    Hi, my name is Merrill Kazanjian. New York City is an amazing place to go metal detecting. We have lots of parks, colonial history and great beaches for beach detecting. I have gone to all five boroughs of New York City To Metal Detect and beyond. I also currently own 19 metal detectors. I want to have the best and I want to help you choose the best as well. Merrill!!! You need to discover the long press noise cancel procedure on the Manticore!!! Press and HOLD the noise cancel button for 10 to 15 seconds (or longer!) and let it cycle through the channels until it settles down! This will allow you to run a hotter sensitivity in addition to running more stable!

    A lesson on holes and filling them in i learned a few years ago was when i returned to a park a second day a lot of my holes were re dug, at first i thought it was someone else but then realized it was probably a skunk or racoon redigging my plugs to get at grubs in the ground which were plentiful in that park. The ground was too dry for the dirt to stick back together and was easy for them to redig.

    Thanks as always for great content. I am currently a legend user and was getting hyped about purchasing a manticore. I know this is just one video, but I can’t see 1,000.00 edge on buying one now. As with the nox which I used prior, they continue to false on iron after swinging back over target, making you guess. I have found that the legend will false on initial swing but when swinging back it won’t be fooled twice. I also run my iron bias low on legend.

      @@CuttingEdgeEngineering--- MERRILL, I am sick. I have "white lung". The dr drained two liters of fluid from my right lung. I've isolated myself from my friends. I am isolated from my one friend who I go to when I can't figure out how to fix my laptop. I tried to send you a telegram but was unsuccessful. I am retarded when it comes to computers. Until it feels it's safe to visit my friend I cannot send you a telegram. When I went to an app store and tried to download, my laptop went crazy? I know I probably should not have gone metal detecting these last few days, but I am hooked maybe more than you are and with these storms we've been having out here on the west coast, I just had to go. My last two trips I got five silver coins, a silver bracelet, and a 14k ring. Last night I sleep ten hours so I know I'm still sick. As soon as I feel better I will visit my friend and have her set me up with the telegram app and send you a message. Until then keep putting out videos and I'll keep watching, and I will keep metal detecting even if it kills me. Why, because I am blown away by my Deus II. Last time to the old neighborhood I did dug a Mercury Dime, two Buffalo Nickels, and two Wheaties from a short curb strip.
      Merrill GO GO GO.

      Old pig iron that's in the shape of a nail or a bar it will disrupt every VLF metal detector there's not one that can stop iron wire or bars from falsing it's called wrap around. It's the effect of electromagnetism in iron creating a N/S pole effect one is iron or ground the other is your contive target hit. If the detector is using an AC current that N/S pole reverses with the AC current change thus wrapping around and causing falsing. I know you don't know me from anybody but watch and see if your Deus II is the better detector in discing out iron while being able to run her hotter. If you get a questionable target flip it to deep silver or what's it called on the Deus high conductor? In that mode switch from dual frequency to the low 4 kHz then listen to it. It will hit a coin harder and run stable then flip back to dual frequency to continue on if it's your favorite mode to hunt. If you're mostly looking for coins and there's little chance of say a deep musket balls or small gold charms for instance then staying in the single frequency (4 kHz) might help you run smoother and cut that light iron chatter noise out but it certainly won't hurt on coin hunting. Your lower single frequency does not cause depth lost. The worse that can happen is the VDI is not 100% as it is in the dual but if it's audio is hitting a target cleanly then you've got to dig it. I mean you don't have to do anything you don't want to again it's just IMO but on faint signals with coin range VDI what would it hurt to test it by flipping it to the single 4 kHz and test it a couple of times to hear what the difference is? You might even be able to raise the power a little bit also being low frequencies are generally more stable including EMI. It's just a suggestion that's meant to try and help but what you do is absolutely your choice.
      Happy Hunting

