This archon quest felt like a collective team effort with Cyno, Alhaitham, Dehya and Candace's involvement. It's so refreshing because the traveler was the one usually fighting all alone in the previous archon quests.
Technically traveller has only really ever fought alone vs childe and osais' wife. Jean, diluc venti and gang helped in mond, the adeptai and qixing in liyue, the kamisato clan + watatsumi rebellion + alcor crew in inazuma.
I think Traveler is just a catalyst for the story in each chapter. None of the people who gather around them will ever join together to fight for the same cause without another commonality. It was shown in the prologue, as Jean who was in the sword and the wall with the Fatui and her own opinions of the Stormterror incident, Diluc who is protector of Mondstadt but refuses to cooperate with the KoF, and Venti who as an archon wanted to keep his people out of the responsibility of dealing with Dvalin. In Liyue was the same, with Traveler indirectly joining the factions of the Adepti and the Qixing to protect the city from the Fatui's plan to call out Morax. Without them, Zhongli's little contract could've had lower odds of succeeding and he will be exposed. And then in Inazuma, without the Traveler, the Yashiro comission would never had the chance to rebel against the Vision Hunt Decree as they had to stay neutral, had the other two commissions starring at them + the previous incident with the Kaedehara clan that left them in a bad position to be stripped of everything. The Watatsumi army needed allies in Narukami Island to succeed and the Traveler connected both rebels; adding also to the fact that Yae would've stayed doing absolutely nothing to change Ei's mind and the whole war will be in a much more larger scale.
@@Isyida7 yeah but in other regions it felt like people told us what to do and we went to do it This time, everyone does whatever they want and we do something together
So if this is the case for both Kusanali and Guoba, then could Paimon possibly also be a result of someone of greater power sacrificing themselves to save a nation? As we know so far, Paimon is the only one of her kind, and she is also pretty tiny, just like Guoba and Nahida. So maybe she is just fulfilling her duties to guide the Traveler, just as how Nahida is a replacement for Rhukkadevata?
fck these bots Anyway, that is possible if Paimon is one of the shades or Phanes itself in order to save its existence against the purging of Celestia to their civilization. But still, Arama's line on Aranyaka Act 3 could suggest that Paimon is either the *first seelie* to fall in love with a human that caused a curse to befall on their kin (a possible occurrence to why, currently, there are no other Paimon in Teyvat), or the *daughter* of the first seelie and a human (I mean, she's human-like fairy. Not far-fetched to how Diona's kind originated in the books..)
For those still confused about Rukkhadevata and Kusanali connection after 3.2 Archon Quest. Imagine a Rose plant, suppose the plant is dying or corrupted, you simply take out a healthy rose branch/stem and then place it in another pot where it grows into a healthy plant again. Now it wouldn't matter even if the original plant died, since the cut off branch will still live on independently.
And it has the same characteristics as that rose, but it's not exactly like that rose, so the Karen that adores roses down the street took it and lock it in her car trunk Edit: maybe it's better to say The Karen wanted the first rose, found it after a hurricane but notice that it wasn't exactly the first rose, and since she already took it, might as well locked it in her basement
1:50 My mouth was fully agape while watching this scene, it was beautifully animated and the colors were so pretty. Mihoyo always outdone their cutscenes, looking forward to more.
This is the first archon quest were the build up with act 1-2-3 was so perfectly executed that it made me actually dumb founded and excited. when the moment this cut scene played and I connected all the dots from the previous acts and realized that the people of present day Sumuru are currently making the same mistake that the scarlet king made all those years ago. The forbidden knowledge that the academia are messing with is repeating history. If nothing is done the forests of Sumuru will end up like the dessert the withering is the beginneing of the forests becoming lifeless like the dessert. And to find out that the disease Eleazar is actually the same disease that the people of the scarlet king suffered because of the forbidden knowledge. Love it. Classic if you don't learn from the past history is bound to repeat its self. The story's are gonna just keep getting better.
The Enemy of Wisdom is Wisdom itself. The Sages calling themselves wise and great are the the biggest fools for letting themselves become ignorant of all the dangers in the pursuit of divine knowledge. In the end, it is they that will fall when the truth is revealed, and the price for such is often deep in blood...
