Maggie Xiaomin Wu Thank you for your comment. I edited the film and it was a joy to make, but as a non Chinese person I, along with the Director and Presenter, very much wanted to make a respectful and celebratory film about Chinese culture, so your response is grateful appreciated.
Now this being said and to keep China honest too. Let's not forget that this is also thanks to the Brits and the French that some of these treasures still exist, because when Mao took over, he demanded that all marks of luxury were destroyed , and the Chinese surely took care of destroying , burning down and wipe out any evidence of the old imperial families . So let's not be too harsh on the French and Brits. Yes what we did was unforgivable , but what the Maoist Chinese did to China is just as bad, and they did it to their own people .
I used to believe the same thing as you do, but then I actually went to China. There are museums, monuments, etc, all over China today where you can find real antique treasures. China is too huge, its history too long, for all to be destroyed in just two years of political upheaval. You're just trying to whitewash imperialism.
Excellent documentary. Very informative
Well made documentary. As a Chinese, I'm impressed.
