Looks like a wonderful trip, glad you enjoyed yourself and as a viewer I’m particularly glad for the inspiration you received I can’t wait to see what comes of it
Northern Italy is simply AMAZING! If you go back some time I recommend stopping at lake Como on that train you took down to Milan. There's the island of Bellagio and some others and it almost seems fake it's so beautiful! My wife and I have been to Italy 3 times and loved every second of it! It's a great country!
Oh. My. Goodness. You can drag me along for a museum crawl any time man. That was some of the coolest stuff I've ever seen. I hope you get time to build some of the inspirations you got.
Awesome. Knowing the world and discover new things of blacksmithing. Swords and axes are incredible. Katar dagger is cool. Congrats Will. Keep it up!🔥😎
If you pass by Europe and specially Switzerland again, there is a great museum in Solothurn with hundreds of armour, and many blades and old rifles too! Worth seeing definitely! Happy to drive you around if needed, and I could even show you the metal workshop at work where they make pieces for satellites ;) It's mostly metal working and no forging unfortunately! :/ But still pretty cool ;)
Because the economy changed. In that era the most financially viable option a smith had would be to make fewer highly HIGHLY detailed for individual aristocratic rich folks. In the modern world, with the advent of shipping, power tools, and more disposable income by non-aristocrats it has shifted toward making more items and shipping them farther.
What an epic trip! Tons of beautiful weapons and armors but out of all of them the two knives at the 10:56 mark really stood out to me. I have never seen anything like them before! Thank you for taking us along.
I grew up in Zurich and in Tuscany near Florence, and now I’m near Denver. It was cool to see you in all those familiar places, and I’m happy that you had a great time! Rock on!
Will I started to watch you when you went over to England! I am loving to see you back to the traveling videos! Can not wait to see what you come up with in the Forge/your shop!
Congratulations on being able to travel and learn. You work hard and you deserve it. Wonderful narration. Looking forward to more inspiration from you thank you.
Will, if you’re interested in “cut-shoots” then you need to get in touch with Bruce Bump over in Walla Walla. His Brutus battle axe / muzzleloader is one of the coolest pieces I’ve ever seen.
What an experience it must have been. You're a very lucky dude, to have access to such amazing pieces of history. I have to admit... I might be a bit jealous. 😒
Will... love the vid. you mentioned the merging of bladed weapons with fire arms... years ago I ran across a fella on Knifedogs named Bruce Bump. He did that kind of thing quite a bit. IDK if he's still kickin around, but you might wanna check it out. Good stuff man. Keep on keepin on.
I know it's not your usual, but seeing those spurs in the museum footage it would be interesting to see you give those a try, I guess in your area you'd be able to find a buyer also
A gun and a blade... but what about a gun that shoots a blade? That looks like a fun trip. Those blades are amazing- some of them were obviously Damascus, but may or may not have been deliberate(?). Maybe just wrought steel. Hmm..
Saw you passed through Lugano in Switzerland, very beautiful area. In Florence, it looks like you had the bistecca fiorentina, one of the best steaks in the world.
The sledgehammer is German style, the recess at the top is to have a better view of the workpiece, that was the explanation of my blacksmithing teacher. My 2.75 pound hammer is the same style.
Hello Will!! Looks like someone has Lots of Fun!!! Here in Northern California we harvest our olives much differently. 😅 Happy Holidays Bucko.. hope Santa's good to you. 🎄🎁☃️
In America we get excited when we find things that are from the 1700's. In Europe they find things that are BC. That age difference always astonishes me.
Me and my wife went Florence and tuscany, we stayed in the old city next to the duomo and in San Gimignano.. Was amazing! But the best weapons musium I've spent time in (a while morning) was in Paris it had all kinds of swords and weaponry all the way up to ww2.. Amazing, except my wife wanted kill me.. Lol
Tool style differences between European regions can some times come from a region intentionally making their tools look different so that tools made there are traceable back to that region and so that foreign tradesmen would not as easily be able to go from one region to another to work without the local guilds and governments being able to notice them easily by just asking anyone about the rough shape of the tool they saw.
Hey Wills. If you tie an Italian's hands down, they could not really speak. Florence for art, Milan for fashion, Rome for History. Making a woven metal handle, hilt or scabbard would be challenging.
Every time i see those old weapons i think about how was this possible, hundreds of years ago. No out of the box steel, no powerhammer, no grinder, no engraver, no "hightech" files. Nothing but just bare hands and some (possible) home made tools.
I don't know if the guy was pulling my leg, but he was talking about the Ucitan dagger, according to his drunken story it's thousands of years old. I tried digging him for more information but one of his friends showed up and dragged him out. He said he was a Yankee.
I have to ask now, but where was that hot air balloon ride and where do we have to look to find it? me and my wife are visiting Italy for our honeymoon in the spring and we would love to do a hot air balloon ride.
What on Earth is that thing at 10:11? It looks like a can opener with a knife handle and a Flintlock on it 🤔 I tried Googling the word on the card next to it but didn't come up with anything that wasn't in Italian.
Will it was a blast!! So great having you, can’t wait to see you at Blade 😉
Looks like a wonderful trip, glad you enjoyed yourself and as a viewer I’m particularly glad for the inspiration you received I can’t wait to see what comes of it

