To me, the word that comes to my mind the most is: Blasphemy.
The song has such and ethereal sound, it’s fitting for a god. But at the same time, it’s a bit unnerving and creepy to listen to it… like something is very wrong. It’s not dangerous- it’s not like an evil god is about to smite you or something. It’s way too calm and peaceful for that. It’s just the feeling that something wrong is happening in secret, hidden away from the average people. Something quite horrifying. Something really, really wrong.
A god being locked away, and people being held hostage and used without their consent in order to create a new god fits that whole theme perfectly imo.
And it’s that one word that comes to mind. Blasphemy. What Azar and his buddies have bee doing in secret is blasphemous.
That’s what the song represents for me. The horror of finding out what’s going on, and the realisation that here we’re dealing something far beyond what we’ve seen so far. We’re dealing with gods, we’re dealing with the roots of the entire world, and we’re dealing with the worst humans can become.

Took the words right out of my mouth. That's exactly what I was thinking too! I feel more of the Hidden Truth in Sumeru. Where everyone, including the Dendro Archon is locked away in a dream. Where not even a simple truth can solve the unknown crisis in Sumeru.

I feel the same way. When i watched King Deshret's cutscene and this ost came on i was so unsettled. Seeing forbidden knowledge's effect on humans and the screams in the background gave me goosebumps. I love when games do this kinda dark twist. As you said, it's nothing explicit or dangerous, but instead it gives you the feeling that you're stumbling into something that you shouldn't know or see, and therefore it feels weirdly and unnervingly wrong. I can only imagine if this game was rated +18 but i hope to see more of this in the future and specially in Khaenriah

You just put into words what I couldn't. It's especially fitting for Nahida, considering she is the Goddess of Wisdom, and despite being a very young god, it feels like she knows so much more than she lets us in on. I love how you said it feels like something is very wrong but not in an aggressive way; I totally agree and think it conveys a much deeper issue surrounding the world of Teyvat. If anyone knows the truths and horrors of Teyvat, it would be the Dendro Archon; past or present. The singing in the background also reminds me of the part in the Fatui trailer where Columbina was singing on Signora's coffin. A very haunting yet beautiful sound.

i think that is why sumeru's story is such a dreadfully beautiful one - i have finished fontaine's AQ (spoilers ahead) and while it was emotional, well written, and definitely a tier above any other quests in this game, i find myself revisiting sumeru's story, still. because for once, we can see how evil humanity really can be. you don't get to see much else of that in other parts of the game, since its the abyss, the fatui, the archon, celestia, who are "evil".. but sumeru made it clear that the humans of teyvat are no innocent beings either. a literal GOD being imprisoned by her own people, is such a sad fate.

“No. I want you to plead guilty in front of the archon herself.” Upon hearing Cyno say this, Azar suddenly felt a strange chill. He could not pinpoint where it came from, but it was piercing through him as if his very soul was exposed to the world. He slowly turned towards the cage where the Lesser Lord was suspended in the air. Her eyes were now wide open, and she gazed down at Azar. Nahida peered at Azar intently, not with any malice or judgment, but with an expression of almost neutral curiosity, as if she could see right through him. At that moment, all of Azar's transgressions began to stir from within him. Memories of all his disservices to his archon he carried out during his time as the Grand Sage. Throughout his life, Azar sought ultimately above all else, to gain the wisdom of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. As a boy, he was told stories of the Greater Lord, and of how fruitless her successor was. He kept her locked away in the sanctuary, away from her people, away from everything. He, along with the other grand sages subjected her to 500 years of solitude. She, who loved her people above all else, was unable to see anything beyond a white wall, bathed in a pale green glow, all the while Azar and his colleagues sought to replace her. Overwhelmed by these emotions, all coming to light at once, invading his mind proved too much for Azar to bear, and he crumbled to the ground, submitting.

This chorus is very fitting for Nahida.
She looks like a child but has the knowledge and wisdom of a God.
So there is something very captivating about this childlike melody.
It should be childish but the echo gave it an otherworldly presence.

