1sg can you make a leadership video on how to stay positive when literally anything that can go wrong is happening? Obviously resilience training is the easy answer but sometimes I have no words. Thank-you for all the study videos and tips.

Good morning top! I’m currently deployed and I’m having a really rough time dealing with very toxic leadership. There’s a lot of favoritism things be swept under the rug. I’ve been promotable since January but for some reason still can’t get promoted so I can be in a position to protect other soldiers. Can you please send some wisdom my way. Thank you 🙏🏼

If something is happening that is illegal, unethical, or immoral I would encourage you to seek counsel thru CoC, EO, SHARP, CID, Legal, IG, etc depending on the specifics.
If otherwise, know that being present and living your values does more than you can imagine. Keep mastering your craft and putting your best foot forward. Don’t forget your why.
I hope there is someone in your NCO Support Channel that you can have a candid conversation with in the process.
Will discuss more in a follow on video.

    Good morning 1SG Stoker!
I got tagged last minute for BWC and during my prep came across your videos. My sponsor has never gone to a board and neither have I - your videos are a GREAT help and I am VERY THANKFUL you made them!!!
I have a quick question regarding your biography for the board. My unit wants me to use this format…
    COMPETITOR’S BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
(Rank and Last Name) serves as a (MOS/Position) with the (unit of assignment). (Rank and Last Name) has been in the Army (TIS) and has served in numerous assignments and or deployments (if applicable). (Rank and Name) is (Airborne/Air Assault/Combat Lifesaver qualified, etc.) (if applicable). A native of (Hometown and State), (Rank and Name) is (married/single) with (number of children) (if applicable) and is currently pursuing or holds (type of degree) (if applicable). (Rank and Last Name)’s personal interests are (state interests) and long and short term goals are (state goals).
What could I add to really stand out from my competitors? Or definitely make sure to include....?
I want to say something like this:
“My name is SSG (Last and 1st name). I was born in “City, State” and raised in the ___ area. I joined the Army on MM DD YYYY as a 68W. I have been assigned to 4 different units throughout my military career. I am currently assigned to _”unit”__ and serve as the S1 NCOIC. I have 8 years of experience in S1 and on the civilian side I am a Human Resource Specialist for G1 at _____. I graduated from “___University”” in MM YYYY with a Bachelors in Management with a Concentration in Organizational and Developmental Leadership. My short term goals include winning BWC, going to 42A reclass, and ALC. My long term goals include getting my Masters in Human Resource Management as well as becoming a Sergeant Major.”

Your written bio needs to follow the example your Bn provides. But your spoken bio can be different. I’d submit that it probably should be.
What will set it apart is rehearsing it - don’t say hmm, uhm, oh and, etc.
include where your from, your military career, family (if married), hobbies, short/long term goals.
This is your time to tell us something we don’t know - or can’t read on your ERB. Make it personal. Make it real.
What you’ve got going looks good

1SGT, I go to the Soldier of the Quarter Best Warrior competition board in 4 days, I have been studying and for the past two weeks and going with your videos too, I am confident but, it’s my first board and my SRB is empty, I have 1 month time in grade as a SPC, only 2 awards, I shot 24 in the cold in Alaska last year and never had the time to go back and shoot, 78 Course Hours. I have a 275 pt but it’s a competition board, do you think my SRB and the fact that I haven’t been send to school or been rewarded award, do you think that can be a pothole for me ? Can a soldier still win a division board if he demonstrates excellence, but he doesn’t have all the other extra stuffs his peers have ?

    • @BillStoker
      @BillStoker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

You dang straight you can! Listen, your records *may* come up, but if they do, just retain your confidence. Only hiccup would be shooting 24. You can't control schools or awards. But you already have 78 hours - that's awesome! You scored a 275 - that's awesome!
Keep rehearsing the first few minutes (reporting, bio, creeds, unit history, etc) - and working off your MOI and you'll be GTG!! Oh, and get some edge dressing on your shoes.
