Getting ready for Christmas … Advent wreaths - Südtirol/Alto Adige

What are the colors of Christmas in South Tyrol? In addition to snow, playing, light and woodland branches, Christmas in South Tyrol also has the colors of the Advent wreath. The traditional wreath made of evergreens and candles graces every house in South Tyrol. A candle is lit (four in all) on every Sunday of Advent, counting down the days until Christmas Eve. Here’s how to make an advent wreath.
Materials:
• 1 grapevine ring (40 cm in diameter)
• Pine or fir sprigs
• Wire
• Pincers
• 4 candles
• Decorations (orange slices, cinnamon, ribbon, straw stars, pinecones etc.)
Procedure:
1. Cut the conifer sprigs.
2. Wrap them around the grapevine ring.
3. Using the wire, secure the candles to the base of the ring.
4. Decorate the wreath as you like.
