I hope so. I was pretty annoyed since it was probably my fault for moving them under the cedar tree. I wouldn't be able to replace these with anything close to the same size around here.
You shouldn't let them see any freezing Temps are heavy cold rain if they're in pots. That's what I think! Glad they're alive. My super mule almost died but is growing like 5 inches a week.
Could be. Temps weren't too bad other than the weeks I brought them inside when daytime highs were below freezing. I have pindos and a chamerops that stay out in pots as well and have for years with no issues. I think what did them in was when I moved them under the cedar tree. They got a bunch of dead cedar needles that fell into the crown after I moved them.
@Vibonita Tropics hey that's cool I stayed at a hotel in Seattle last year, and they had nice sized European fan palms in pots out front. I'm outside of yelm and it gets cold here got down to 13! Seattle is definitely a zone or 2 warmer. Happy growing.
I've been saving my Windmill palms in the same manner. I've even cut the crown (not the trunk!) a few inches down in some cases with 85% success. The failures were the ones that I began treating too late.
When u bring ur palms in for the winter do u mist them or have a humidity tray (have palm sitting on rocks in a saucer w a little wster- water not touching pot rocks help w that)? How often do you water them? How do u water them? Do u have a heating pad or light to help them stay warmer in the housr?
I dont do anything special other than water once a week. I just have one palm that I bring in all winter which is the pygmy date palm. My other potted palms - mule, sabal minor, European fan, washingtonia, cabbage, sabal causiarum, and smaller windmill palms only get brought in if nighttime lows are going to be low 20s F or about -7 C. I am thinking of putting the mule palms in the ground this year.
I know they're not related, but I have a Traveler's Palm here in southwest La. that I think had a fungus because the central spear just pulled right out. I'll try this, just to pour full strength hydrogen peroxide into the cavity once the spear is removed and wait. It's Sept. 11, 2023, so we still have quite a bit of warm weather left. For whatever reason, it just rotted on me. Wish me luck!
The time u are treating them for the 6 weeks w peroxide and copper fungicide, do u water them at all? U said hydrogen peroxide 1/wk how often do u spray w coper fungicide?
Excellent information. Thank you
Thanks, Mary!
Yes don't give up and looks like their going to pull through!

It works well!

Good luck! Both my mule palms have had a full recovery.
I've also recovered windmill palms this way with great success.

I gave them water once a week but be sure to get it right on the soil and not on the plant.
I sprayed with fungicide each time I used peroxide
I have this issue with my outdoor palm, I can't move it into the house. Copper Fungicide is the ticket. Thank you!!!!
Hydrogen peroxide also
