  • Can lipedema go away with exercise? What are the best exercises for lipedema? Rebekah discusses the role of exercise in her 140 pound lipedema weight loss and the benefits of exercise for moving lymphatic fluid and controlling excess fluid. Fat loves a fluid-rich environment, so keep that fluid out of your lipedema legs as much as possible! She reveals her favorite workout for lipedema - walking! Then she discusses swimming (including lipedema bathing suits), indoor cycling, vibration plates, and rebounding for lipedema. She also shares a resource she got at the Fat Disorders Resource Society conference in April.

Im 63 and just found your videos 2 weeks ago. I used to be very active, mostly unsuccessfully trying to get toned legs until the pain got too bad, fat shamed by doctors when i sought help, followed by years of depression, weight gain and agonizing pain.
But since learning of this disease, after the crying of course, i started carnivore, i do my cubii, my elevation pillow arrived today, my vibration plate, mini trampoline and compression leggings arrive tomorrow. Im still in a lot of pain but in just 2 weeks ive lost 9 lbs of inflammation. I feel a lot less like a stay-puff marshmellow and am seeing a tiny glimps of the real me when i was fun and excited about life. Thank you and all your followers for giving me hope. It truly helps knowing what you're fighting besides just weight!

@kissybiz. Good for you!!! I just found out that this is what I suffer from, on top of my already very fat body. I don’t go to doctors because I am so ashamed of my legs! They don’t look human😥. I am so encouraged by this woman and her followers. I am now encouraged to do what I can including using my $350 rebounder that I haven’t been using because I’m not allowed to use in my 3rd floor apt, so I have to haul it to the fitness center…. Guess I will do that. I’m starting ketogenic diet, may go carnivore eventually. Keep up the good work!!

I have been working out on a rebounder for about a month. Really helps with mood you can't feel when you are bouncing. It doesn't cause pain, have seen a little improvement in size of my legs but I didn't measure. I think you could use one above another resident. The only noise mine makes is a little squeak from the coils. I got mine for $10.00 at a yard sale so I don't have the brand information. Thanks for all the information. 😊

Hi Rebekah, first time viewer here! I've had lymphedema for years, and am now 69 years old. 3 years ago I purchased a Leaps and Rebounds rebounder. Love it! One thing I'd like to share, In purchasing a rebounder, you get what you pay for. I see people saying they picked one up at a yard sale...I'm glad it works for them but the cheap ones are incredibly jarring on knees and back. I've noticed that for me, I can get in a fantastic 12 minute workout and get way better results physically than walking 45 minutes. Your abs respond much better in getting a trimmer waistline, lifted rear etc. I use the Dave Hall Cellerciser 10 minute workout on busy days and it covers all muscles in the body. My dream is to own a Cellerciser, do not know it's weight limit. The bungee type, which the Leaps and Rebounds is, have a softer bounce whereas the Steel springs give a firmer bounce. I highly recommend anyone just starting out to start with the bungee type. No expensive shoes required!!!! Bare feet or the sticky bottom yoga type socks (I use the surgery socks from the hospital and beg them off friends). San Fran Fitness has some great beginner friendly rebounding workouts as it does challenge your balance if you are having issues that way. It took me 2 years to convince my daughter to buy a rebounder and now she's kicking herself that she waited so long. lol PS I didn't know that the batwing arms in one of your other videos is an effect of lipedema. Wondering if I have that also? The arms are so embarassing.

@connieyoung9740 saunas are not typically recommended because the high heat can actually increase swelling by dilating your blood vessels. I have been using a rebounder since the early 2000s I absolutely loved it you definitely need to get a decent quality one more than just like the $20 one you can pick up at Walmart but you can find a reasonable one without having to spend a crazy amount of money but they are so much fun and they are quiet and even like you talked about being in an upstairs apartment I have used them in upstairs apartments and because they are light and that noisy and they get all of the you know bounce it's not like you're jumping on the floor so you can actually use them upstairs without disturbing people and I just go on TH-cam and find free TH-cam workouts you can find all different people you can find them for all different amounts of times 5 minutes all the way up to 2 hours if you want to I really like San Fran their stuff is always really good and there's other ones too and it's free and you get to mix it up so you don't get bored but I love rebounding

I use my vibration plate for 15 minutes in the morning then a few minutes on the rebounder then I sit in the recliner with pillows under my calf’s for about 15 minutes until I need to go to work. Thank you Rebekah, great video! I have a 15ft swim-spa that provides plenty of room to swim while tethered to a flexible harness. However, I find the best resistance exercise is from wearing an aqua jogging belt (still using the harness) that gives me the freedom of jogging in water without joint pain. I live in subtropical Queensland, Australia so I'm able to aqua workout all year round. I have just started to complete my workout by allowing the spa jets to massage my legs: (this was less than relaxing at first, but becoming more comfortable with each new day) I'm wondering if the spa jets have any therapeutic benefit.

Hi whatever! I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist so I can only speak from my own experience. I have another video about fasting th-cam.com/video/5FJynEQd8Xg/w-d-xo.html. I like to do alternate day fasting (but not all the time). I have found it gives me a lot of energy and also reduces my swelling. I'm not sure if they know whether or not authophagy (or anything else) truly reduces lipedema fat, but it certainly helps relieve my symptoms and can help prevent/reduce loose skin. Here is a great book to read about salt amzn.to/3X3HcCj. I recommend diving into the research and working with your doctor to decide what's best for you. A massage gun can be used on a gentle setting to increase circulation and encourage lymph drainage. On higher settings it can be used to gradually break down fibrosis. ❤❤

Hi Kait! Talk to your doctor about your specific case, but I went for a walk the same day. My surgeon encouraged me to be as active as I was comfortable being. Do expect to bruise and feel sore, though, that's part of the healing process. I just happened to decide to go keto the same week I had my surgery. I like to think that helped speed my healing, but it's hard to say. Hopefully your doctor has helped you find good compression and he or she should give you instructions about wearing it after your procedure. If you do anything like dry brushing or pumping, be sure to ask them whether you should continue that or take a break - sometimes you need to wait. I hope it goes well!! Keep us posted ♥

Losing weight is 90% diet and 10 percent sports. BUT sports does help in building muscle, which increases your BMR, and it helps helped in getting fitter. Keto works because you scrap the processed foods, but complex carbs are totally fine. And I say that as a now whole foods plantbased vegan with lipedema that eats around 800-1000 grams of complex carbs a day who currently crossfits like crazy (the reason my maintenance is currently around 5000 kcal per day).
But you're right, cycling is fantastic. I lost weight from 95kg to 56kg with speed cycling :) I still cycle a lot because I don't have a car so I do everything with my hybrid bike.
