Like Hoskins said after the park was destroyed in Jurassic World, "Someone has to make sure this company has a future". This might explain why cloning and dinosaur experiments continued on Isla Sorna after the fall of the original park in 1993.
I know in the lost world Hammond talked about how some in Ingen wanted him gone. So maybe those individuals kept operations going on Sorna until the hurricane hit and it became too dangerous to stay. My opinion. I know I’d like the JP/JW franchise to do a what if series like Marvel. Show what if the original Park succeeded or if Jurassic Park San Diego took off without interference from the gatherer group. Cool concepts that would expand the universe.
Just off the top of my head I'm thinking that while Hammond himself after the events of JP1 was quite adamant about wanting to stop all of their dinosaur activities, I'm sure there were a lot of other minds in the company and not least on the board of directors that thought he was out of his mind for wanting to completely scrap something that they've invested so much time and money in. Remember, they hadn't been on the island and experienced what Hammond had experienced. Even Hammond himself before the events of JP1 was aware of numerous accidents and risks concerning the park, but remained convinced that it was worth pursuing. In Crichton's book it is even explained that Hammond procured funding for the park from a fair number of investors, so there would be a lot of people interested in and possibly even demanding to see returns on those investments. I think it's perfectly plausible that the company would try to continue with the operations behind Hammond's back.
This scenario would be ideal for a survival horror game, filling in blanks while navigating Isla Sorna and evading dinosaurs. Imagine eluding raptors while the wind gets ever stronger and rain lashes the ground, windows and buildings in a rock and a hard place scenario.

This. I enjoyed the idea of "well-intentioned people make mistakes" a LOT more than "evil megalomaniacs want to breed genetic mutants and use them for war or sell them on the black market in some dude's basement after smothering him with a pillow".
My theory is that after the park failed, Ingen desperately tried to find another use for the embryos to gain as much money as possible before going bankrupt. They could have used the animals as test subjects for medicine or maybe they tried to sell their organs idk.
It would be pointless, They picked it clean when they rebuilt Nublar, It's JW1 canon, The remaining living dinos from B were transported Nublar to fill the park in the early days
Great video about the Mystery of Isla Sorna in the Jurassic Series and that’s how The Lost World Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III takes place in Isla Sorna. Great video Klayton Fioriti and as always, Take It Easy and Life Finds A Way.
This sounds to me like fertile ground for a live action series. I absolutely love Camp Cretaceous and Battle at Big Rock was an incredible showcase of what more bitesized JP content has to offer. I would LOVE to see them meet fans halfway and make a live-action TV show covering the Fall of Isla Sorna. I want to see what Ingen was up to before the hurricane and what kind of hell was unleashed immediately after it made landfall. I doubt all the destruction in the worker village was the product of weather alone. It would be a great chance to showcase certain dinosaurs that we've haven't gotten to see in any of the movies like the Metri and Sucho. It would also be a great chance to fix some of JP3 missteps, like maybe have an Easter Egg of a Sorna Employee talking on the phone with a Mr. Grant, arguing about Raptors or maybe have someone mention that in order to avoid being sued by the experts who survived the Nublar incident that they settled on sending over the data they gathered from the animals on Sorna. I personally can't imagine that even after what happened on Nublar Dr. Grant would throw away the opportunity of using Ingen's knowledge of live Dinosaurs to further his own understanding and professional curiosity. The Grant we see in JP3 is bitter and angry, but I'd like to think that some lingering awe remained at least for the first few years after what happened on Jurassic Park. Ingen clearly had info on the animals. In TLW they had an entire pamphlet for the benefit of their hunter team, so why couldn't something similar have been made to appease Grant?
In the lost world, Hammond mentioned that there were those in the company who wanted to use site b to bail them out after the fall of Jurassic park. Those people probably continued working in secret to get the park up and running while they convinced the rest of the company. However, they stopped when the hurricane released the Dino’s and forced an evac. So hammond’s son (the main guy who wanted to use site B) decided to capture the Dino’s and bring them to San Diego as a plan B.

