I just had the most beautiful owl (pretty sure it was an SEO) fly over and hover over me on today’s fell run. Literally 5 ft over my head and just looking at me?! It flew off when I grabbed my phone - thinking I’d blown it I ran on. 2 minutes later it was back over me and again just above my head. I stopped and we just looked at each other for maybe 20 seconds, it kept tilting its head as it looked directly into my eyes. It was so magical, it took my breath away. 😊 It’s the third owl I’ve seen whilst running here. I’m pretty sure the other two were a Barn Owl and a LEO. After hearing that people poison and kill them for hunting grouse I know to now keep the location a secret (North Peak District is all I’ll say). Thank God you shared this knowledge and last but not least ... your photography is beautiful. 😁Thank you for sharing.

Oh this was absolutely wonderful! Love SEOs. I live on the south coast and we get them as occasional winter visitors. A couple of years ago I managed to get some video and photos. Not as good as yours though!! ;)

That's incredible, amazing coincidence as I happened to be stood in that same gateway last night...I been traveling to work in that area of the Peak District recently and thought I spotted a SEO a few days ago. A trip out there last night rewarded me with some nice photo's.
Great channel...subscribed after selecting this vid at random to learn more about SEO's...and the location will remain secret with me too, even though a few shots I captured included a Shortie perched on top of a road sign post, clearly revealing it's location!!

I've never heard of Raptor Persecution. That's insane to me & Id be saying/doing the same as you did 🤬😂! I'm from Hawai'i & here we have an endemic subspecies of SEOs (we call them: Pueo), they're considered Aumakua (spirit guardians) & sacred. It's extremely "bad luck" to kill/injure them & as a endemic Hawaiian species, they are protected here.

I hate the thought of any birds of prey being killed by the shooting fraternity but grouse are not reared for shooting they are all wild grouse.

Red Grouse are not reared, they are wild. Get you facts straight. ‘Red Grouse Lagopus lagopus scoticus is found only in Britain and Ireland, and is at present regarded by most as a subspecies of Willow Grouse, which is found elsewhere in Europe, Asia and North America’.

I have seen a barn owl and tawny owl.
Right now, I’m trying to find suitable place to see a little owl.
