Building the Beating Heart of my Workshop, Part 1: The Chassis & Unboxing My New Table Saw. Day 1516

  • Ok, so. Here's the first of a rather ambitious four part series in which I completely transform the centre of my workshop. The idea is to have a single rolling cart that houses both a proper table saw and a router table, extraction for both, and all the related power and accessories in such a way that there's only a single power lead coming out of the unit.
This first part, aptly named "Part 1", involves the basic chassis of the main unit as well as getting the table saw out of the crate and assembled. I'll be doing more in-depth setup and cleaning videos in shorts and IG Reels so keep an eye out for those as well.
The design of this basic chassis came mostly from watching one particular video here on the TH-cams: • How to Make a Mobile M...
Essentially, I started with Kuffy's design and beefed it up a fair bit. The frame is all 140x45 MGP12 structural pine, the decking is all 17mm Formply inset into dadoes all the way around, the casters are individually rated to 250KGs, even the screws used to hold the frame together are 125mm long and heavy duty.
Random side note, I found almost exactly the same Sherwood Browny-Orange in Dulux's "Very Terracotta". That made me laugh.

Again, much love for the idea of using clamp to lift the box. Totally agree a Dead Blow Mallet is the best tool most people don’t own. Got one a few months ago and it’s awesome. BUT also - how about that orange flannel shirt!!

Nicely done mate. I was hoping you had the balls to get in it and send it down a hill like a billy cart. I was too scared because I'm allergic to road rash 😂