6:53 this question of why Ingen would continue to clone dinos after the park failed has been one of those questions that keep me awake at night. I want to believe that Ingen had sinister motives for the dinos. Like doing illegal experiments on them, selling them on the black market or trying to create the perfect bio weapons. It’s all so compelling and I wish we had more information.

My bet is they were trying to perfect the cloning process, and possibly trying to develope bioengineered dino weapons. Remember in Jurassic World, how Vic Hoskins was so insistent on trying to field test the Raptors for military usage? Later on, it was revealed that remnants of N-Gen were still pulling strings behind the scenes (which led into Fallen Kingdom). They could have been doing this even back when Hammond was in charge. Heck, Simon Masrani didn't even know half of what was going on in the labs or what they were putting into his dinosaurs. FURTHERMORE, John Hammond's own nephew, Peter Ludlow wasn't afraid of going behind John's back (as well as the other shareholders of N-Gen). Who's to say that they weren't already considering using dinos as bioweapons? N-Gen could have returned between the events of The Lost World and JP3, off the books to try and clone and create new dino breeds for testing. This could also explain why Wu was responsible for the Spino that was cloned. They might have thought it would be a great base to build a bioengineered super-dino. Once the island was found out (shortly before JP3), it had to be left abandoned once again to avoid exposing N-Gen's presence. I've got a feeling that there were many things going on behind the scenes that Hammond had no idea about (Just as Masroni didn't know about Vic's agenda), or Hammond could have been blinded by childhood wonder at creating living dinosaurs to notice the obvious signs... And I got a funny feeling that BioSyn was mixed up with it as well (at least after the events of The Lost World). The plot thickens...
I always wanted know more about Site B. Especially more info about how and why they were still making dinosaurs on isla sorna after the events of isla nublar incident.
I always assumed it was the same storm that hit Nublar. As far as I know, old scripts are only good for what ifs, and not actual canon. I really love all the mystery surrounding Sorna, though. Sorna was always my favourite island since The Lost World. It just felt more wild and mysterious.
I really wanna know how Dr. Wu got so evil. I mean he was just a side character with a meer like 1 minute of run time in the first film but in jurassic world and fallen kingdom, he is the worst guy ever! Maybe he started his life of shadyness long before 2015. As Grant so rightly put about Ingen in JP3: "Makes ya wander what else they've been up to..."
I'd like to see more focus on the facilities and infrastructure of Site B. Since there were few to no main fences save around the compounds, the day to day workings, how many staff were needed and the logistical situation of the island fascinate me far more than the dinosaurs themselves do.
They were making dinosaurs in order to sell as weapons. Or at least the beginnings of it. I feel the last Jurassic world movie is a good example of what was happening on that island.
Based on one of your previous videos, could the lab be hybrid research that Hammond wasn’t aware of? Maybe Wu or someone using the cover of abandonment after Clarissa to have access to the facility and genetic material before something went very, very wrong.
You sir are a legend in the JP Franchise. I learned so much about JP lore just by watching your vids! Heck, I didn't even cared about anything other than dinosaurs in Jurassic Park/World before I discovered your channel.
I agree... I had always assumed that the storm that closed down Jurassic Park was the same one that closed down Site B. But if InGen was still working there... maybe it was for the San Diego park? To make new, young dinosaurs to start that park off with but then the storm took out Site B, so the plan to capture existing dinosaurs was thought up. Its very interesting to think about.
awesome, i didnt know that the two storms were different ones, i always just figured the makers messed up the numbers or they made the characters use rounded numbers or something. like maybe hammond goes to the digging site in september 93, but the whole inspection only starts in december and they leave the island in january 94. then you add another 2 and a half years and you're almost around 97, which is when jp2 starts.
@Klayton Fioriti they were probably still cloning various dinosaurs just in case the park were to probably be opened on the mainland like it was originally going to be. Which is also a main plot point in “the lost world” also it’s quite possible that they were trying to take control of thrill and again by catching the more “dangerous” animals.
