I made this as a quick dessert and yes, it is exactly the flavour from when I was a kid (I'm not Indian but I used to live in East London where we were really spoiled with Mithai shops)! Great recipe! Had to use cashews as I didn't have any pistachios in the cupboard but it was still delicious. Look forward to exploring the rest of your channel. Have a great Diwali! 💞
I was craving Indian sweets a few weeks ago , but because of the heat couldn’t face making them so I bought some online, they were pleasant , but in no way compared to this recipe, I’ve just made it again and it’s truly yummy , decided I’m going to go through all your recipes this winter, they all look fantastic, you are such a brilliant teacher ❤️
I tried this recipe , last night, you’re instructions are so thorough, it came out perfectly, not gummy , & sticky like my previous attempts, that tiny bit of lemon juice really does the trick! Just subscribed!!😍
It's cooling right now. I attempted a small batch, added zest of an orange as well. It smells divine! Thank you for this amazing recipe. Can't wait to try different versions of it.
I'm so happy your channel came up in my suggestions. Your content is going to really improve on my Indian cooking. It's my mother's birthday soon and I'm planning a meal from your videos. UpTo now this is on the menu as my mum has a sweet tooth, Malai kofta looks amazing and rich so that is going to be my main dish with cumin rice. I have a beetroot chutney I make and a few of your chutney recipe won't go a miss. I was going to make samosa until I saw your fluffy samosa bread that will be one of my appetizers. Thank you for this opportunity to build an amazing menu from your videos
Sanjana this is exactly I like the barfi crumbley. These days sweet shop make tasteless and very sweet and sticky when you chew. Penda and Barfi was my favourite sweets but I put off theses days I don’t get the texture I want and haven’t eaten for ages. Please make Mawa Penda. Also I saw your ice cream barfi it was out of the world. You are master chef in cooking hats 🎩 off to you. Thanks for your hard work 🙏🇬🇧uk
I made this...but I added saffron to.the milk....They were too good...better than store bought......my daughter is addicted to it...and so am I....its better than chocolates!!!! Made 2 batches already....my only problem is to remove the burfi from the tray.....it looks ugly...and need to reshape it......but the taste and texture ..is really awesome. Thanks for your guidance.
Hi sanjana I lie your recipe and also tried today. But my mixer was runny n the start but bit thorn at the end of the process. What could be the reason.
I assume the cardamom should be green (?) as it's the sweet one, but I only had black in - it is ok to use black, or is no cardamom better than using black? I used less than a teaspoon of black, as it's a stronger and smokier taste...the barfi turned out quite dense (might use less milk powder next time) but very nice - thanks for the video!
Hi Paul, thanks for your comment! If green cardamom isn't available, I'd just skip it and add the saffron and vanilla. If it feels dense, do keep the measurements the same, but cook the mixture for less time. The result will be softer. Hope this helps! Sanjana
Can you, or anyone, tell me exactly what type of milk powder works well for this recipe. I have tried Nido whole milk powder but I was not successful, it did not dissolve into a nice paste. I'm in the U.S. Thank You! 🎉❤
@@sanjana.feasts Hi! Did you keep heat the whole way through at level 1 or the milk/butter/sugar on a higher heat and then bring it down before adding the powder? Thank you :)
What happens if you just use skimmed milk powder and skimmed milk? I was thinking of not using butter and replacing the sugar with sweetener and xanthan gum to make it low calorie

I could not find list (measures) of ingredients anywhere, even after clicking on the link
Very true non of her recipes have measurements in the recipes and instead of giving lecture please post the measurements
best recipe ever
Lovely 👌🤩

But my mixer was runny n the start but bit thorn at the end of the process.
What could be the reason.
Yummy really love your style of cooking😊🙏🏽
Thank you so much Chhaya!
Hi, Can i use home made Ghee instead of butter?
Yes, you can
Hi, it looks like a good recipe, but can you plz add a quantity of ingredients
If I want to make the barfi about a week in advance what is the best way to store it? Fridge or freezer or does it not keep well stored for that long?
Looks so good, can this be made in a vegan version?
I’m working on one :)
Can this be cooked in the micro like how penda is sometimes made?

Can you use Stevia granules instead of sugar please 🙏?

I have an induction cooker with heat levels ranging from 1 to 9.
Should I cook the Barfi out on level 1 heat?
Yep!
@@sanjana.feasts Hi! Did you keep heat the whole way through at level 1 or the milk/butter/sugar on a higher heat and then bring it down before adding the powder? Thank you :)
@@gauriagnihotri8022 You turn it down once the mixture becomes a paste as that’s when it’s more likely to burn. Before that a higher heat is fine.
This is a great recipe, Sanjana! Can you please make almond barfi?
Another great recipe Sanjana, will definitely give it a go this Diwali👌
Enjoy! I hope you love it Sonia.
Looks amazing
What is measurement for each ingredient?
On my website!

Can you use ghee instead of butter and also can you grease the pan with ghee instead of using parchment paper
Yes you can!
Please how much
Does the lemon juice not make it tangy?
Not in such a small quantity
What happens if you just use skimmed milk powder and skimmed milk? I was thinking of not using butter and replacing the sugar with sweetener and xanthan gum to make it low calorie
I don’t think it’ll set properly. Might just be a paste. Good luck with it though!
@@sanjana.feasts yeah i think the fat is what gives the burfi its solid structure when set
Yummy 😋
Thank you!
YUM YUM YUMMMMMM
Thanks so much!
Could you upload the measurements in cups please
Amazing 😍
Thanks so much!
Could you please add the ingredients into cups
I can't find exact information on ingredients
Recipe is on my website and the link is in the description box.
Where r the measurements? They're not on the website either
Hi, if you click the link in the description box, they're on the page it takes you to. You may need to scroll down the page to find it.
Do you have the recipe in US measurements?
Hi, no unfortunately not. I recommend a kitchen scale for accuracy.

Can I skip the cardamom? I really, really hate cardamom!
Sure!
Any recipe for the besan barfi?
I have a Monhalthal recipe on my channel.
How can this be made vegan?
You can try with soy milk powder and plant-based milk or coconut milk. I haven't tested either so can't say how they will turn out.
I clicked on link but couldn't find recipe just more instructions no ingredients list and measurements
Hi, I’m sorry but can’t seem to fine the recipe??

No ingrediants mentioned. Atleast provide accurate measure so that it comes out perfect....
It's doesn't help talking through the recipe without giving the measurements of the ingredients.
As mentioned in the video, the recipe link is in the description box.
Do you have recipe for Rasmalai cake?