Split end sword at 4:18 ish. Mind blown! Didn’t know what to look at first. Thanks for sharing!

That pistol crossbow was awesome.
Awesome.
Knowing the world and discover new things of blacksmithing.
Swords and axes are incredible.
Katar dagger is cool.
Congrats Will. Keep it up!🔥😎
👍😎👍Will, don't me afraid of making your videos a bit longer. Thanks!

Why doesn’t this level of craftsmanship exist anymore? Great video!
im sure it would if the market as there
Because we don't battle with swords anymore

Uhm... the lack of moneyed warlords and princes and other "landed" folks.
What an epic trip! Tons of beautiful weapons and armors but out of all of them the two knives at the 10:56 mark really stood out to me. I have never seen anything like them before! Thank you for taking us along.
One of the greatest trip video I've seen.... Yep of a lifetime.....
Will thank you for providing all the concent and amazing art that you create. May God continue to bless you and your family
Totally inspired me to get to a museum and see cool stuff too.
Love the enthusiasm
What an amazing trip! Thanks for bringing us along! Those museums were very impressive!
Can't wait for the next parts!!!
Great journey Will! Thanks for the documentation of it. 👍😁
A trip of a lifetime. Glad you got to make it!
Things I didn't know I needed until I watched this: A Will Stelter Travel Vlog. Need more of these.
I've never seen anything as amazing as that artifact display. HOLY SHIT! Thank you so fucking much for this.
Glad you’re back at it and it sounds like an awesome trip
That museum was amazing, thanks for the tour. 👍
Congratulations on being able to travel and learn. You work hard and you deserve it. Wonderful narration. Looking forward to more inspiration from you thank you.
Great content thanks for sharing
Found this from your India video. Thanks for sharing Will.
I like that you didn’t crank out a project and just enjoyed your time!
Beautiful blades
Will, if you’re interested in “cut-shoots” then you need to get in touch with Bruce Bump over in Walla Walla. His Brutus battle axe / muzzleloader is one of the coolest pieces I’ve ever seen.
Oh thanks for this! Very cool video!
Museo di Stibbert! My wife and I went there on our honeymoon in Italy. Such a cool place, but not enough time to spend checking it all out.
1:34 amazing Mountain, called Mythen. Next time @Will Stelter I will bring you up there, my hometown.
What an experience it must have been. You're a very lucky dude, to have access to such amazing pieces of history. I have to admit... I might be a bit jealous. 😒
I live in tuscany too! Will have to visit this guy!
Love the showing of European blade work.
Glad you enjoyed your travels to Italy. 👍🇵🇱🇬🇧🏴👍
Amazingto see the pictures, but as a master knife smith, you saw things we missed. Thanks for your insights.
The watch thingy is a mainspring winder !
Will... love the vid. you mentioned the merging of bladed weapons with fire arms... years ago I ran across a fella on Knifedogs named Bruce Bump. He did that kind of thing quite a bit. IDK if he's still kickin around, but you might wanna check it out. Good stuff man. Keep on keepin on.
I think the next build should be a Damascus musket pistol 🙏
I know it's not your usual, but seeing those spurs in the museum footage it would be interesting to see you give those a try, I guess in your area you'd be able to find a buyer also
Love the title!!!!
You should get some of his olive wood for knife scales.
Came here from the india vlog. The guns and blades are stunning!
A gun and a blade... but what about a gun that shoots a blade? That looks like a fun trip. Those blades are amazing- some of them were obviously Damascus, but may or may not have been deliberate(?). Maybe just wrought steel. Hmm..
I must go to Italy now!
i am italian...i was follower since you and Alec were together, welcome in italy ^^
I love the title.
Saw you passed through Lugano in Switzerland, very beautiful area. In Florence, it looks like you had the bistecca fiorentina, one of the best steaks in the world.
My college kid is leaving for Italy in a couple weeks. Needs an over seas trip for graduation.
You could do a drinking game. Every time Will says “amazing” you have to drink! Cool video! What a great adventure.
Only if you’re close enough to a hospital to have your stomach pumped! 😂
I’m not sure I could drink that much tea!
Think beautiful would work too, lol
The sledgehammer is German style, the recess at the top is to have a better view of the workpiece, that was the explanation of my blacksmithing teacher. My 2.75 pound hammer is the same style.
Twisty mabob might be for chucking up and polishing small screw heads?
Hey will! Question for ya. Do you have any advice for a beginning bladesmith who doesn’t have the time or money to invest in a good class?
Hello Will!! Looks like someone has Lots of Fun!!! Here in Northern California we harvest our olives much differently. 😅
Happy Holidays Bucko.. hope Santa's good to you. 🎄🎁☃️
That was a great video
I’m curious, how did you get through customs with a hammer head?!!
I'd really like to see Will try one of those multi fuller daggers from @9:15.
3:57 doesn’t that look almost identical to the 15th century Kris dagger Alec Steele restored?