      @@jeanponce2017 Jean, I thank you for wanting to help me. I really appreciate it, more than you know. I absolutely love the way my Deus II is working and am afraid to change anything. I don't mind digging a little iron, I don't dig that much and I am loving how I am digging good targets (silver and copper coins) going back to places I have detected before with my NOX 800. Two days ago, I metal detected a small section of curb strip, and dug two Wheaties, two Buffalo Nickels, and a Mercury, all up to ten inches, and did not dig a single piece of iron.
      That being said, I think I will try your advise on a different mode and see what happens. Thank you so much
      Harry
      After going over your comment again something I should tell you. I struggle with computers, and when I got my Deus II, I drove over 250 miles to have "The Hunter GT" program my detector. I was going on a fishing trip so the drive was not much out of the way. I told The Hunter, I want a coin program. I want to hunt in park mode. I told him I heard when you discriminate you lose depth. I don't know what frequency I hunt in. I do know when detecting my machine is quiet, there is not much noise going on. That is because using the volume settings, for every target that is not a nickel, or a copper penny the volume is very low. So when walking along, swinging, and when I hear a loud beep, I stop in my tracks and investigate. High conductive 91 and up, and 62-63 (nickel ) vid's are loud. I don't know for sure, I'm thinking I am not discriminating and losing depth. I use volume control so I can get the best depth I can. Another thing, as with all other detectors I have used in the past (NOX 800, ATMax, E-Trac, etc) the Deus II VID numbers are very close to being accurate when the target is deep or faint. Of course, I use Beach mode when at the beach, and with the storms here on the west coast I've dug six silver coins one silver ring one silver bracelet, and a 14k ring in just the last few days. I LOVE my Deus II !!!

  • @unlock_your_dream_home
    @unlock_your_dream_home ปีที่แล้ว

    According to the manual the enhanced audio mode is meant to help in areas of high EMI and the depth mode is for areas of high trash/iron infestation. One would think the depth audio mode would be for deep signals but not the case.

      And BTW it's 3 guys who are 100% professionals with a different machine. None are favoring any detector, showing brand loyalty they are respectful not like a lot of those knuckleheads down south. They do though recommend settings. 2 of them are 40+ year hunting professionals. The man shooting not only beach and land hunts but he dives and shoots videos of hunts with every underwater and land detector out there. He speaks with detector manufacturers engineers and discuss settings when he thinks something is off and could be better.

    Merrill, I really enjoy your channel!! Love the live feeds too! I’m so glad you disabled ground “Tracking” on your machine at your trashy turf sites….I made that suggestion to you on your last video you made….👍🏼👍🏼
    Just some constructive criticism here, Merrill! I know it’s gotta be difficult doing a live feed with your headphones off (for us to hear your targets) while concentrating on detecting at the same time….multi-tasking is difficult when there’s a plethora of targets under our coils. You have my utmost respect for providing your watchers these live feeds! 🤘👍🏼……………..17:45 The only way to truly know what you’ve got in those deep targets you located is to “remove” the item in the hole….you were 90% invested already…..the last 10% is the true “learning experience!”……with most VLF machines, when you open a deep plug like that, your machine will be ground balancing air (when you originally had it balanced to the actual ground) when you swing over the hole….plus you may have broken the halo around any old target and weakened the signal quite a bit…..signal integrity won’t be as good swinging over deep open holes either (which you alluded to in this live feed)……I wish I could follow behind you and re-dig the targets you were just inches away from recovering, but instead saying “it’s probably iron”.
    I’ve seen way too many treasure hunters do this….I have swung over so many old plugs at the parks I have hunted for decades and found keeper targets in them (big silver, small silver, coppers, artifacts, jewelry,and iron) that the previous hunter gave up on after digging their original plug….it’s also possible that they did recover a target from their plug, but just forgot to re-check their open hole ….or they gave up entirely on the target because the signal sounded bad after opening the plug……
    At 48:35 you investigated to see if something good was being masked by iron, dug out the iron, and rechecked the hole 👍🏼👍🏼. Very good practice!! 👏
    1:08:10 and 1:11:53 “Always” re-check your hole “after” you put the plug back….even if you removed a piece of iron from the plug and you swung your coil over the open hole previously.
    On a different note, “Setting Sensitivity”: before lowering sensitivity, try doing a noise cancel (long press and hold on manticore is a new feature for a ML machine)….I hunt in very noisy urban city parks, and I noise cancel often on my Nox (and Explorer)….only if my machine can’t find a less noisy channel, do I lower the sens a notch or two (but I usually will run my machines chirpy before reducing sens too low).
    Sorry for being so “Nit-picky”…….I think we’re never too old to practice better habits, no matter what we do in life and how long we’ve been doing it….I’m routing for you to find all those elusive remaining targets at your heavily pounded sites!! It’s gonna take more than just a state of the art $1600 machine to do it!! 💪🏼💪🏼

    Hi Merrill, some ideas for you.
    Try to promote the Environmental aspect of Metal Detecting when people come up to you (and take note) some detecting clubs register as environmental groups.
    For instance we remove sharp objects from the environment even hypodermic needles and blades. Also we remove highly toxic metals; lead being extremely toxic to wildlife and flora in the sea and land. We remove a lot of toxic lead and copper. Canslaw is also very sharp.
    We also remove litter like pull tabs and bottle caps.
    I have pulled very sharp objects from the beaches and land. Lead kills sea-life too such as Sea Horses to mention just one ex ample. The Environmental argument is a good reply to awkward Anti-Barry’s. Especially if you are registered as an environmentalist. 🤔

    I suspect you and your buddies detected many of those iron targets you dug up, but experience with the 800 told you guys to keep walking.

