- Hi everyone!! My name is Amy and I'm a biology major student at Stony Brook University. I tried to capture most of the walking because I wanted to give people a view of the campus. Unfortunately, my second semester was cut short due to the corona virus. Filmed this before we were all kicked out of our dorms :( Hope you guys enjoyed this video! Great job. Just showed this to my middle school students, I graduated from SBU in 2007. My students loved watching it and now they all want to go to Stony Brook. They were really impressed by the food, lol.

I graduated from Stony in Dec 2018 (way before Covid started) I may return to Stony one day to do a grad program. thanks though it was nice to see Stony from another student's perspective. I wish you luck in your upcoming semesters at Stony.
So nostalgic. I graduated from Stony many moons ago. H Quad for 2 years, and Roth Quad for last 2. Rarely ventured to Kelly but had some friends there. People on the first floor used to love leaving those balcony doors unlocked, and there would constantly be people climbing in and stealing things back then.

Crazycrafting I’ll say it’s about a 7. But right now my bio 202 professor is giving us harder quizzes because of the potential cheating after classes are held online. So I don’t really know how hard it is normally

Mari indigo It depends on whether you’re placed in a suite style or corridor style quad. You’ll have the opportunity to rank your choices and it’ll be up to chance which one you’re assigned.

Yep! There are plenty of events on campus and you can find them all on the corq app :)
how much walking would you say there is from class to class or dorm to class or to dining halls?
It really depends on where you dorm but it’s not a long walk (~10-15 minutes from Kelly to SAC). There are also buses on campus that makes the commute way faster too.

How are classes like? For example, how many classes a week & til what time? Could you give me an estimate. Thanks!
Jennifer Sherpa It really depends on how you set up your schedule but there’s like about 2-3 classes per day (sometimes 4). The earliest classes are at 8:30am in the morning and the latest could be 7-8pm I believe.

Not sure bc I haven’t been making reservations to go to the gym. You’re able to just go straight in as long as you have the RecOnTheGo app. Is that what you’re talking about?

Dance page DD KAZZI I’m a freshman. To increase your chances of being placed into a suite, you can just rank the suite style quads as your highest options when you are asked to choose.

Is it hard to get adjusted with the size of the campus? How long does it take for you to know your way around well?
It’s actually not as intimidating as it sounds once you get used to where everything is. It took me about 2-3 days to feel comfortable walking from my dorm to where my classes are. On your free time you can always explore the campus with your friends :)

Literally the most boring school on the planet, in the middle of nowhere. It just has stellar education programs. But everyone I talked to that said they go there said they hated it.
I kinda like the peacefulness of it, and it isn't really the middle of nowhere lol. You're still 1.5-2 hours from Manhattan by train. Also there's tons of free events going on, you just have to look on the app they have for it. Really, for what you pay, it's a pretty good value compared to many other schools.
