I love how they kept the interior original and the gate. The mod was pretty good as Automatic Elevator did a great job and they still allowed the elevator to have a lovely vintage feel to it as well as updating the control equipment. Even though the buttons have been replaced on the inside, they do fit in with the look of the elevator and they are quite a nice model of Innovation and they kept the outer call buttons original

I think this is an awesome set of elevators. The character is still there, however the controls are updated to not only provide an easier time for replacement, but also to keep the elevator as safe as ever. I love that rooftop balcony, which is something that you never see anymore due to liability purposes.
But if there is one thing that I learned from this video, I will always trespass with permission :P
I've actually went to hotels over the weekend to ride the elevators (with permission from the security guards) 3x this weekend but the doubletree elevators required a key. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Nice job as always. Did Mike say why the west elevator's machinery needed to be totally replaced? That old cast iron stuff is built like a brick you-know-what. I was wondering if the building had suffered storm damage or a fire. If so, the restoration of the building itself looks amazing!!!

Definately Premier as Pinnacle are white illuminating buttons with the metal halo.

@6:11 what direction were you looking when you snapped that shot? That looks like the University medical center complex.
Do you know if all modern traction elevators in the United States are required to have a rope gripper, or similar device?
Also, if an elevator with a glass machine room roof (many very old elevators have that) is modernized, does the glass have to be replaced with a solid roof? If so, do you know when elevator codes started to require that? And do they require a glass machine room be replaced if it is a bottom drive elevator with a machine room (usually called a wheel house) on the roof that only has some sheaves and the governor, and it is being modernized? Or only if the replace the governor?
That old machine is prestine condition, nice. The new one seems a bit big considering the size of the passenger elevator. It's huge compared to an MRL.
Speaking of MRL, there's a 99% chance the elevator I'm riding tonight at my pop's frirnd's house in Jersey is MRL. That means there is a high chance I'll ride my first MRL in 10 years. And speaking of first, I just road my first destination dispatch elevators yesterday. They were mad insane cool and fast. You should ride a Destination Dispatch elevator! they're so much fun!

What make and model is that geared machine? It looks like a very early version of a Hollister & Whitney.

On the west Elevator, while riding the elevator, you can barely hear the motor.
That "stuffer box" on the swing door was brought about by kids playing "hide n go seek" in the Tenderlion area of San Francisco.....a kid was hiding behind the swing door with the gate door on the cab closed.....another kid spotted him.....ran over and slammed the door closed....car had a call waiting and the elevator took off with the kid trapped between the car and closed/locked hoist way door....the kid was DOA.....sadly.....now it's required to add "stuffing boxes" on those old swing doors.

It was @ the fmr. Habitat for Humanity store in Roanoke, VA. Sadly, when the store closed & got converted into lofts, the elevators got ripped out.

Why do they have to mod it? But I think it's a fabulous mod. I really like how they used those type of Innovation fixtures.

Why are windows not allowed? I do not see how a window in the machine room can be dangerous.
If it is left open or broken due to heat or explosion it turns the elevator shaft into a chimney. For the same reason all machine room doors are supposed to be self closing.