This is easily my the most favourite story teaser. Revealed a lot about our precious Dendro Archon, but also didn't forget about Cyno's ancestors and his bloodline. I really love this progress in storytelling of main quests in Genshin. Already looking forward for continue in 3.2 and how Scaramouche and Traveler storylines going to be crossed
Ohhhhh so that was cyno's ancestor?? Now it makes sense. That's why I was wondering how old was cyno haha. No wonder they looked familiar because it wasn't him but his ancestor. Phew thanks for clearing this confusion 😅
I thought that was Cyno haha! I got confused because of "the sight of that noble diety" was still showing the Anubis head, so I thought it was Future Sight
Came back here after finishing the recent Fontaine Archon Quest, only to find out that Kasala (the one narrating in this cutscene) shares the same voice actor as Lyney! Daman Mills is amazing with his voice range 💗
Just to make clear, these cutscenes show the death of the Scarlet King, which took place thousands years before the main story began. These cutscenes also show that Rukkhadevata shrunk to the size of a child due to using too much of her powers. However, it is not explained that she died at that very moment. Based on the book "The Folio of Foliage" written by a scholar who was with Rukkhadevata in her last journey, Dendro Archon died during the cataclysm which occurred about 500 years before the main event. The reason for this was that Rukkhadevata once again sacrificed herself and merged with the earth and she becomes "Gaokerena" to protect Sumeru from the attacks and curses of the Black Tide caused by the Abyss / Khaenriah's destruction. Based on those, Nahida was born and found by the Sages after the Cataclysm. Is Nahida really was Rukkhadevata who lost her powers and memories? I really hope we can find the answer in the next patch. Edit : Additional theory. I see. That's why the Statue of Seven in Sumeru has the form of a God in her teen/child form. The statue was made after Rukkhadevata shrank for the first time. Considering how the Sages and people of Sumeru treated Nahida, I'm not so sure that the statue represents Lesser Lord Kusanali.
As an Indian, they messed up by calling her 'RukkhDEVTA' you see, Rukkh-: tree/vegitation Devta-: god (used in masculine sense to indicate male gods) What they should have done is call her 'RukkhDEVI' Devi-: godess ( used in feminine sense to indicate female divinity)
i find it confusing that the death of the scarlet king was happen before or during the cataclysm. I think what you say explains it. Where did you find that book by the way?
The way I understood it Kusanali and Rukkhadevata are indeed the same person but similiar to the way of the Aranara she has lost all of her memories in the process.
The eerie vocals of a children's choir made to imitate a somehow Egyptian-feel, the wall-relief style animations inspired from the Egyptian art style, and the power within that narrator's voice, one of the best game cutscenes I've seen in my lifetime. I'm glad to be born just to see such a magnificent video as this.
The ultimate sacrifice of Nahida shows the kindness and pureness of her soul. She really deserves to be the goddess of Sumeru, bless her And this part was written so well I loved it. Gonna watch it over and over again
@@hellother52 Yeah, a lot of people are misinterpreting this. This took place thousands of years ago, before the fall of khaenri'ah. The form that was shown in this also doesn't seem to be Nahida - looks slightly taller than her, more like a teen. And according to some vague analogies used by leakers, its already confirmed what she is lol. Lets just say they really pulled out the honkai in this one...
i copied another person comment : 1. Thousands of years ago Al-Ahmar (Scarlet king) brought a forbidden knowledge. Things had gone bad for people are still using it. 2. Greater Lord Rukkhadevata summoned the priest of the desert to guard the towers of life. To stun the spread of forbidden knowledge. 3. The help Greater Lord Rukkhadevata was not enough to stun or cleanse the desert of the forbidden knowledge. So King Deshret (Scarlet king), in the end, sacrificed himself to eradicate the spread of forbidden knowledge. 4. Many years later, this is the one you forgot and must have skipped, the priest is now old enough to D word, meaning they cannot supervise the desert any more... but before they died Greater Lord Rukkhadevata appeared once more to amplify the sacrifice The Scarlet King had done. By doing so she exhausted all her powers to help the Scarlet King, and to provide the priest assurance that nothing bad will happen after they "rest in peace." There are time skips between the original clip. Nothing about her sacrificial was stated it was done thousands of years ago.
@@sylviana562 But Rukha "Dissapeared" during the fall of khaenri'ah. The Scarlet king, which died thousands of years ago (Nahida herself said so) sacrificed himself before Rukha disappeared in the fall. (Another nahida dialogue.) Rukha is not Nahida, but they are kind of interwined. (Saying more will go into leak territory)
Mondstadt: I'm actually an Archon ehe~ Liyue: Imma just copy Venti's plottwist and trade my Gnosis for basically free Inazuma: I didn't want to be a tyrant Sumeru: King Deshret is my besto frendo and I'm just gonna age backwards Nah but I'm really a fan of Sumeru's and Inazuma'a story (eventhough if Inazuma's was a bit stretched in the end there)
It's a shame that King Deshret's civilization got destroyed by that plague, if weren't for that we probably will see their amazing cities and also Rukkhadevata
Whoever voices this story, my goodness… his voice is so soothing and lovely, I just wanna curl up in a blanket. I hope he has more lines ☺️, I’ve never played Genshin Impact before but I think I’ll start to get into it now, this guy and Nahida have convinced me
hi there! I did some hunting for us both and it was Damian Mills! he also voices Weiss in Crisis Core. I was really surprised to learn he did this too! Hope I helped~~
This scene was beautifully animated, the artists at Hoyo outdid themselves again. I hope that one day we'll get a feature in-game where we can view the cutscenes again. Maybe in Fontaine, which has been teased to have a growing movie industry in some of Inazuma's world quests. I could imagine a cinema or a gadget. The cutscenes are beautiful pieces of art and filled with symbolism. It would be a shame to let the players only view them once or on external platforms, like TH-cam.
