      I think there's definitely some more luxurious resorts than the RIU hotels, but the entertainment at the RIU ones is top class and their price is affordable. Punta Cana is great to visit with lots to do so all the best with your trip when you do go!

    Verygood job with this... I agree with most of what you said.. I been here 2 times and will go back.. I like the location next to the Hardrock cause if you walk past it.. it gets isolated and some do skinny dip (naked). Main thing that is holding this back from a 5* is 1/2 off for food quality and needing 3 full service sit down restaurants... and 1/2 off for rooms being standard.. no seperate hot tub in rooms or balconys having 1 or inside room having a nice layout.. it's a standard 3* room.. I give the beach a 5. amount of pools 5, entertainment 5 ... room 3.5 and food 3.5 .... service 4.. overall a 4 out of 5

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes definitley I agree. I went up the beach past the hard rock, but on that day it was pouring with rain so it just looked like we'd been washed up on a desert island haha

      Thanks Philip, the Dominican Rep is pretty amazing and I'd be in awe if I was able to be there right now. The flight isn't actually too bad because of the fact that you've traveled to a tropical paradise in the same time that you'd spend in bed at night, it's about 8 hours from the UK x

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend sticking to Dollars, virtually everywhere will accept them and you know where you stand in terms of value. The Dominican Peso is very out of proportion, for example 1 dollar is over 50 pesos, which makes trying to work out how much things cost very hard and you could easily get ripped off.
      In terms of blocks, I stayed in the right hand side away from the noise of the entertainment theatre, so if anywhere I would recommend my block which overlooked the Hard Rock Hotel

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You shouldn't have to book the restaurants, you'll turn up and if there isn't a table available you'll be given a bluetooth/radio signal buzzer that goes off when there is a table for you (first come first served) so you can go and walk around or grab a drink in a bar whilst you wait

    Thank you for posting you video. I am a total foodie as well and love garlic, so your video helped me prepare myself. I do have a question though, my husband and I and our 18 year old son will be booking this trip for his senior year vacation next year. What was the average age range for this resort? As you said, you are young so I was just curious if you thought the atmosphere catered to the older adults or the younger adults or was there a good mixture of both?

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Amy, there are a mixture of pools through the day and the ones with bars playing the remixy electro type music definitely had a young adult vibe to them, but there are also quieter pools that tended to have older folk around. At night, unless there was a neon party, the main entertainment stage would always have some type of typical hotel entertainment to suit all ages, like magic or dancing for example, then for young adults, you've got the club and the parties/raves when they are on.
      There's also a quiet bar next to the Spanish and Indian restaurant which was really nice to sit at of an evening if you want to go somewhere a bit less lively.
      Overall, the atmosphere in the hotel definitely didn't feel like it was for young adults, it felt like it suited all ages. Hope that helps :)

    Hi,
    Do you know anything about what the weather is in May in Dominican Republic?a group of friends we will go to the RIU Republica on May 17,and thanks for sharing this video

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The weather is good all year round and generally in the low 30s (90F) during the day and 20s (80F) at night. It's a pretty tropical climate so there's always a chance of a shower or storm but because it's hot and humid it'll dry up quickly afterwards and not last long, unless you get a tropical storm which could happen at that time of year, but it's unlikely.
      Thanks!

    I’m looking to go here in November, do you get access to the other Riu hotels?

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The other RIU hotels are quite a distance away. You get access to their pool parties but I don't think you do for anything else. They would have the same restaurants there and there's a massive variety at the Republica - more than others - so you wouldn't need to go there for much else other than the entertainment that might not be put on at the Republica.

    Hello! I have stayed at this hotel before and very much so enjoyed it. We are going back next month very excited! Are the main hotel sites within walking distance?

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're probably within walking distance down the beach if you can manage the hot humid temperatures, or if it's a cooler part of the day you might manage it better. Suppose you could just walk in the sea lol.
      We never attempted it but I reckon it would take 20 - 30 mins to walk.

    Good video, going in a couple of weeks, first time in DR. (both in our 70's ). What's the tipping policy for Brits, in Goa, we usually tip $1 to the guys bringing the drinks each day, then bigger tip to all staff at the end of the holiday. Is this OK in DR, or is it better to tip every day? After watching your video, I wish I was going tomorrow!!

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
      @Davsteridiot53no2  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As for the keycards wiping themselves. Have you kept the card near your phone or something with a 3g4g connection. Due to these, it can cause the cards to wipe. They should actually warn you about this. Every hotel in Vegas warn you of this.

    • @Davsteridiot53no2
