Glory of Dusk - Raga Puriya Kalyan

- Raga Puriya Kalyan is a melody that is traditionally played at the dusk (known as "sandhi-prakash"). It is a combination of two Ragas - Puriya and Yaman. Its mood is somber, meditative, contemplative, devotional and like many Ragas played at dusk, it makes one contemplate about life.

Actually it was a real gas back then, if you like steam locomotives as I do, a bit frustrating sometimes, yes, but worth it.
Well, you know, I often had the same thoughts while i was there. Yes, its dirty, filthy in places, dusty, stinking , rotten, infested, and I saw some things there I wished i hadn't, but time has a way of mellowing all that, and most of what i remember know is not the shit hole stuff, but the people and places I still know. Its not the sensual things that matter in the end, but what a place burns into your heart. Consider yourself lucky you don't have to live in the 3rd world, because a lot of people I know that do are one hell of a lot better in their own heart and soul than some that don't.
Puriya Kalyan is a sandhi prakash raaga--Raga of gaudhuli vela- means when cows return to their shed at the sun set...this recital is sooo beautiful takes you to the visualization of scenic beauty of sandhya

the constand sound on the backround is Tanpura. its always present in all the indian classical music. it gives a base and support of the Sur to the permorming artist.
I love Indian music when it is minus the bongo drums and fast tempo. Such as this composition and performance. It is wonderfully consciousness-altering. Thank you.
relaxing in a small punt-reclining with my arms resting over the sides-floating down a river-somewhere hot and dry-but with a small breeze on my face-all i can hear are the bristle of the tall reed grasses on either side of the riverbank-and in the far distance i can hear the faint noises of children playing-and the call of birds-total bliss
Herman Hesse describes the true path a western mind must take in order to fulfill both sides of his soul, east and west, rational and irrational, love and the loss of it. We are all searching for ourselves, once we find it, there is only joy :), heaven can wait for it truly is here.

Wondrously beautiful music. The pictures (all of them taken at dusk) really enhance one´s appreciation of this raga. The time-theory of Indian classical music is born of a profound awareness of the effects (subtle or overt) which the various times of the day and night have on the human psyche. And you truly bring that out with this video. Thank you so much for uploading this.

In morning you should listen to bilawal and bhairav ragas they charge you with energy for new day.
This is evening raga to calm down before sleep.
So soothing !! Rigorous day ends and finally you find out divine peace.! Bansuri has no alternative - it really finds its way into the heart through ears. God's gift to mankind !!