This entire Archon Quest has been nothing short of amazing, the writing has been completely on point, each of the Acts have been properly connected with hints sprinkled throughout them, the fact that Nahida has been Greater Lord Rukkhadevata all along from the start and just like Guoba used up too much of her Divine power resulting in a loss of size and memories is definitely a very nice plot point, with this we know more about Gods of Teyvat in general and this could be a valid setup for future Archon Quests in other Nations, hope we can see Nahida's adult form in the future, either way this entire scene was utterly stunning ☺️
Noo, you misunderstood! This was 2600 years ago after King Deshret died, Rukkhadevata was weakened and then reduced to the size of a child (like Guoba, so you got what happened, just not the timeline). Then, 500 years ago, Rukkhadevata disappeared and Nahida appeared.
@@axelvinicius3365 Dude this was a 1000 years ago when King Deshret actually died, Nahida turned into a child back then due to overdrawing her powers similar to Guoba, 500 years later during the Khaenriah cataclysm she did it once again but this time wasn't able to recover, meaning it happened 2 times, once a 1000 years ago and another time 500 years ago, please do proper research before trying to correct others next time.
@@axelvinicius3365 Yeah. The timelines don't really match up from the video. Though it's weird that they showed Rukkhadevata's adult state, but not her child state. Since Nahida was first believed to be Rukkhadevata herself, maybe the child state look very similar to Nahida, so to avoid players being confused like the Sages were, they only show silhouette for Rukkhadevata's child form? lol But that just sounds like Raiden's multiple-identical-appearance confusion all over again. Pretty annoying if they do that. It'd be better if they just go with what I said and Nahida is just Rukkhadevata with even less power and no memory.
Poor nahida she went through so much, only for her people to treat her terribly, she is a legendary hero, sacrificing herself to save her people Edit: lore theorists, please can i just have a peaceful time commenting my thoughts of Kusanali without getting bricked with theories, and getting stomped on with these so called 'facts', thanks
@@OrangeBlossomLove and in the game it states she dies after that they found nahida its similar to the amos story people jumped to conclusions until it was revealed she wasn't the one who killed her lover. Or that kaeya was the Prince of khanriah
@@OrangeBlossomLove The story told in this video happened waaaay before Nahida was found by the sages. It doesn’t mean it can’t have happened again in another event, but this isn’t when Nahida was “born”.
The 2D visuals they keep making for archon quests just keep getting better! I can't wait to see what else they will do for the Kunikuzushi x Ei storyline (possibly) in the next update.
One thing I keep asking myself is how Hoyoverse is going to be able to top Sumeru's archon quest. It's so spectacular its not even funny! The writing, the visuals and lore are already some of the best archon quests we've ever had, keep it up Hoyoverse!
I think the most than can do is start bringing in even more of the lore that hasnt been seen in the main quests yet while connecting everything, plus the Fatui seem to be getting alot more serious now so theres that. Which makes me hope the abyss order gets that time too.
They still haven't used their trump card yet, making the story heartwrenching. On a serious note tho, until now we still have a lot we dont know about Teyvat, Fatui, and the Abyss. Exploring this will progessively make the story better, especially during the final chapters when everything is finally came together.
I wish I can experience playing the quests again for the first time. The cutscenes and storytelling were all too good that it gave me goosebumps the first time I've played it.
You gott give a point for King Deshret here. He realized his error and stood up to owning it to the point of sacrificing himself. That's a good king in my book.
I looove seeing genshin evolve with us players. Their animations for cutscenes and characters are getting better, their story and story telling is getting better(speculated to be because of new storyboard members at Hoyoverse), and their music, well...that was always amazing lol. NOw I hope they fix their exclusive character roster. And make Itto's muscles bigger hehe.
Story getting better was, in the case of Inazuma, not something to compliment them on, but something to be expected. You could’ve pulled over a random stranger from the streets and they could’ve pointed out the glaring faults it had, if not just outright done it better.
@@user-hv1tr9ok1i i didnt find any faults in the story. It s one of my fav archon quest and genshin s story was always amazing...inazumas story quest was for me better than liyue and mondstadt s quests

@@user-hv1tr9ok1i i do agree on teppei but disagree on everything else. To me it didnt feel rushed. 1:23 the details of those clawy monster-like hands is so good, it makes the scenery of the disaster looks so horrifying as if it tries to grasp any living beings and absorb all the life out of it
i was lowkey expecting the havria's follower type behavior from the leader of the eremites but, surprisingly, he was a lot more mature about it and took it like a champ... gotta respect that 😌👍
You don’t survive on harsh environments if you run around being irrational, he being level headed enough to go from “f the Dendro Archon” to “f the sages” is pretty much what I expected. This whole patch dealt a ton with the Akademia wisdom vs the sand folk wisdom and how the Akasha pretty much made generations of researches short sighted.
