    Been thinking about getting Stryd. It’s also more accurate on distance than pace than a gps watch which is critical when racing and trying to PR. Thanks for the great informative video

    Already have a Stryd... but this is quite the endorsement. Out of curiosity, what is the critical power of an Olympian? ( I feel like disappointing myself today, I guess. laugh)

    The Stryd pods are super easy to use. You can just put it on a shoe and forget about it. Very nice product. I didn't find mine to be super helpful but it's just not a metric that I felt I needed for running. (As opposed to cycling, where I find power extremely beneficial)

    Very timely video for me! I got a Stryd for Christmas and for the life of me cannot figure out the metrics data can help me as a competitive but not elite runner. If you have someone like this coach to interpret the data it is probably a great tool but this is more of a tool for experts more than average runners.

    • @Stryd
      @Stryd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Monte. Thanks for your comment and support of Stryd. Stryd works extremely well for competitive runners like yourself, as well as elites! We would be happy to personally walk you through (via phone call or video chat) how to get the most benefit out of your Stryd experience. Please email us at support@stryd.com to setup a time to talk.

      For a power meter on a bike, you can pace yourself on your bike in real time. I feel like this is just a post race analysis tool for coaches. I'm not sure why Stryd doesn't talk more about how to use the data. The more data is not always better, especially for athletes that don't have the time to analyze 7 data points for every single run.

    • @HiddenDriveways
      @HiddenDriveways 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@dhavlin Post-workout analysis is a big part of using Stryd, but it's an amazing tool to have during runs and races. I monitor my power on my Garmin watch as I run. In races I determine a power zone to maintain, and rely on it primarily. The courses I run have rolling hills (and some flats). The hills make pace and heart rate fairly unreliable. If I'm hitting my power number, I know I'm right were I need to be. Sometimes I look and see that I can turn it up and pass some people. Often times on hills I end up letting people pass me to maintain my power range, but I catch most of them later.

      Biggest value for me is the treadmill calibration so that I'm running consistently (treadmill says 12kmh, but actual pace is closer to 5:20 pace). Second key use is maintaining power across a head and a tailwind.

    I run with Stryd too! Cheers!
    The only drawback, if you run with Stryd clipped on a shoe like Pegasus Turbo shield, the Power comes out to be around 200-300 watts higher than what it would because it is not aerodynamically shielded... Maybe they can work around the problem ?

    • @Stryd
      @Stryd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Arunaabh. Thanks for your comment and support of Stryd. On a shoe that features a gaiter like this, it is necessary to place the new Stryd on the outside of the gaiter so that it has access to the external running environment. I recommend sewing a shoelace-like attachment on the outside of the gaiter so that the placement resembles a standard shoe. Alternatively, you can choose to not fully zip the gaiter and place Stryd near the top of the shoe laces. Please reach out to us at support@stryd.com if you have any questions about this and we will help.

    How is the Stryd data impacted by a shoe like Nike Vaporfly NEXT% that has slanted laces and thus different pod placement?

    • @Stryd
      @Stryd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Chris. Thanks for your comment. You should try your best to place Stryd in a consistent location between shoes. But, even if the placement is not perfect, there is minimal to no difference to Stryd's metrics since Stryd is robust to different placements on the shoe.
      Please reach out to us at support@stryd.com if you have any specific problem or question with your shoe.

    If you don’t have a 50/50 balance between your legs will the Stryker power data still be accurate since it’s only on one foot?

    • @Stryd
      @Stryd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment Lucas. While it is possible for runners to have an imbalance between their legs, it has not been conclusively shown that this kind of imbalance is bad or can even be fixed, expect possibly in the case of injury recovery. So, the quantification of these differences is not necessarily important. By capturing Stryd data on a single leg, much of the important data can be captured for the purpose of collecting power data.

      In regards to Aubrey et al:
      "In fact, their paper had what in academic science are called “fatal flaws,” methodological issues so profound that they fundamentally change the study’s conclusion. We first contacted numerous colleagues in academia with neutral opinions of Stryd to verify their assessment of the methodological flaws we found in the methodology. Without exception, they agreed that these were fatal flaws."

      Thanks for your interest in Stryd, Paul. Gwen has been using Stryd for over two years now. The level of detail required to discuss how the numbers are being used would require more than a ~10 minute video. So, a high level overview is more appropriate for this context. If you would like to go deeper learn more about how running power is used, I recommend to start by reading our power training manual at www.stryd.com/guide
