their subject
Why on earth am I watching a video about how a combine works?
Well, it has a 9-litre engine, which you'll need a ladder to take a look at, and it's Harry doing what he's best at: talking about different kinds of machinery. I'm happy!

Absolutely riveting. I grew up on a farm in Co. Cork and remember well how we progressed from a McCormick reaper-and-binder, which looked like a mobile windmill, to a silver Claas combine harvester, with a bagging platform, halfway up one side, that was manned by two workers. It looked like a battleship. Harvesting remained a great local occasion, despite the change in machinery, but the combine's arrival meant that I missed the drama of watching the threshing-machine in operation, driven off the side-pulley of a Fordson tractor (the old dark blue model). It looked like a brown wooden house - and was almost as big - rumbling and shaking, every bit of it in motion.
was more work back then but the crop was worth a lot more ......
See that's what I love about youtube - here's a video I would never have looked up on my own but because it's Harry I watched it - and I learnt something, and it's great!! Who knew that combines could be so interesting and complicated! Thanks Harry & Charlie👌

Brilliant. Not many farmers harvest a field wearing Persols and a Panerai. Legend. (Edited to add after reading some of the comments below...this is purely an observation of Harry's personal style).
Only the legend Harry could make a combine sound exciting and interesting.
I eagerly await Harry's videos on a lawnmower, a hairdryer and a toothbrush.

Watching combines was one of my favorite past times when i was younger, I miss living on a farm

Fantastic. As a kid I had a toy garage full of Lamborghinis, E Types and some Brittains Farm Toys including a baler and combine harvester. Basically Harry has my toys in real life... it is awesome.

The Combine is the ultimate multitasker. With one pass it cuts, strips the seed & cleans it, distributes the hay, can unload directly into a truck driving parallel or fill the bin, then unload parked. A true workhorse!
I actually prefer this to luxury car reviews. This and the series I land rover vid are my favourites.

I'm in New York City, and the last thing I'd want to hear about is combines and tractors....but Harry makes this all very interesting. He could be explaining different tricycles and I would definitely tune in.

To be honest, I want more machinary review videos from Harry.
I love it. Just yesterday, I was at my friend's farm and had left some rye uncut on the field. We sickled it, bashed the grain into a wheelbarrow and piled the straw. What a coincidence to see how its done by real men. Great vid. Enjoy them all.

Absolutely fascinating, and very interesting! Our local farmer has a 2013 Claas Lexion 630. He appeared quite surprised when I asked him all about it. I was amazed that it has auto pilot steering, and body levelling. He's had it from new, must have cost a small fortune.

Fantastic stuff Harry! As an American who spent part of his childhood in Kansas (a major wheat producing state) I can completely appreciate how necessary (and valuable) these combines are for farmers. I remember on some of the giant wheat farms which sometimes measured a couple thousand acres, watching 7-8 combines all side by side harvesting the wheat. So it's fascinating to see how these mini factories actually work. And although I'm a European sports car fanatic at heart, I love learning about anything born of mechanics and design. Thanks Harry. A red mid-engined two-seater with 300+ horsepower - exactly the kind of vehicle one would expect to see here ;) - very interesting to see the inner workings exposed like this. I will not look at combines they way I did before, anymore. Great stuff
Harry's Garage, wonderful person, and very educative video. I enjoyed immensely. I have never made really what goes on behind all this. I was impressed by joysticks and GPS stuff. 7 year old me used to love watching the combines on the farm we lived on in the 1980s, two big JD 1085s and a two New Holland’s. Still like to see them in the fields in the summer to this day. The Axial Flows were revolutionary and met with a lot of sceptics back then but now every major Combine maker has a rotary combine in some shape as its flagship.
REALLY good and informative video but explained simply. Harry is too good for the likes of top gear! Superb!!

Wasn't it grain silos? Bank turned him down for publishing (Performance Car had just gone bust, which is where Harry got most of his writers), so he went back and asked for the same dosh by lying to them about his intentions... somehow they didn't notice, and it all worked out for the best, Harry clearly knew how to run a tight ship - Evo has never really been the same since he sold up.

It takes me back when to when I worked for agricultural college and went out on the combines sometimes. One of the techies was absolutely BORN on one and no one could get near him for ability.
A great look a round. GPS was just coming out when I Left the college 20 years ago.
