  • This episode is all about growing cucumbers from seed to harvest in a small edible garden in a cool climate region. Planting cucumbers in a raised bed and large pot, trellising and eating!
Thank you to Julie for the salad and Marisa for filming the preparation. Thank you to Joyce for sharing the cucumbers and her stories.
Episode (and edible plant) number 11

What's not to love about cucumbers?! One of our favourite sides with dumplings. Will try this recipe next time. I can see it being added to our regular fare.

I wish i could grow a radish..😐 a garden, does not seem to be my path, to a healthy self-esteem...(how i wish it were so...i would like to create, a stellar gaspacho).

They are quite easy - you could grow them in a window box

@@Growyourowncoolclimatecool climate appears to have fewer pests...the tropics can be disheartening (tiny little grasshoppers), lovely butterflies, (but a high price in caterpillars)..I need dedicated hothouse..

@@duellingscarguevara because we have a certain amount of below -7 degrees C days in winter and it kills off the fruit fly. But this summer has been a real challenge. Really humid and wet which is unusual and not that great for stone fruit when it's ripening

@@Growyourowncoolclimate nature is a harsh mistress?, remarkable, (but makes sense), many trees need a frost to turn?. I've had some success with opening seed pods with fire too ..

@@Growyourowncoolclimate my grandad was a market gardener, fruit-fly, was the bane of their existence, I recall..(we had a beautiful fig in our yard..those bad boys are $1.50 each now (trying to sprout seeds, maybe haven't dried them enough).
