I have no idea if you are even going to get this comment! But I am literally crying as I'm typing this! My 2nd grade son has struggled with every symptom of dyslexia. With the school system failing my child and giving up on him I decided to homeschool my child. And with the struggles I've had I decided to research his symptoms and turns out he IS dyslexic. I decided to humor you (not fully believing it'll work) I wrote black writing on our at home whiteboard and of course he sat there frustrated struggling until finally giving up, I rewrote the SAME words using bold colors separating each part of the word with different colors and he read each word so fast with very little to no issues. The "accomplished" look on his face was amazing and it's all thanks to you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! It may be nothing to you but this new way of learning will forever change my sons life.

Amanda, you have made my day. I'm so excited for you. What your son is dealing with sounds like straight forward dyslexia. But also check the videos to ensure it's actually not Scotopic sensitivity/Irlen Syndrome/visual stress. Those 3 are all the same thing but it goes under different names depending on where you live. I've got an entire course of training for you and it's completely free and it's right there so that you can have a son with a completely changed life. Go and check it out at www.dyslexiaimprovements.com. Do you mind if I use what you wrote as encouragement on my website for other people in the same spot? Also, would you mind if I pop it on Facebook to encourage those parents. Parents like you need so much encouragement. Also, this Sunday I am running 2 webinars… One on self-esteem and one on self-confidence. If you would like me to send you a link, we would love to have you and I'm sure you would have a lot to contribute. I'm not sure that you will get this message or not, but if you do, it would be great if you send me a message to Michael@bigimprovements.com.au. Very happy for you

I felt the exact same way as I watched this video. My daughter is also in 2nd grade and has struggled with reading since kindergarten. I finally decided to do a little research on dyslexia and she checks all the boxes. So glad I found this channel and will definitely be trying out all these wonderful tips!

Thanks for the video content! Excuse me for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Millawdon Future Ticket Trick (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good one of a kind guide for teaching children to read minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my BF at very last got amazing success with it.

Your comment helped a bunch my son has been struggling with reading and the school's not getting on it fast enough he is going into the third grade next year and I'm really worried he is a bookworm but it upsets him that he cannot read those up to him he'd read everything in his way but it's so hard for him to read so I hope this works too for him.

This was everything I needed. I have been homeschooling my child for 2 years and am just now realizing that his struggle with reading is dyslexia. I will put all of these tips to good use. Thank you!

Yes to that. Everytime my grandson reads, regardless of the subject, he'll ask to draw a picture on the side of the workbook that depicts what he just read.

I can’t tell you how incredibly helpful this is. I’ve been tutoring a 7 year old for a while now. I’ve always suspected he has dyslexia however I know it can be hard to tell before the age of 7 as it could just be a slower development. However, after all these months and hours of tutoring he is still struggling with his literacy. He still can’t blend, sound out, reading out loud a 12 page book takes almost an hour, his writing can be hard to read, he often forgets sight words that he technically should already know and so on. I will be incorporating all of these helpful tips into our lesson and see how he responds. Thank you thank you thank you!

I am also tutoring two sisters of whom the younger one struggles with pronunciation of different letters like s or r or z etc. But her writing is really good and I am really confused about what should I do....I really wanna help her but I don't know if she has any type of language disorder or not

@@ishratbano5862 If she is having trouble pronouncing Id suggest focusing on that. You can try standing in front of a mirror and show her where her tongue/teeth should be for certain letters. My 7 year old often confuses short i and short e. Ive showed him to put his hand on his throat for short i and feel the vibrations and for short e put his hands on the sides of his cheeks and feel how his mouth opens for the sounds. It has worked very well.

Ive watched several videos on how to teach dyslexic children, your's is the first one that actually is helpful. I just spent 34 years stuggling with what is now obvioulsy dyslexia, my 7 year old daughter is struggling the exact same way I did. I've been stressing to my child's teacher that the way she is struggling and feeling is the same as what I went through and the teacher is just no interested in hearing me. Now that I know what the problem is, she will have to listen. I found a list of 37 simptoms of dyslexia and I have 30.

Michael, thank u so much. As an American teaching English, Geography, math and science to 2nd graders in Cambodia I love my job. However most kids/schools here don't have the money, like we do in The States to have specialists to help kids with dyslexia or whatever learning issues they may have. Several of my students need glasses, I assume this because they read with the book inches from their face. Anyway, I have a wonderfully smart and artistic girl, Sophia, she's repeating 2nd grade over again because of her inability to read and is getting NO special help, so it's basically useless. She can't read her finals so how can she pass an exam! But I think I figured out that one....more later. She cannot read to save her life and it drives me nuts because there's no support of any kind. My number one goal I tell the kids and the parents during parent/teacher day is that my number one goal is to make their child the best possible English reader and speaker I can because that is the best way to insure that they have as much of an advantage when they get out of school and have to work. I read with them daily, reading maybe about 60-90 seconds per child. But Sophia cannot read to save her life. She basically just repeats what I say......and when I stop will often just make up words that are similar to what the actual word should be. Sophia FLUENT in English, if u met her u would swear she was a native English speaker. So anyway thank u for this video. I have been watching videos trying to figure out to help Sophia, no one has ever said "No white paper!" "No fluorescent lights!" "Large text". Is there a "better" color paper? Or does it not matter? Black paper white text? Red paper white text......or basically anything other than white with black text. I will create some stories on non white paper with black text and see how it goes. We'll also read outside with natural light and see how that goes. All rooms are fluorescent lighting. So a few days I was like......none of the finals are about reading ability....so I'll just read the finals to her. Not sure how this will work out but I hate seeing such a bright star receive no extra and much needed help at all. Thanx again! Best, Todd....ps.....sorry for the short novel

this is an awesome video. My 8yr old has to have dyslexia. School can test him until the end of the school year. Have talked about failing him. He tries but, after last school year shut down. He has an awesome teacher this year who has helped him tremendously. However, sounding out words is difficult. Spelling is out of the question. Ive practically given up. Reading has been my priority. This gives me a lot info. I will be reviewing this over and over again.

My son is 7 years old. He hasn't got passed his name. It's all he can read, and obviously all he can write. I've got 4 kids. The other 3 just.... got it. We are at a loose end on how to teach him. The school (in Scotland) is well aware. They just keep saying things like "yeah we are going to try this new class next year." Now that hasn't worked, they want to split that class in 2. They keep coming up with these... excuses and lazy answers really. He has ADHD and a touch of autism, which obviously doesn't help. But this is a mainstream school and they are trying to stop us putting him in a school for kids with special needs/learning difficulties. They really have alot more control of what we do with our kids over here.
