You are obviously an Aviator at heart and I wish you well in your flying endeavours . I look forward to more updates etc. from you. By the way, one of my favorite "go-to" addon aircraft is the Beech Bonanza A36. Its realistic and handles very well. [gladly subscribed].

The brand new "Hot Start TBM 900" is getting rave reviews and I will no doubt buy that at some point. Right now I fly the Carenado TBM 850 and use it for most of my IFR cross-country flights. The HotStart version is even better it seems. I cannot imagine life without a good home-based flight simulator. And it just keeps getting better. I am sure that in 3 years or so VR will be superb and many of the little bugs/annoyances will be gone.
Dan TheMan if you get the TBM 900, and fly VR, be sure to get SimVRLabs VR files for it. Joe did a great job on it and I’m thinking about getting soon too. I have eyed the A36 as well. I also dabble with VR conversion work. It’s a great way to enhance the hobby and refresh older great planes for the new medium.
That was a really good video, as Dan TheMan said you speak in a very nice and clear voice without the horrible rock music that usually accompanies these videos. I have the Oculus Rift and Xplane 11 and Flyinside's new VR simulator and I love all of it. Like you, I am a real world pilot and love the idea of being able to fly from the comfort of my armchair with the VR gear on. Do you fly IFR in VR or just VFR? I do find that visually Oculus Rift can be a bit of an eye strain when I am trying to read the instruments.
David Cornwell - Hi David! Thanks for the comment. I usually use match real world weather settings so sometimes that dictates IFR or VFR. But yes I do both! I haven’t tried FlyInside’s new VR sim but hear good things about it. Getting the right balance of background music is not always easy. In this case I had voiced over the video and had a lot better control of the audio mix because of it. Thanks for the Sub! Let me know if there’s a topic suggestion!
Hey I liked your video on VR cockpit. I am currently redesigning my sim to be more VR friendly. How do you avoid hitting the yoke mount with the controller when there are switches and such in the sim. and is there an adjustment for the controller sensitivity ...when I am changing radio frequencies and I release the trigger the frequency jumps up or down a number. It is very distracting. It is also a problem when I am loading a flight plan.
John Panik I know what you mean. I won’t say it doesn’t happen; the physical yoke and controllers can get in the way. The use of the “laser pointer” from the controller is very helpful. So don’t get too hung up that your hand has to go to the exact spot of the switch. I also recommend leaving your area as open as you can. Trying to do VR in an enclosed cockpit can be difficult and more likely to bump into things. Particularly on your right side, leave that whole area as open as possible giving maximum freedom of movement to your right hand.
