This is a very urgent question, because the younger states have started to catch up (I'm at 676, last season was 12, and this week 16 started right away), so there is absolutely no time to collect super hire scrolls for the heroes you need!!! 2. How exactly does the game mechanics work: each combat skill has a percentage of damage that the skill will deal or heal... what exactly are these percentages calculated from? And is the amount of damage/healing related to the 1st and 5th skills of the heroes (the maximum number of troops that the hero's squad can now accommodate). For the question number one it's actually depending the heroes. Some skills are more interesting than others. But usually we try to let the 7 for last because it's the less interesting. So boosting the 5 is usually good because less copy than the 8.
Question 2, it's very difficult to say how they calculate this. It's kinda very weird. The best is to base yourself depending the other heroes. Compare them with good damage dealers or good healers.
And no the skills of the heroes are not related about the number of troops you are it's only based on heroes.

We just jump start sx16, which one better focus on eselfred or sundiata or keep scroll for Harold/Roland ? And how about new jade? Strong/weak? And use which Archer combo for new jade? Thx
Esel and sundiata are very important heroes also..its just that is hard to recruit them..but if you want to save up tickets and wait for sx 18 and 19 its a good idea also..
Get Esel and Sun , they are core
Sandiata is a must have with Harold.
Others you mentioned are very good also. Jade is not good enough to be in the meta for older states
Have you try jade after the upgrade on his skills?we try various combos and brave warden jade do great against sundi or el cid combos,we are on sx17 so I can't try your hero combination
