Could the dying issue be the fuel slosh in the bowls and you need the extended pickup tubes and modified floats ? Ive seen it on drag cars when it all shoots to the back of the bowl and was wondering if it would do the same if it sloshed all to one side?

    • @venom_motoring

My guess would be fuel splashing out of the vent tubes down the bore of the carb and flooding the engine. Might just need to hook a piece of hose to the vent tubes with a hole cut near the top.

Normally a dual feed style carb like this one is pretty resilient to that problem, but it’s definitely possible. The carb just didn’t seem dialed in to me in general. Accelerator pump was definitely lean, idle was too low for the cam, and it seemed rich on the jetting. Ya know, fresh build quirks… But it’s just as likely that the timing isn’t right too, a motor like this will probably want some stop bushings in the distributor to get the initial timing higher. Timing will definitely do stuff like this for sure too, not just fuel

Please don't edit videos on a pair of earbuds. The ad at the beginning makes it seem like you might. It is bad for your ears and the sound quality from them isn't as good as actual monitoring/mastering headphones. I also find good headphones way more comfortable than earbuds. If you need to block out some noise use something like the dt 700 series from Beyerdynamic or a similar model from Sennheiser. It will be a lot more comfortable and you will be able to make the sound better. They're also quite cheap for what they offer.

What is it about Mopars and carburetor fires?😂 I had a Plymouth wagon with a 383, and I think I spent more time putting out carburetor fires than I did driving that sled!!🤣 That little 360 sounds pretty healthy, but you definitely need a drivers side cage in that short wheelbase S.O.B. in case it decides to flip the shiny side down.😬 With a high stall converter and a good fuel pressure regulator to keep the carb from puking all over, that thing should clear right out and rev to the moon! What a fun little project car!👍 *EDIT:* The hose trick between the vent tubes, that several others mentioned, is a good idea also. About a 3/16" hole in the top of the arch is usually sufficient to equalize the pressure and keep the gas INSIDE the bowls.😉
