The story of Arthas will always be the best, and most tragic, story in warcraft (Followed closely by the harrowing life of Jaina).

Same reason people felt sorry for Vader before he died...its literally the same story, good guy turns evil and becomes what he fought to save what he was trying to protect ends up destroying it. Then is in so deep can't find redemption so people feel sorry for him.
Who would have thought the once proud prince, warrior, and paladin knight of Lordaeron, will become one of the greatest most terrifying being/villain in the entire Warcraft universe