Kudos to all the people who made this story teaser come to life! The VA, the music, the art and animation, I have never been so immersed in a genshin story cutscene before.
Fun fact: There was a real king Deshret in Hindu mythology and if anyone wants to hear his tale I'm happy to share! Story: King Deshret was the king of Ayodhya in ancient India. When he was young, he went out to hunt one night and he waited near a river for prey. He heard the rustling of leaves and shot an arrow in the area. He thought he had hit an animal, but he heard the wailing of a man. He went over to the noise and saw that he had hit a young man. The young man was Shravan, a diligent boy who was taking his old and blind parents to places of pilgrimage. Shravan's parents were poor, hence they could not afford a carriage or horse to travel. They wished to visit places of pilgrimage with their son in their final days, so Shravan traveled with them and carried them in two baskets attached to a wooden rod on his shoulders. On the way, his parents had become thirsty so he had gone to fill a bucket of water from a river. But at the same time, King Deshret had thought he was an animal and shot him with an arrow. Shravan was close to death, and King Deshret was feeling sorry for what he had done and asked Shravan was he could do to ease the pain. Shravan told him his story, and begged Deshret to bring water to his parents. King Deshret carried out his final wish and brought water from the river to Shravan's parents. He explained to them what had happened and pleaded for forgiveness. Shravan's parents were enraged and full of grief, so they cursed Deshret that he would also die because of losing a son and died from grief that night. King Deshret did not think much of the curse as he was young and had no children at the time. A few years later, King Deshret had three wives. He owed 2 favors to one of his wives, Kaikeyi. She had demanded that his first wife Kaushalya's son Ram be sent into exile for 14 years and that her son Bharat be secured as the heir to the throne. King Deshret was hesitant but Kaikeyi insisted that she felt misfortune would befall her and that he still owed her two favors. He eventually had no choice and unwillingly sent Ram and his wife Sita into vanvas (exile in the forest) for 14 years. Ram's younger brother Lakshman had also insisted that he go with his brother. King Deshret fell into great depression as he had lost two sons. He died without any of his son's at his death bed. His eldest son Ram was an incarnation of Vishnu, the God of Protection. When his wife Sita was kidnapped, he defeated Ravan, the mighty demon king of Sri Lanka who had 10 heads while in exile with the help of his loyal follower Hanuman who was the Monkey God with great strength.
Genshin dropping important lore hints, this all just reinforces the idea that Paimon is of a greater suppressed power like we've been thinking. I remember when Inazuma was the most serious region, Sumeru just filled with backstory and life.
Yeah, I can't decide whether to think Paimon is a depowered god like Guoba and Kusanali or a weakened Seelie, since the Seelie used to have humanoid forms and their whole thing was giving guidance to humans, while Paimon claims to be the greatest _guide_ of Teyvat. Then again, it's implied that the Goddess of Flowers was a Seelie, so I guess Seelie can also be gods.
I've been loving this resistance plot, this was a great setup for the next act. Can't wait for 3.2, it's time to make the sages pay for what they've done.
Is it just me or Rukkhadevata's design hits u right in the female gaze aspect and I don't even know which part exactly? Im absolutely entranced by her image, her portayal in 2D has made me for the first time just want to pause and stare in awe. And story behind her sacrifice is so heartbreaking yet so amazing at portraying her love for people of Sumeru. 1000% my favorite Archon's Quest among all. (also i cant write in eng properly all i can do is become hearteyed emojy then i look at this cutscene) upd . Female gaze is a cinema term, basically a lot of focus on eyes & hands & emotions while portraying someone in cinema and media idk it just felt as fitting term for this image comparing it to the fact tham most of genshin cutcsenes are usually epic & action (which is still great i just wasnt expecting this cutcsene to be so emotional yet soft and atmospheric) i didn't mean to put it as a gender-thing and definitely didn't mean in bad way!
i mean, yeah. but not just in the female gaze. i think if i was a man i'd still pause and stare in awe, especially at the way they drew her dress like damn. everything in the cutscene had a very immersive, atmospheric feeling to it.
Yeeeeee Ik wachu meannnn :) She's so pretty and I was so glad that they finally uploaded this cut scene because... I didnt get time to watch the cut scene in full in game cuz I had subs on, but now being able to see her fully in all her glory is... Wow.
