Klee is excellent
I have the series of paintings with ladies wearing sunglasses that have sayings in them about social media and money. One of them said Social mobility is fictitious. So I take it and hang it with the rest of them at a show. Beginning of the show My husband sees I misspelled fictitious. My husband was freaking out! Take it down he yells at me. So quick thinking I asked my friend next to my booth to use her paint marker and blacked out the misspelled word. And that turned out to be the painting that got the most feedback because they thought it was some redacted statement and had some big time deep meaning! Even when I fixed it I kept the blacked out part! Happy accidents!
I borrowed a friends deer costume. It was skin tight and I wasn't paying attention. I got to the party and everyone was laughing. I realized the TAIL was in front...SO..I was not a deer that night, I was a buck.
And you've lived to tell....the tail.,,tale. Lolol
I felt this one so hard. I grew up in a VERY critical household. It left me terrified to make mistakes so I lost a lot of oppurtunities. I've taught myself to try to take those risks now. I'm not perfect about it and I'm still learning to not be afraid to try.
I was brought up in a critical household too. I am the scapegoat and blacksheep. I absolutely love doing things that I am told I can't do.I also had a father that was extremely practical and never took risks. I saw how unhappy he was my entire childhood. I vowed I would never play it safe and take risks. I am so grateful that I didn't allow those hurtful moments of negativity break me . Keep going. Show the negative Nellies that they have no idea what they are talking about.
You can't get good without making mistakes. Mistakes are not your failures they are your teachers embrace them.

Back in 1974 I was planning my wedding... I was young and excited about the ceremony. I sent out invitations to all my friends and family. The pastor who was going to officiate our wedding read our invitation in church one Sunday and I was mortified to hear my fathers name pronounced Stalney instead of Stanley. I had written my dads name wrong when i ordered my invitations!!! The thing is the pastor was good friends with my dad and knew his name!!! I laugh now... but then it was so embarrassing!!!!
Oh man, my mistakes! I’m dyslexic as hell so drawing or painting words is always an adventure. My best happy accident lately was my clothing brand name...I was vectorizing the name and accidentally flipped the last C in the name....turned out to make it twice as awesome, so it worked out., normally it’s like, pardon me, I’mma bit tyslexic doday

Yes! Mistakes are the stuff life is made of! Recently a friend made me laugh so hard I spit my coffee all over the table in the breakroom at work, in front of a lot of people, then I laughed even harder! I could go on...

I have learned to think on my feet when I have made mistakes along the way. I too have misspelled words in paintings or murals only to have the client or customer point it out to me, I simply laugh it off and then be like, well thank God its just paint! LOL

Brilliant. I forgot that i was secretly watching at 4.30am whike the rest of the household slept. And i ROARED with laughter at '30 isnt ASS cold', closely followed by the pubic building. I forced myself to do my first ever workshop a week or two back and i was terrified. In the end i took a leaf out of your book and told myself this is art, its meant to be fun! So i decided ro have two hours of fun with my 'students' . And it worked. I loved it. And i did tell them to make a few mistakes, in fact i said 'please remember to make a few mistakes' mistakes make the work even more interesting, i think🙂
This was hilarious. After being out of school for many years and not writing, I started blogging. I did a tutorial on how to do a plastic bag reef for your door. Thankfully no one was reading because I didn't catch it for a couple of weeks. I thoroughly enjoy you guys' videos. 💞

Rafi Was Here Studios You’re welcome. I have been primarily bedbound for the last 20 years and this year have been fighting cancer - none of us know what’s around the corner so ‘do it while you can’ has been my motto for years, and is definitely amplified by the fight to survive this year. Sometimes we get complacent and stay in our safe place which only serves to keep the status quo and stunts our growth. I can only hope Klee takes the bull by the horns and goes for it - big time ;)
Man you hit it on the head with the school thing. I was soooo terrified to make mistakes in school. Doesn't help that once you get a job mistakes are just as frowned at if not more so. I've only recently gotten to the point with painting that I don't fear mistakes (mostly lol). I used to panic and hesitate at every brush stroke because I couldn't erase it like a drawing...then I realized "duh...just paint over it...". I still need some work on confidence but now I just find it hilarious that I thought painting was so permanent.

You've helped me to remember that everyone who I like and respect started from mistakes, and nobody cares! They're making mistakes even now, and it's okay, and I still like it! It isn't school, it's life, and there's no need to be perfect. I must remember that🙄

Hi R & K👫 I made a journal for a friend. She wanted something on hand to give. Previously I had only made for my granddaughter and myself😍I toiled away for days in my desire for "perfection". I wanted it to look like the ones I've seen on IG & YT.😅At last I had the signatures finished, ready to poke the holes for binding. There were 5. Did the holes & when I got to the 3rd one....I put the string through and suddenly I was 2" away from the fold🙃What the heck??? I hadn't noticed where I was placing the awl and did the first 2 holes far away from home plate! I redid the holes and left the signature in the journal. When I gave it to her I said enthusiastically " This is the first journal I've made with holes in the middle of the pages👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thanks for this video 👍🏻✅~Sharon
great vid! thanks for the laughs I needed them! I know I make so many mistakes I really have to just toss them out the brain or I couldn't function. there was one word you showed on screen and this is my story. I was working for an in state craft chain store. we had a friends and family night. an ad was placed in the paper. Don't know which one of us caught it but it said "Open to the Pubic" we were hysterical over it. the editor was mortified.