      @danblankenship5744 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@925inder2 5-Khz is the lowest that the Manticore offers at this time.
      Every single frequency has its strengths and weaknesses and each will react differently to the various conductivities it sees in the ground. Multi-IQ was developed to help smooth out the spectrum of all different targets. Now you have a chance to find that thin gold chain, but those high-conductive ferrous targets (rusty iron) use all of those frequencies and create massive levels of eddy currents flooding the detector and the display showing a ferrous target in the non-ferrous side.
      Many times a single frequency will lower the eddy currents in a ferrous target enough to allow the display to show its true nature.
      You could use any single frequency, but if it's a deep target then the lower frequencies will penetrate further.

    • @925inder2
      @925inder2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @dan blankenship very good points Dan. I typically don't check targets with single frequency on the Nox 800 I use as I find generally it is just easier to dig up the target. I am aware of others doing that with 4khz or the closest on manticore would be 5. I typically confirm targets with ID in pinpoint method. I find this to be very indicative of the quality of target. So jumpy high tone target on Nox will ID in the higher range of jumpiness if it is silver or copper and lower end if it is mixed metal alloy. For this to be accurate one needs to be right over the target in pinpoint mode. I do hunt in 40 kHz. as I am in Canada and our iron core clad will generally show up in high mid to low high tone range. It is also a good frequency for small gold, although not as deep. In your opinion would lower frequency be more usefull than multi to look for coins in heavily pounded spot (dirt) where possibility of deep missed targets exists?

      @@Osmiculture The Fisher F-Pulse and Teknetics Tek-point are identical except for the color! You save about $10.00 USD with the Teknetics Tek-point.
      I've purchased the Fisher F-Pulse because of the highly mineralized soil that I'll be visiting in the future.
      It appears to me that most of the videos demonstrating the Pulse Induction pinpointers are done by people that didn't read the manual, don't realize that it utilizes pulse induction, and that its utility is not germane to VLF pinpointers.
      When the demonstrator encounters an issue with the PI pinpointer that the VLF pinpointers don't have and they don't know how to rectify the problem, or are unaware that there is a limitation to PI utility. They then come to the conclusion that there's something wrong with PI pinpointers.
      It's not for everyone and it's not for every type of environment. But it has it's advantages as do the VLF pinpointers. One detector doesn't rule them all, same goes for pinpointers.
      Osmiculture do you recall what video you watched that had the exhaustive depth test review?

    • @pigeonbloodruby5330
      @pigeonbloodruby5330 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Osmiculture Yes there are other methods to Air Test and demonstrate hidden features.
      Watch the attached videos, some observations:
      Notice on the detection field mapping the orientation of the coin. The Face of coin is always parallel to the probe.
      A tougher test is with the coin on edge. I'm going to try these two test for myself.
      Note also that they didn't verify that the detection field goes up the handle to the ON/OFF button. The detection field is bigger than what they have shown, at least for Pulse Induction pinpointers. Slide a metal artifact up to the switch, it still detects. Something to be aware of when scanning the side walls a hole.
      I have experimented with the Fisher F-Pulse today for the following concern that most people point out. The detection range is too much for accurate target locating.
      An argument that a lot of people make against the PI pinpointers, is that they are not capable of zeroing in precisely on the artifact location.
      I came up with a method that allows for very close detection of artifacts using a Pulse Induction pinpointer, that I believe may rival a VLF pinpointer. This method has a few limitations. It also, if I'm permitted to exaggerate, increases the Sensitivity quantity from 3 to 6, each reducing the distance to the target.
      I like how this demonstration compares the detection field to VLF pinpointers.
      Fisher f-pulse pinpointer review
      th-cam.com/video/ETulHgZaS0k/w-d-xo.html
      I like the that this person really loves the Fisher F-Pulse and has replaced it with another after they lost it. They detect in highly mineralized soil in New Zealand.
      What is the best pinpointer? Fisher Fpulse vs Minelab Profind35 vs Nokta Pointer!
