    I had to look up deplored since I always thought that was a negative word. Now I know that the doctor was actually loved and missed by his patients. You're never too old to learn!

      i thought that as well and the definition is to express strong disapproval. What did they mean by inscribing that? The next statement put him as the benefactor.

      It has two meanings it's older meaning was to strongly feel sorrow.

      Somewhat like the word 'terrific', though the latter went from a negative to a positive connotation. 🙂

    • @hatednyc
      @hatednyc 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@quentincollins1825 I’d argue terrific has neither a negative nor positive connotation and depends instead on the context as would a word like extraordinary. In modern times it’s used incorrectly to mean something wonderful.

    Do you know why these chutches were abandoned an 11:05 d left to fall into ruin? It can't be a light decision to let a house of God fall by the way. It's not as if the graveyard was left, too, as new headstones can be seen. Was there a newer church nearby GV. And was there a rough date as to when the church was abandoned. How long would it take to fall into that state of disrepair? Would it have been "cannibalised" for things such as roof tiles to build other dwellings? Sorry to be a pain, GV
    God made me curious! 😊

    • @GraveVisitations
      @GraveVisitations  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Alot of these old churches had roofs taken off and left like like this. Would cost alot im sure to replace and fix up. I just found out that the cemetery had extreme flooding in 2014 and locals were very upset over graves washed away etc

    • @angietunstall2555
      @angietunstall2555 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @GraveVisitations Hm! Interesting, GV. Shane about the flooding , but climate change (grr!) and a gradual change in water courses over the decades, and even more, centuries can not be predicted when foundations are first laid, or the first bodies buried. I appreciate you letting me know this facts, GV! You're a star 🌟 🤩

    I thought this cemetery was very well kept considering most of the deceased are squeezed in there together. It is not disrespectful, they have just decided to use every piece of open turf for burials. It really is close together so one has to walk on the curbing until someone breaks an ankle! It was still a magical place Cathal! Thanks for taking us there! ♥️🙏🇮🇪

    Very interesting church ruins and graveyard. The large mausoleum was particularly interesting. It probably was broken into sometime in the past, and the remains were probably reburied somewhere else. I noticed an article of clothing left behind.
    The last mausoleum you looked at,
    I saw the skull and some bones, but no messy remnants of a coffin.
    ( Unless you saw something that I did not. ) It actually looked pretty clean to me. Thank you very much GV and Sue, for a very interesting video. Have a great day. 😊

    Such a tidy cemetery. You've made me curious about these places & the stories.
    I stopped at Sandgate Cemetery today & someone from County Clare was there. Many were from 1880's & most in horrible disrepair, fallen headstones with lichen. Many had collapsed slabs & in 1 part something had been tunnelling under the slabs. Looked like a fox dens, maybe rabbits too. Was very hot & barren place but I looked around for 1hr.
    I brushed the dirt off a fallen stone & sharp pain like a stab to the finger. Neville someone, I know it was him telling me to sod off.

After that I wandered to the 2 crypt mausoleum things with a sore finger saying "Why Neville, why?". There are 85,000 graves there so I only saw a bit.

It's a very old graveyard....thats why the graves are so near....but there are 2 new extensions....the 1st one is nearly full....the 2nd extension only opened in the last 2 to 3 years, the graves there are properly spaced out. Pity you missed the headstone at the end of the graveyard, a funeral director (R.I.P) donated it, in memory of all the people who died in the famine. May all who lie in this graveyard, Rest in Peace 🙏🙏🙏

    Hello you two! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a crowded graveyard since I visited Haworth and the rectory and graveyard where the Brontë sisters lived with their father who was the rector ! I’m glad the way we collect drinking water these days, as a lot of people there died because water ran through the graves and poisoned the drinking water further down the hill. I’m sure you know what I’m muttering about , anyway…I’m so pleased to see so much of interest here, but as you say, older folk would have a terribly time trying to reach graves of loved ones! I fell over visiting my parents grave not so long since, but I turned into Alice in Wonderland that day, as there are so many rabbits and holes I caught my foot in one in the long grass and went down with a whallop! Not to be recommended!!
    Cathal, I’d like to ask what make of video camera your using please? You, more than Sue ( sorry Sue!) seem to pick up far more EVP’s when your out these days, and on a previous sad video with the famine graves, paupers graves, even mausoleum! I was hearing them through your camera loads of times! It’s either that Spirit recognises you both for visiting graveyards , so feel more comfortable talking, or you/we are getting more used to hearing them…I don’t know which, but I think it’s lovely if they do feel completely comfortable with you both. I enjoy watching a young man called Dalen Spratt on utube who goes round to talk to spirits who may not get visitors or talked to in a long time. It’s amazing how pleased they are that someone has done that…and word spreads as they often know his name before he says it, so they must talk! He isn’t disrespectful at all, and it’s really interesting.
    He visited a slave grave area, ( he’s black african American, his mother a Babtist minister)
    And they were pleased to talk..but then he was at a plantation owners grave another day and the spirit was so rude! Shouting he’s Black! So they havnt learnt very much since they passed, and should be more aware of the bad things they did back in the day.
    Anyway I apologise for digressing then, but I find the things spirit can tell about their lives is fascinating….they want to talk. Even a Nun who has several little orphans buried around her talks to him, and explains their stories . She was so pleased when he took little toys for the children and flowers for her, as she had never been given flowers before.
    I think since you started you have had more experiences…and I’d still love to know who was in that little overgrown graveyard in the field, which had a sort of bower with an owl, windchime, even Holy water. I think you said a brother and sister were buried there….I just mention as you talked of going back when the overgrowth and brambles etc had died back.
    Thankyou for taking us on this perilous adventure with nowhere to safely walk! Maybe the large gravestones have been lain down in case they fell on people…they is so much legal issues now with tilting grave stones etc..I know where my parents are buried notes were stuck to several, and then they were literally pushed over by the graves man. They notes asked relatives of dcd with stone to make them safe or they would be removed against the church wall! I think it’s awful as once moved they won’t remember where the grave is!
    How times change, and I hate it, I’ve had the base of my parents stone replaced with a larger squarer one so it won’t tilt over now! 🙀 what a worry!
    Sorry I’ve written you both so much! Ooh..in the mausoleum with the sheet /cloth still there I’m sure I saw the part of the skeleton called the sacrum…from the very lower part of your spine…have a look and see what you think. Take care! Look forward to more by you both!
    Love and light Helen 🙋‍♀️👏🏻👏🏻👍💕🥰🙏💐xx

      Hi Helen thank you for the comment please be careful when walking I hope you are OK now ❤️ regarding the evps I use a normal Android phone nothing special really and a mic to block out the wind etc. I think spirits are attracted to me even since I was very young. But I never fear them because I know they mean no harm.

    Sad to see remains scattered occasionally about in the mausoleums. I wonder what causes this - grave robbers, floods, rodents or other? Any ideas, anyone?

      For your information I don't walk on graves, I walk on kerbs around them. Local man who I spoke to on the day told me family members have no choice but to walk over some to get to others etc. Would you prefer I floated over?

    In 🇮🇹 Italy families respect the their deceased loved ones. After 25yrs of internment, the family use to open the niches to collect the bones skeletal remsins to olace in white sheet or muslin cloth..then go place remains in an. ossuary..

      I used to do rubbings with brown paper and black chalk on the old stones that were difficult to read. I grew up across the street from a huge old cemetery in New Castle, my mom should have known back then I was into the macabre. I would hang them on my bedroom walls.