For me, this is the first piece of music in genshin that makes me feel like I'm in the presence of a god. Something so absurdly powerful the atmosphere itself gains a reverent tone. Sadly, nahida's look doesn't quite mesh with that feeling (still love her design though). I hope that they'll do something like they did in honkai and add multiple versions of the same character with different abilities because I would love to see a grown up nahida.

    • @MatryoshkaNow
      @MatryoshkaNow ปีที่แล้ว +196

Aged-up Nahida would be neat to see, though if they do that, I'd rather it be as some sort of new ascension feature (get level to 100 and you unlock new skin and upgraded abilities, something like that) rather than having to spend primos (constellations are bad enough ;~; ). That or maybe at some point they could just make Rukkhadevata playable. If we're going off Honkai, playable dead characters is entirely possible. Could see them doing a series of "Ancient Champions" banners with characters like Guizhong, Vanessa, Kitsune Saiguu, etc.

    • @MJ-zq9zg
      @MJ-zq9zg ปีที่แล้ว +111

@@MatryoshkaNow I love the ancient champions idea! But sadly I just dont think that would work in an open world like genshin:( For honkai it’s different because all the arenas are relatively contained, meaning theres less relevancy as to who you’re playing as. In genshin you are constantly controlling a character, meaning your character has to have valid, real, and current connections to the world around them.

Honestly, everyone is praising Fontaine for being the only "interesting part" of Genshin.. as if Sumeru didn't introduce a good plot. It introduced some of the most important lore we've gotten, including Irminsul. It invoked a lot of emotion from its story as well. While Fontaine does some fantastic things Sumeru doesn't, I don't believe it outshines Sumeru. They're both amazing.

This song reminds me of something very important and it is the powerful role that the Archon Dendro has compared to other Archons. Perhaps Morax is the oldest and the Shogun is currently the most powerful archon, but Nahida is essentially the avatar of the Irmisul, a branch of this tree that took a humanoid form. Nahida is part of something much more transcendental than almost any living being in the world, she is part of the Irmisul, the most powerful tree in all of GI... It is the tree that has the closest connection to the very tree of the ley lines, tree that is in a mystical plane totally different from the physical one. Nahida is the guardian and avatar of this tree. The tree contains all of Teyvat's knowledge as its branches spread across the entire continent. During the archon war, while all the archons were fighting, Celestia forced the archon Ruka to defend the tree, because if the tree perished... IT WOULD BE THE END OF EVERYTHING. Khaerian's victory. Knowledge is a power higher than any other type of power and Nahida is the personification of where all of Teyvat's knowledge is stored. It is impressive, extremely impressive. This song gives me a feeling that everything is fine, because I am facing something totally superior but that does not want to hurt me, something mystical, something that I cannot understand but that I want to see. If there was a place where the answers to all the doubts and problems of humanity and the universe existed, when entering that place, a song like this should sound.

Honestly, this tune reflects the same primal horror that I experienced when watching a documentary about a journey to the center of the earth when I was a child. And the same thing happens in the game from update to update. Mondstadt, which was only indirectly affected by the cataclysm. San Vindagnir, buried under celestial ice. The history of the war of the Archons and the general massacre. Foggy island, buried under the mists. An ancient civilization that caught the First. Immersion in the depths of the caves, where the ruins of the United Civilization and the column imprisoned in them are still preserved, a passing manifestation of the direct connection of Enkanomia with Khaenriah. The fact that the memory of the people of Teyvat is nothing more than archives that can be changed. And now we are going straight to the story of the last Fairy. I can't even imagine where we're going next.

Words can't describe how well they composed this song. We all already know how amazing Genshin's music is, but this one just hit different. It's mysterious, like you don't know if it's safe or unsafe. It makes you feel like this is the place of someone or something powerful. But, once the choir starts singing, it gives it more of a safe, child like, feeling. Kinda like voices in the background telling you of not only her power she possesses, but her child like demeanor all at once. It also perfectly describes Genshin, and it's lore. If you listen to the song without the choir, it's scary, mysterious, and gives off a feeling that it isn't safe. But the choir helps balance that out with its innocent sound. Seriously, when I finished the archon quest, I stayed in that room for an extra hour because I was so obsessed with this song.

