- All About The Pins On The 555 Timer
In this video I demonstrate that by connecting the THRESHOLD and TRIGGER pins of the 555 together and then toggling them between VCC & Ground either enables or disables the 200mA OUTPUT.

HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2TdS2Ux
One of the symptoms is that it causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face..

That was a good demonstration! Thanks!
Always good to go over these classics and refresh the old brains.
This is by far the best explanation of this little diamond.
Hi Paul, love your vids as you talk in easy to understand language that helps me greatly as a very late learner to electronics. Please keep them coming and very interested in your anti dog barking project as I’m in desperate need of one! Keep well and best wishes from Perth, Western Australia
Perth! I've been to Perth. Friendliest people I met anywhere while I was in the Navy.
Enjoy short and to the point on the basics that can build upon in follow-up sessions. Way to many complicated 555 videos posted. Good job; thanks.
Through explanation, thank you.

Grabbing the oscilloscope and playing with the control voltage pin could make a good video on a slow day.
Back to basics.. I love it.....The 555
Great video Paul. I’m looking forward to learning more about this gem.
Awesome!The 555 is one of my favs.Great video!💪🏽
You could set it up as a speaker protection circuit for DC offset exceeds a certain threshold. ADCOM likes to use the 555 Timer for that purpose.
Great! Please expand on this. Like: Why connecting 6 to2?
Tying pins 2 and 6 together ensures that they will both be referenced to the same voltage to ensure that they are never in the same state at the same time. Keeps the circuit stable.
Can you make a video to show how to make a comparator from transistors and diodes like in the 555 internal curcuit... the only curcuit that I don't understand inside of the 555 timer is the comparator stage and can't find info on line.. Could you please explain how to make and how a diode/transistor comparator works...
Thanks...
Basically you are using the 555 as a relay in this demonstration
Is it possible to make a custom 555 timer by a
Dual comparator lm393 act as 2/3 and 1/3 comparators
One nand gate sr flipflop using ic7400
2 bjts one npn and pnp
And a output driver circuit
And 3x 5kohm resistor??
You need almost 70 transistors. Have a look at the Evil Mad Scientist Three Fives kit. It is an analog 555.
Ah the 555 the most used chip in the world!