Isla sorna could try to return in Jurassic world dominion or in a future Jurassic story, if they try to continue explaining more about the events of the Jurassic park franchise.
I like to think some scientists from Ingen went rogue and kept cloning despite Hammond stopping production I mean we all know Wu went mad knowing he could break the boundaries of nature, so who can say other's didn't as well
It also begs the question about what did Hammond know about what was happening on Site B after 1993? Did someone(s) within Ingen keep working on Site B in secret from Hammond and the rest of the board, then abandon it themselves by 1995?
Jurassic park and Jurassic world isn’t supposed to be scary, but you make it possible and mysterious, I love it, I remember watching your video about a missing person in the Jurassic park game and it creeped me out and made me want to stop watching due to you making a movie about dinosaurs scary, your great!
According to the 2nd film, Hammond had been protecting sorna from outside interference for “four years” placing the destruction of site B in 1993. He also states that “after the incident in the park, hurricane Clarissa wiped out our facilities on site b.” They way this dialogue is structured is to indicate that site B was abandoned shortly after the original film
I feel it’s pretty clear that InGen was planning to open the park even without Hammond’s approval. A massive corporation doesn’t just give up because the boss says to stop. It’s an organism without morals, and will seek food, in other words profit, at any expense.
@@theeternal1766 nah. If you read the books, it's quite clear what the other Islands are (the 5 deaths) if they make up a siste C, it would be cheezy as hell and retcon everything. Two Islands are enough, and crichton did a Great Job explaining the prosess on both Islands without it being cheezy
As an all time Jurassic Park universe fan and someone who admires lore building, it's great to see these topics brought up for debate. It is fun to think about this stuff and imagine what happens and how it all fits together in the timeline. It's probably all the above scenarios of continuing care and categorizing the dinosaurs still alive after the abandonment of Site B. Perhaps Ludlow tried to do some early attempts at recovering some live species or the embryos that are still stored away before they go bad. They probably also went back to retrieve any data they would not want anyone outside of Ingen to know about.
Nooo I forgot to comment!! Lol, anyway I really hope we see Isla Sorna at least one more time in Dominion, and maybe the baby T. rex is all grown up and has its own family, hopefully, great vid and you made my day!!!

Since we know they aren't done with jurassic park content after dominion comes out. I can see the possibility of a mini series coming out that will explain/expand the lore of sorna
I really want to see a prequel comic book or TV series that shows us what happened to the staff, the dinosaurs, and where the Spinosaurus really came from.
Oooooh that’s a beautiful Spino intro animation. Low res enough to give me nostalgia, but with enough fine detail to look realistic. I like the idea that whatever cell of InGen went on to clone off the book stuff like the Spino had more power and influence than we’re led to believe. After it becomes clear that the parks weren’t going to open, the higher ups went into triage mode. One part was capturing Dinos for a mainland park (Lost World), another was “abandoning” site B. Maybe the hurricane was just an excuse, so the company could plausibly claim that operations had ceased at site B, while a small team starting illegal cloning there before the clock ran out.
When I first read The Lost World and learned that the actual development of the dinosaurs occurred on Site B it made me go back to the first story and wonder how much of Hammond's presentation was purely for the benefit of his guests that weekend. I doubt there would've been a live hatching on Isla Nublar had there not been a paleontologist, a paleobotanist, a lawyer and a "rock star" present to hopefully endorse the park.
Honestly I believe that the crew left on Sorna weren’t known to Hammond. He had a change of heart, but no one else did. His investors, COO, and anyone else at the top of the InGen food chain wouldn’t be happy just leaving millions of dollars in research to expire. They probably told Hammond that they stopped production and were just observing or something to that effect. They were lying to him so they could reorganize and try to get back on their feet. The hurricane came through, forced them to leave for real, and the plans were more or less abandoned as the company bled too much money to recover. Just an idea. The corporate world has always been one of backstabbing and lies anyway. Not too much of a stretch I’d say
Ingen could have been doing work on Sorna without Hammond's authorization or knowledge in an attempt to save the company (eventually comes out when clarissa wipes it out). the company has been shown to be proactive against hammond's wishes for profit before....or i guess after....