This song feels so ominous, yet like magic. It feels like magic is being created right in front of you, and you’re watching in amusement. But, it’s like the magic is dark magic. And you’re at a risk by just standing in front of it. The story of Sumeru is still so crazy to me. How Rukkhadevata got erased in the end, and Nahida didn’t even remember anything about Rukkhadevata. And Nahida was trapped in the Sanctuary for 500 years. She was like a child when she was put into the sanctuary. She never had the time to play happily, and never had the time to be like a child. Instead, she was trapped. Trapped inside of the sanctuary for what was hundreds of years, with everyone supporting the imprisonment of their own archon. Even though, she only cared for her people. Just like all of the other archons.

imagined if this music is played in enkanomiya back then,,,,,, the eeriness is on peak XD,,,,,,,port ormos might be one of the best soundtrack in sumeru but to me this soundtrack is one of the most unforgetable, the feeling between sadness, anger and divine is mixed, not to mention it connected to the story of rukhadevatta, and how sumeru's story (not only archon's act, also world's quest) can changed and darker, genshin slowly following it's predecessor, honkai :"D

Unlike other people, who may have an unsettleing feeling with this theme, i actually feel light headed, its so eery that it calms me, i always believed it was a kind of tune that Rukkhadevata left behind for Nahida, without knowing that her people would lock her in there

this soundtrack (or song), is probably one of the most heavenly songs I have ever heard. heavenly with a hint of terrifying things in the song, and when I first heard this soundtrack, I was so in love with the song and some chills ran down my spine. i personally think that this soundtrack was a great turn while Nahida was telling us about the descenders and answering our questions to add that creepy feeling.
this soundtrack in question though, really is calming but is terrifying along with Damslette’s/Columbina’s singing too, I really like this soundtrack a lot

    edit: got a 96/100 💪 lost the 50/50 to tighnari though :(
edit 2: i have two tests tomorrow and will continue to do this great test ritual yes (no i am not superstitious or anything just doing this for the funsies + great song to study to)

(I don’t why, I just thought this up while listening to this music)
“Well greetings humble Traveler, I’ve been watching you for quite a while, and I must say, I’m quite impressed, ehe.”
“Anyways, I would like to say my thanks to you for saving me and Sumeru..”
“I couldn’t possibly give you anything for my gratitude… Oh? I don’t need to give you anything? You are too kind Traveler.”
“Let’s get back on topic though. Why did you come for me?”
“…I’m assuming that it has to do with.. your sibling, I presume?”
“Aha. You’re guessing that I should know something about your sibling’s whereabouts, right? Hehe, I mean, I AM the god of wisdom.”
“Truth be told though, I’m not sure about that. I bet Greater Lord Rukkhadevata could’ve known. She would’ve done a better job than me, heh…”
“But I should not dwell on the past.”
“Anyways, I can search Irminsul for your sibling’s whereabouts, but their current whereabouts will not be guaranteed.”
“Still, consider this my gift of gratitude to you for saving us.”
“..It won’t be too hard for me dear Traveler, don’t worry..”
“I’m not the grand, picturesque, Greater Lord everyone expects, but…”
    “..I’m not to be underestimated.”
    “Nonetheless, you should get going.”
“You’re quite the busy bee, hehe.”
“Farewell, Traveler, I hope your journey goes well.”
“Traveler, wait, I forgot to tell you something.”
“Be cautious. Always trust your gut, alright?”
“Anyways, I’m sure you must get going.”
“I’ll be looking out for your next grand adventure, star-born Traveler.”

i never thought i'd hear one of the most touching themes for divine enlightenment in an anime waifu slot machine. it's almost like a prophecy for Nahida, anticipating her coming into godhood. her blooming from a fragile child into her true identity. because it is known who she is and her godhood is a repeating of a cycle.