My interpretation: Lord Kusanali was never shown in this video. Think about it. This cutscene showed King Deshret, which perished for around 1000 years ago, while Lord Rukkhadevata "disappeared" 500 years ago, two events that happened 500 years apart. This meant that Lord Rukkhadevata might've shrunked her size not just once, but twice. First was 1000 years ago when she helped King Deshret, and 500 years ago during the cataclysm where she might've exhausted all her powers to protect Sumeru from the Abyss. And from how the Akasha Terminal works, Lord Rukkhadevata might've created it by the time she first shrunk 1000 years ago as a backup for her people to remember her as she was. Only then did this became a threat for Sumeru when she herself became a part of the forbidden knowledge, and thus needed to be erased from the minds of her people to cut off the same curse that caused the fall of King Deshret's civilization.
I think she only shrunk during cataclysm. The priest didn't specifically said the shrunking happened right after king deshret sacrifice 1000 years ago and how the priest said he has been guarding tower of life for a long time which was built during king deshret scarifice, u think the dude said peace out few years after creation of those towers? Either that or nahida did shrink 1000 years ago but removed everyone memories including herself about her during cataclysm so therefore the "World......forget me"
@@xeacarons it's confirmed that the words, "World. . . Forget me." was Lord Rukkhadevata's last words before her disappearance, not Lord Kusanali's (Nahida). The other reason why I pointed out the time when Lord Rukkhadevata might've invented the Akasha System was because this very own invention of hers-that was originally meant for the greater good of the people of Sumeru and their relationship with Lord Rukkhadevata-is now an obstacle that hinders the people's acceptance of Lord Kusanali as their new deity. My take is that something similar to Ei's friend, Mikoshi Chiyo, happened to Lord Rukkhadevata during the cataclysm from 500 years ago that made her corrupted. With this and the fact that Lord Rukkhadevata's consciousness is directly connected to the Irminsul Tree, she herself became a threat to the Irminsul Tree and the only way to eradicate her is for her people to forget her, one thing that is impossible for as long as the Akasha System exists. Hence, her final words, "World. . . Forget me."
Ya but you gotta remember that she was one of the Og gods who wiped out kanrieah. Looking at the hillichirls and other after mentioned things . She deserves what she got
@@glezard212except rukha is the only one among the seven who didn't going to khaenriah. She is instructed by celestia to guard irminsul when the seven and celestia destroy khaenriah.
@@glezard212 🤦♀The destruction of Khaen'riah was necessary. Celestia practically left khaen'riah alone for centuries until it contacted/opened abyss portal that endangered the entirety of teyvat and spilled forbidden knowledge. I can't grow tired of this cutscene.. I've watched it so many times now, it's just the visuals and music are so enchanting. I feel Hoyoverse is getting better with creating cutscenes and lore. I'm excited to delve further into the story of Sumeru-
This was such a great cutscene! The priest’s VA did a wonderful job narrating. I wonder if they’ll also upload Scaramouche’s cutscene because that one’s also great!
I really like the short part of the music when it says "Our embers were preserved in the Aaru village" And when it says "Children of the desert, cling no longer to past grievances, but hold tight to the memory of this act of benevolence".....goosebumps
The Sumeru archon quests are absolutely awesome! This is probably my favorite cutscene in the entire game besides the electro yaksha. The crescendo within the orchestral piece when it is revealed that Nahida is actually a child form of Rukkhadevata gave me chills
damn i really feel sad for rukadevata I HOPE WE GET KUSANALI JUSTICE IN 3.2 cuz girlie worked hard and the art the music the va of this cutscene just 💖
man i still love that last cutscene for for this act. i think some people forgot but the guy narrating king dehret and rukkhadevata is the last priest of King Deshret, Kasala. Alhaitham was translating it to the rest of the cast. which fun fact, he was able to do because when he was a student, he had a joint project with Kaveh to understand King Deshret's language and architecture. they both worked on it and both are able to read king deshret's ancient language, but since Alhaitham's darshan is Haravatat, basically the linguistics department, it's safe to say that it was his main responsibility to try and dechipher the language. which is so fcking awesome because it really puts into perspective how much Alhaitham was needed for us to complete Sumeru. We couldn't brute force our way and the akademiya were much stricter than the other nations in regards to letting traveler in as political power. Because in Sumeru, knowledge quite literally is power, so we needed someone who was actually smart and we got Alhaitham. He gave us a plan, he found the lady who heard screams in the desert, he led the way to the Elezar hospital and idenitfied the scholar, he solved the issue of the Akasha tracking them, he helped negotiate for Isak's grandpa, he translated the memories of Kasala the last Scarlet King preist, created the intricate plan using multiple diversions at once, and did this all with very low expectations and it was pretty fast in canon. Even in this cutscene, it's because Alhaitham was able to translate it that Rahman and his men finally stopped fighting for King Deshret because now they knew he was long dead and that Rukkhadevata was not an enemy. That in fact the three gods of Sumeru (King Deshret, Rukkhadevata, Nabu Malikata) were not only friends, but actively ruled Sumeru together and didn't fight against each other at all unlike others gods in the archon war. We could not have won them over if not for Alhaitham.