All the Italian weapons make me remember Assassin's Creed 2.
One background song sounded like Sims building menu musik
What a beautiful trip! If I could go up over Tuscany in a hot air balloon I could die a happy woman!
He has returned

4:25 Alec is making one of those rn
"Terrible Dictators aside, the rivet work was amazing" There is your next shirt...lol
Was that Alec Steele's katar in the case?

4:25 @alec steele lol
You should make a nice big sword next time
The cross bow pistol is something I had never seen before. Do you have more pictures of it.
Anyone else go, "awwww 🥺" when they saw the animals? Or was it just me? lol
Li’l Sebastian 😭😭😭 Too soon, dude!
You should make armor
link Oliver in description or comments if you really want anyone to go there. I'm not pausing the video and typing it into google.

Wait wait wait... your friend OLIVEr has an OLIVE farm????
9:22 was that a carving of the Virgin and The Child on the blade? I want it.
Be careful going to museums, you might get ideas overload lol.
Wow, I was in Florence at the exact same time.....NJ. It was NOT beautiful :(
I don't know if the guy was pulling my leg, but he was talking about the Ucitan dagger, according to his drunken story it's thousands of years old. I tried digging him for more information but one of his friends showed up and dragged him out. He said he was a Yankee.
So you're going to do an old gun?
Who was the guy that owned the collection when he was alive?
have you ever thought about forging your own musket
Assassins creed
When he first held up that cross peen head I thought it was a mid size jewelers anvil.
I have to ask now, but where was that hot air balloon ride and where do we have to look to find it? me and my wife are visiting Italy for our honeymoon in the spring and we would love to do a hot air balloon ride.
Hey man- it was with Tuscany ballooning- Oliver’s family business, I highly recommend it!
@@WillStelterbladesmith Thank you, I am looking into this for sure, my wife loves the idea

Wait you where in swizerland and you did not visit my shop 😉
"Babe I'm in India, not Indiana, I misread the itinerary."
In the US there is nothing stopping you from making guns....