I was painting a portrait in coffee, and coffee is very liquidy compared to paint, and as I reloaded my brush a big drop fell on the picture. I was frustrated and wasn't sure if I should try to remove it or have to start over, but my mother came over to look at it and told me it looked like a button on the shirt so I left it in. Lol

Hi Ya'll. So glad I discovered your channel, you both are so positive and inspirational. Mistakes are opportunities to exercise our creativity and also remind us to not take ourselves so seriously. Also, when it comes to making decisions, most of the time, there is no right or wrong answer, just what works best for us for the moment, and as Klee said, you can also change your mind and go a different direction if it doesn't work out or no longer fits. On another note, I've been binging on your past videos and your message of taking courage and putting yourself out there is just what I've needed to hear. I retired from teaching in a public school system in 2012 and since that time have had a few false starts with my creative endeavors but am currently clinging to the safety of a steady supplementary income by teaching at an alternative school to pay off some debts I ran up while caring for my ailing parents. I'm about to jump off in the deep end and try following my creative dreams full-time and am terrified I'm opening myself up to financial ruin (but I have a back-up plan;). I love photography, writing and am improving as a painter. I'm going in the direction of pet photography and painting pet portraits from photos along with improving how often, and the content I post on my websites JLouPhotography.com, GulfCoastInspired.com, and BellaPetPhotography.com. Rafi, best wishes on your book, it will be totally awesome! Klee, your pieces are exquisite and you will totally crush the gallery thing. You are a precious soul and the two of you make a great team. Congrats Klee! 5:00, that is so me, going thru every scenario. In many ways working out "worse case scenario" and the solutions lessens worry because you know you got this. Murphy's Law dictates tho, as you spoke of, you can't predict everything because you only know what you know so chances are something outside of your realm of knowledge and experience will happen. Good news is it's often something good not bad. Thanks for another great talk and laugh.

I didn't want this video to end! Great compilation of mistakes there & Great video you guys! When I was a waitress years ago I put peas in the deep fat fryer instead of the microwave and the oil came out over spilling everywhere in the kitchen, the chef was not happy and then after that I rearranged his kitchen and he hit the roof! Never mess with a Chefs kitchen! Mistakes made, lesson learned! Ha! I'd still mess with his kitchen all over again though! 😂

A television once commissioned a colorful knitted scarf for a television show without specifying the length. The knitter took using all the yarn as a challenge and knitted a ridiculously long scarf. Today, the Fourth Doctor is iconic for his scarf.

I once caught a typo in a painted word in a photo that was a preview of an artist’s commissioned piece in progress on Instagram. I sent him a DM to left him know, and I was surprised to see that he publicly thanked me for letting him know about the misspelling so he could fix it before turning over the piece to the client. But when it comes to my own writing, I prefer to have a second set of eyes! It’s hard to see your mistakes...

And bonus: I watched again with my son who tends to be hard on himself--more of a perfectionist. I think that hearing your message from someone other than me really made an impact. You know, I'm actually a huge advocate of using low quality art supplies to practice with because I feel like it lets me make mistakes without fear of wasting my pricey art supplies. I don't think people get it though because there is such a push to use your best supplies. I feel like I can make errors and not stress about it. I have more fun doing art by letting myself fail.

I make mistakes. Just watch any of my videos. I do not like making mistakes and try to only have the mistake happen once then learn from it and move on. I am not afraid of the mistakes, but as you said, they can be embarrassing. Thank you for your videos. I enjoy them overall.

I actually am not a big believer in making HUGE edits of misspoken words I correct while filming or even when I have a brainfart & pause for a second as is evident in the video I posted last night, obviously if it's something huge I will but I'm human & I'm going to make mistakes! It's not something I'm ashamed of because you learn from your mistakes, they are building blocks to your success, at least that's how I feel but I'll admit it took me A LONG TIME to be comfortable with that & to not worry what others think. I'm not a people pleaser but it can be intimidating when you put yourself out there for the world, especially since the world isnt always a friendly place but I just pulled my big girl pants up & hit the road! You guys are truly awesome & I plan on buying one of your pieces Klee here in the near future. Thank you again for all you do & have a great day!

Mistakes are a part of the artist's journey, perfection in this world is impossible.. I don't think many people care if one screws up or not especially if that one makes fun of themselves for it! Yes, school does punish for mistakes although in my Painting and Mixed Media class, we are doing an ink painting/modified contour so if mistakes are made, they can't be undone.. When I play guitar and write fanfics, I make so many mistakes haha! The stuff like that I do isn't easy but it's fun and makes me feel good!

Our local high school on their 'no fun allowed' sign lists among other things, "NO CIGERTTS". The also had the "DRUGS FREE ZONE" sign posted for several months. The cigertts sign has been up for at least 4 years and going strong!

I love to laugh at myself! When I make mistakes I point them out to people. I don’t care once they are done. But I do try to remember to not repeat them.

I painted 2 right hands on a figure once. A friend pointed it out and I changed it. It was a great left/right hand.

With life iv found its the mistakes that make us stronge adm who we have been come so maybe with our art and creations we need to embrace those imperfections coz thats what it means to be real and alive! So I definitely follow your philosophy with showing our mistakes, being proud and wearing them like a suit of armor Rafi! Yeh, when I have to do something with lettering or names.. even on something as simple as addressing an envelope on occasion I have to have the actual spelling right in front of me. For quite awhile I hand painted 8ft banners for weddings and omg... the rigamarole I'd go through to not mess up the artful backgrounds. LOL.
Anyway, only a LOSER would NOT like Klee. And they don't matter in the world scheme if life.

Oh I've got one. I wish I still had a picture of it somewhere, but I made this old comic as part of a 30 day challenge thing and the prompt was to make a 1 page comic about a recent event in your life. So I decided to make it about how my flight got canceled the night I was flying back to school after Christmas break, but I didn't realize that I had spelled canceled wrong until after I had uploaded it and my Mom pointed it out weeks later. I spelled canceled as cancled XD
I left it alone for the longest time until I decided to clean up my DA account.