Mondstadt introduced what type of story you're entering. Liyue raises the stakes up drastically. Inazuma skyrockets through the story with hints and reveals of the lore. Sumeru makes the mysteries all the more entertaining to solve.
man these genshin quest stories are getting better and better ...i always feels like ,if only I could do this quest again for the first time 😊 absolute peace , such is the gift of these stories such is genshin benevolence
It is a bit complicated, but I think she exhausted her powers in two different moments; firts, when she is saving the people in this cutscene, and second when she fought in Khaenria'h. After khaenria'h, she was brought back by the sages whom disspointed, locked her down in her palace.
@@Intiinti8 Maybe, it is said that Khaenria'h's technology is powered by ley lines, so it is possible that the Scarlet king used it and, as colateral damage, that altered those ley lines and brought sickness and Illness over the land and people. During the quest it is said that Eleazar is caused by an overcharged of elemental energy in the host, which makes total sense with ley lines being altered; we can see in this cinematic too that the Eleazar appeared as a consecuence of that forbiden knowledge. This a personal theory, however I think it was that same knowledge what caused the illness what afflictes the Irminsul, which it is said to be connected to the ley lines.
@@Intiinti8 It is something from before sun and moon, from ancient civilizations, and Dainsleif in the chasm quests say that "ancient civilizations predate Khaenri'ah". So even though Khaenri'ah is hella old, Sol Vidagnyr, Enkanomiya, Chasm Civilization and King Deshret's Civilization, are ancient, older than Khaenri'ah. "Knowledge that does not belong to this world." It either be the knowledge of the truth, or something disturbing from the abyss. Or both. If the world of teyvat is a simulation forced upon the elemental realm, the truth, seeping into the leylines is the only thing that can break and dissolve the illusion, revealing the natural chaotic state of the world (humans not humans, but vishaps with scales, eleazar and the withering would be a state conflict between the true nature of the world and the illusion). A lot of things lately have been pointing that Celestia is an ark from outside, from the stars, made to preserve human legacy. And one thing is for sure, genshin exposes us to A TON of events, sometimes we get stuff about khaenri'ah and cataclysm, sometimes from way before then, and a lot of players confuses both, thinking that all there is to the past of the game is "the cataclysm" and that in our journey we are only going to know about khaenri'ah and the cataclysm. When in truth, we are going to know a ton more, and I'm pretty sure our journey doesnt end with Snezhnaya, it might actually... start there, when we learn the truth of cataclysm, and why Tsaritsa is doing what she is doing, and after that's out of the way, we'll have to learn about the origin of the world, older than the cataclysm by a lot. Maybe in the end, the abyss, corruption and all that, is just a conflict between the nature of reality, and the nature of the illusion, when both clashes, the "abyssal effects" that we know of, happen. Eleazar, Dark Mud, Withering, Corrosion, Abyssal Energy. And one thing to support that is what the abyssal electro guys say, "Hear the world of truth", maybe the truth indeed is poisonous, for it would unmake the illusion that is Teyvat, after all, the sky is a lie.
1:53 the priest said to eradicate forbidden knowledge, that forbidden knowledge is khaenriah so he actually mean to eradicate khaenriah. Her shrinking did not happen right after or along with the scarlet king sacrifice it happened so long after that the priest grew old enough to die.
At 0:07, it looks like King Deshret is crying. But what comes out of it is Forbidden Knowledge sourced from the Abyss, as he get such incomprehensible and corrupting power comes with a very destructive cost- namely Marana / Withering Zones. Once Irminsul remembered this calamity, it has to be erased completely in order to restore Teyvat. King Deshret couldn't overcome his grief after losing Nabu Malikata, the last surviving Seelie. He loved her, but she can't return it because of a curse that befell the entirety of all Seelie races.
Kasala’s voice actor had a matching tune with Blade from Honkai: Star Rail, but not that of Lyney from Genshin Impact. They were all voiced by Daman Mills, by the way!
This cutscene is so beautiful. From the narration, to the music, to the art, and the story of it. This Archon quest is the absolute best, the writing is miles better and it just keeps me engaged. I loved every second of it. I sure can't wait for 3.2!
EDIT: What we learned from this: - King Desheret accidentally brought the curse into Sumeru - Forbidden Knowledge may have come from Khaenriah or Celestia - Withering and Eleazar came from the Forbidden Knowledge - Rukkadevata IS Kusanali Remaining Questions: - How is this connected with Irminsul - How do we cure Irminsul - What is the connection of Dottore to Irminsul (burning of the tree) Another amazing archon story from HYV. Excited how the Sumeru Archon Storyline will end next patch.
