Ended up doing this myself, had to treat a fungal infection my bullfrog had from the Asian market I got her from. Now she’s doing awesome though! Eating like a beast.
Thanks. I tried to get a male from another market but they told me it was store policy to kill it, so I couldn’t take it. Had to settle for the second one, where the frogs weren’t nearly as healthy looking. It worked out though!
@@janaepatterson8486 If I had gotten the frog now, I probably would’ve taken it to an exotic vet first and foremost. But back then, I didn’t really think to do that, mostly because amphibians are notoriously hard to treat due to their sensitivity to certain medications. I thought I could treat it myself, and fortunately I was able to. I was just very consistent in treating her, and kept her environment clean and stress free. I really took a gamble and just hoped for the best. Most animals from Asian markets do not survive long term. I learned that the hard way. Mostly because lots of animals, especially frogs and turtles, from Asian markets can carry lots of nasty viruses. So I wouldn’t advise you try this if you have other amphibians or lack experience with keeping herps if you’re planning to.
I only now just heard of grocery stores selling frogs to eat. That is so odd and freaky! Surely, that would be against the law? The look of those frogs scare me though. If I saw them in a grocery store, I would run right out!
@@Oliverthewatermelon Mine was much smaller when I got him, but he’s also not a wild bullfrog. He’s a farm bred one meant for meat which might be why he looks a bit large and different compared to the ones you’d find outside.
Thanks for watching! I’m pretty sure he is a male. He croaks a lot actually, but I didn’t know that you could see the vocal sac on frogs and use that to sex them.

@@jc75430 Oh, at least you cured the frog and gave him a good life. I was lucky the store I went to lets you take the animals home alive.
did you go to a vet or buy a medicine that helped ?

Your frog may be a female; no sign of a vocal sac and probably mute
