Dolphin Pool Cleaner Vs Polaris Pool Cleaner: Which is Better?

  • Polaris 9550 Sport Robotic Pool Cleaner vs Dolphin Premier Robotic Pool Cleaner - Pool ownership can be a ton of fun, especially in the summer months when the sun is high and the days drag on.
Keeping that pool swimmable, however, requires regular cleaning and maintenance.
Luckily, pool owners can buy self-guided pool cleaners that will regularly circulate through the water and remove debris all along the walls and floors.
These pool cleaners aren’t cheap, but they do enable pool owners to take a more hands-off approach to keeping their pool tidy.
Dolphin and Polaris are two of the top pool-cleaning brands, producing automated pool cleaners that will routinely scrub every square inch of your pool, keeping the water clear and the surfaces algae-free.
The Dolphin Premier Robotic Pool Cleaner uses SmartNav technology to roam around your pool, cleaning as it goes, and comes with a multi-filter system to ensure debris of all sizes is caught.
Meanwhile, the Polaris F9550 Sport Pool Cleaner can clean a slightly larger pool and comes standard with a remote control to program your device to your liking.

Where are the tests and challenges? Just repeating sales and marketing junk is not a review.

How can this be an un-biased review? You recommend the Polaris even though the cable is not "swivel anti-tangle" and sometimes "flips over while climbing a vertical wall and isn't able to right itself. The pool owner may need to get into the pool to flip it back over. And some have reported the seam of the filter basket tore after minimal use." These are design flaws and poor quality control. You are recommending an inferior pool cleaner as "the obvious winner" because of a lower price, a remote and a cheap plastic caddy. Then there is a plug for "Best Reviews" product review company while showing bunch on people taking phones calls. Its that how they review products? It is so obvious this is a Polaris commercial.

I've had 2 Polaris 9550s. The first I inherited with the house. It quit after a year with an error 10 (electrical issue). Since parts are expensive and I didn't know how old it was so I bought another one and after 3 years, same thing. This time I bought a new cable $329, didn't fix the issue. I then bought a new control unit on Amazon, $529 worked good for 1 week then started getting the same error message. I've returned the control unit as this means the problem is in the machine. I spent enough time and money on this expensive piece of crap and looking to buy something else. This video was very little help. I can attest to the canisters tearing easily and they do flip over and stay on their backs in the shallow end. Oh and don't try to call Polaris customer service, I tried calling them and it was an 80 minute wait.

we had a dolphin m400 for a year before it broke, bad design of cable/circuit board which fried it ...our pool company also said they had many sent in for repair.

I have a Polaris Quattro, and after only two years and needing to replace all of the plastic gears for a second time, I will never own a polaris pool cleaner again.

I agree to that Polaris is not good quality

Same here, Polaris is only a waste of money. The first one broke just after 3 months, they replaced it and this season it just goes around in circles and no one has a clue as to why it is doing it STAY FAR AWAY FROM POLARIS PS: Their Customer Service is also the lousiest I have ever experienced

I have purchased both cleaners. I only used the Dolphin twice before I packed it up and returned it. The dolphin baskets were very small compared to the Polaris. The cloth basket was difficult and messy to clean and clear. It was impossible to easily reinsert. It is very poor design.

When the Polaris flips over and you get in the pool to make it upright just grab the cable and give it a tug. But Wait! Can you grab the cable and do that without jumping in the pool?

The Polaris P70 SUCKS! It broke after 3 hours and I got it replaced and this time it broke 5 minutes after taking it out of the box! I was told that another customer had the same latch issue and his broke too. Over $700...I definitely will not be getting another Polaris product! I just got a full refund.

Buy a Polaris at your own risk. The cord will tangle on every use, it's nav is not better and it will break with the dreaded error 10 message in 3 years or less. This is from an owner of 3 over the past 8 years.