Forbidden Knowledge didn't come from Khaenriah, case Scarlet King died thousends years ago. But it could be this knowledge is key to understanding of this world
This cinematic always hits me, i love the animation, the music, the voice actor effort, the story, and the epicness of King Deshret , Rukkhadevata and Kusanali sacrifice.
After the 3.2 Archon quest, i was at the virge of tears when Greater Lord Rukkhadevata said "Goodbye the people of Sumeru, may you be blessed tonight with the sweatest of dreams" and the "World forget me" one is just- ( I cried myself to sleep ) :)
The children choir singing somewhere around 0:24. It's beautiful yet mature for an animation. It's somewhat FMA-esque, which I really like. I'm glad I spent BP money for them. Genshin is such a marvelous casual game.
When this cinematic appeared in-game I was struck with awe, exploring the whole temple filled with sand and plants, and then reaching the priest final resting place, all leading to this moment. As always the visuals, music and narration were on point, thank you for making this game.
i remember watching this when it came out but i wasn't in sumeru at the time so i obviously didn't understand most of it, but man coming back here when i actually went through the archon quest, it was amazing. i think it's one of the most well spoken dialogue in the game. it's just so beautiful and expressed so eloquently. it's like that feeling of knowing when something feels powerful, but not being able to reproduce it yourself. i couldn't find any better way to express just how powerful this cutscene is. 1:24 man the reverse "cleansing" music they used here was absolutely breathtaking. not only is the animation extremely fluid, but the music matches it perfectly. it just gives me chills
Only came back to this video because of a certain important leak related to a Sumeru character, specially 1:30 till 2:17, i already have some theories..
Queen of flowers died. King deshret sacrificed himself. Queen of rainforests erased herself from the world of teyvat. They were all friends rulling over sumeru but now all of them are gone because of forbidden knowledge. At least nahida with us today😭. Anyway I hope there would be visuals of king deshret and GOF like how we got of giuzhong and cloud retainer in the latern rite event 😊
Watching this video, I tell myself that THIS TIME I WON'T CRY!!!! And still I have tears flowing, it's just something with something, it's so sad every time tears flow
THIS CUTSCENE WAS AMAZING!!!!!! I really enjoyed the music and the visuals!!!! The colours, animation and even the words that the priest used!!!!! Gave me goosebumps!!! I am really looking forward to see how this will end!!! So exciting! Keep it up hoyoverse!!!!!

You have recency bias mate.
Mondstadt's Venti, Diluc, Jean: "Excuse me??"
Liyue's Adepti, Ningguang, Keqing: "Excuse me??"
Inazuma's Yae Miko and Kazuha: "Excuse me??"

Yeah, it's possible
Open reply to see how people response to this ,
Just to see a fkin bots
Maybe she tried saving Khaenri’ah?
fck these bots
Anyway, that is possible if Paimon is one of the shades or Phanes itself in order to save its existence against the purging of Celestia to their civilization.
Maybe this is plausible 😅
For those still confused about Rukkhadevata and Kusanali connection after 3.2 Archon Quest. Imagine a Rose plant, suppose the plant is dying or corrupted, you simply take out a healthy rose branch/stem and then place it in another pot where it grows into a healthy plant again. Now it wouldn't matter even if the original plant died, since the cut off branch will still live on independently.
Great Analogy. Lesser Lord Kusanali approves it xD
perhaps the plant having a disease would be a better analogy, considering eleazar. since corruption makes me think of a hard drive lmao
yooo good analogy!
And it has the same characteristics as that rose, but it's not exactly like that rose, so the Karen that adores roses down the street took it and lock it in her car trunk
Edit: maybe it's better to say
The Karen wanted the first rose, found it after a hurricane but notice that it wasn't exactly the first rose, and since she already took it, might as well locked it in her basement

As an Indian, they messed up by calling her 'RukkhDEVTA' you see,
Rukkh-: tree/vegitation
Devta-: god (used in masculine sense to indicate male gods)
What they should have done is call her 'RukkhDEVI'
Devi-: godess ( used in feminine sense to indicate female divinity)
i find it confusing that the death of the scarlet king was happen before or during the cataclysm. I think what you say explains it. Where did you find that book by the way?
The way I understood it Kusanali and Rukkhadevata are indeed the same person but similiar to the way of the Aranara she has lost all of her memories in the process.
I am wondering if it had something to do with god of time. After all it was the god of time who helped ei plant the sakura tree in inazuma

Lets just say they really pulled out the honkai in this one...
i copied another person comment :
By doing so she exhausted all her powers to help the Scarlet King, and to provide the priest assurance that nothing bad will happen after they "rest in peace."
There are time skips between the original clip.
(Another nahida dialogue.)

Yeah finally someone who gets the story !
Since Nahida was first believed to be Rukkhadevata herself, maybe the child state look very similar to Nahida, so to avoid players being confused like the Sages were, they only show silhouette for Rukkhadevata's child form? lol
But that just sounds like Raiden's multiple-identical-appearance confusion all over again. Pretty annoying if they do that. It'd be better if they just go with what I said and Nahida is just Rukkhadevata with even less power and no memory.
And it would have been at least 10 times better if they shut up Paimon and let the traveler speak for himself.

Fun fact: There was a real king Deshret in Hindu mythology and if anyone wants to hear his tale I'm happy to share!
Story:
King Deshret was the king of Ayodhya in ancient India.

(also i cant write in eng properly all i can do is become hearteyed emojy then i look at this cutscene)
upd . Female gaze is a cinema term, basically a lot of focus on eyes & hands & emotions while portraying someone in cinema and media idk it just felt as fitting term for this image comparing it to the fact tham most of genshin cutcsenes are usually epic & action (which is still great i just wasnt expecting this cutcsene to be so emotional yet soft and atmospheric)
i didn't mean to put it as a gender-thing and definitely didn't mean in bad way!
Female gaze?
You mean beautiful?
Think that’s just you, but good for you
i mean, yeah. but not just in the female gaze. i think if i was a man i'd still pause and stare in awe, especially at the way they drew her dress like damn. everything in the cutscene had a very immersive, atmospheric feeling to it.
That's a really good take
Really interesting idea don't think she shrunk her size multiple time however
@@33melonpaws77 It's an especially good take considering she looks like a teen in a cutscene, not a small child like Nahida
Hence, her final words, "World. . . Forget me."
Rukkhadevata was too good for this world... She didn't deserved to be completely forgotten after everything she did to her people.
And she was actually not one of the gods that went to khaen'riah. she stayed behind to protect irminsul. if irminsul dies, its game over for teyvat. she is arguably the most important archon in teyvats history.
@@glezard212she didn't attack Khaenri'ah, she guarded the Irminsul... once the Cataclysm destroyed Irminsul...whole Teyvat is over

I can't grow tired of this cutscene.. I've watched it so many times now, it's just the visuals and music are so enchanting. I feel Hoyoverse is getting better with creating cutscenes and lore. I'm excited to delve further into the story of Sumeru-
This is such a beautiful cutscene! The art, animation and music are just gorgeous. Can't stop watching it over and over again.
man the animation in this scene was amazing. Sumeru so far has been a delight
This was such a great cutscene! The priest’s VA did a wonderful job narrating. I wonder if they’ll also upload Scaramouche’s cutscene because that one’s also great!
I just found out kasala has the same va as lyney and blade from star rail 🤯
I really like the short part of the music when it says "Our embers were preserved in the Aaru village"
And when it says "Children of the desert, cling no longer to past grievances, but hold tight to the memory of this act of benevolence".....goosebumps
The Sumeru archon quests are absolutely awesome! This is probably my favorite cutscene in the entire game besides the electro yaksha. The crescendo within the orchestral piece when it is revealed that Nahida is actually a child form of Rukkhadevata gave me chills

mmmmm
just come back here to remind myself that I still remembered the right person
man i still love that last cutscene for for this act. i think some people forgot but the guy narrating king dehret and rukkhadevata is the last priest of King Deshret, Kasala.
The cutscene gave me goosebumps⭐

man these genshin quest stories are getting better and better ...i always feels like ,if only I could do this quest again for the first time 😊 absolute peace , such is the gift of these stories such is genshin benevolence
It is a bit complicated, but I think she exhausted her powers in two different moments; firts, when she is saving the people in this cutscene, and second when she fought in Khaenria'h. After khaenria'h, she was brought back by the sages whom disspointed, locked her down in her palace.
I think that the forbidden knowledge is somehow related to Khaenri'ah
"Knowledge that does not belong to this world."
It either be the knowledge of the truth, or something disturbing from the abyss.
My favourite cutscene in genshin so far
I love how Genshin posts all these animation teasers online, the art style is so beautiful and its so amazing to revisit them
At 0:07, it looks like King Deshret is crying.
DAMAN MILLS VOICED KASALA TOO
And Blade
Hd voiced only hot mans.
What a legend
"Children of the desert, cling no longer to past grievances. But hold tight to the memory of this act of benevolence" really hits hard

The animation at 1:50 is crazy good
EDIT:
What we learned from this:
- King Desheret accidentally brought the curse into Sumeru
- Forbidden Knowledge may have come from Khaenriah or Celestia
- Withering and Eleazar came from the Forbidden Knowledge
- Rukkadevata IS Kusanali
Remaining Questions:
- How is this connected with Irminsul
- How do we cure Irminsul
- What is the connection of Dottore to Irminsul (burning of the tree)

The animation where Rukkhadevata turned into Kusanali was top tier. Well done hoyoverse! ✨