This is why we NEED a prequel series about the fall of the compound. I wanna see the whole island, their research observations, the secret projects going on the island, and finally the horror part when the compound fails and the scientists and their lab techs have to try to escape
my dream JP movie or live action series, is following members of the InGen staff on Site B that decide to remain on the island during the hurricane and its aftermath and attempt in vain to keep together the island in a functioning order with a skeleton crew and failing systems.
Amazing video as always, Klayton!! We may going to see Isla Sorna in JW: Dominion!! "I agree with you everything in the video." The answer is we going to see prequel movies behind, "what happen after JP and into the story in Site B cloning more dinosaurs between Lost World and mystery in JP 3, also factor into hurricane in it." WE TO SEE THE FUTURE IF THEY GOING TO DO THAT. TO BE CONTINUED....
Would definitely be fun to see a movie about this. Have a few staff miss the boat and get left to fend for themselves where there's very little shelter thanks to the Hurricane and the Chaos of the Dinos being released.
Personally, I like to think that even In Gen didn't know what was going on. The whole company must have been in panic mode at that time, between financial losses, screwed up timetables, scientists with budding god-complexes seeing their life work being destroyed. One could easily see these 2 years being seed bed for most of the shady sh*t that goes on later in the franchise. Elements of the company going rogue, Hammond could have lost control of the company as early as the events of first film, there might have been an atmosphere of do whatever it takes going around, especially among those who were particularly invested. Hell, it would explain In Gen's shift from neutral to evil in demeaner.
I always assumed the "still cloning" thing was due to InGen having spent heck knows how much on RnD and wanting to continue down that line as it COULD be a massive money maker. And that despite what happened to the park, it was only Hammond that wanted to not have another one. While the rest of the company/shareholders did. Or Hammond just wanted to bring them back and have them around in more of a "natural wildlife research only" kind of way.
Theory: Biosyn had history with Nedry. He had access to the computer systems at Nublar, and was able to hand off info to Dodson or someone else. Biosyn goes to Sorna and tenkers and makes illegal clones to see if they reversed engineered spino and friends before restrictions were placed on the island at/during JP3. Biosyn had a hand with the fall of Jurassic World and needed that to destroy InGen to move forward. This leads us to Jurassic World 3. Curtains open, and the story continues there...
My guess is that the little passage from The Lost World that Hammond reveals to Malcolm “The dinosaurs were left to mature on their own” had a lot to do with why Ingen’s scientists decided to stay behind on Isla Sorna. You can’t just let a bunch of hatchlings out of their cages and expect them to form their own social hierarchy on the island. So when Ingen folded as a company and went into Chapter 11 in 1993, some of their geneticists had to remain on Sorna to make sure that all of the little baby dinosaurs could still be released into the wild when they were older juveniles and could fend for themselves. Hurricane Clarissa probably just expedited the process, forcing all of the scientists to evacuate the island ahead of schedule, but they were probably there to care for the animals as long as they could. I also personally prescribe to the theory that the dinosaurs on Sorna are slightly younger than their cousins on Nublar. Because just from a logistical perspective, the hatcheries on Isla Sorna function very much like a manufacturing facility at GM motors or at Apple or what have you. And typically manufacturers will release their products in batches or waves to keep things from bottlenecking at the factory level. It keeps things on an even keel throughout the whole process. So with that birds eye view of what Ingen was doing, is that the dinosaurs on Nublar were bred on Sorna first and then were shipped to Nublar to be a part of their premier tourist attraction. The dinosaurs we see in The Lost World were a part of that second batch and are clearly sexually mature if not entirely full grown
Hammond also said there were dozens of species on Site B. Dozens? Like those that Hammond never knew about while knowing about Brachiosaurus, velociraptor, T-rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Parasaurolophus, Maiasaura, & pteranodon?

Klayton you always seem to find the thought in the back of my head. You are great for helping filling the gap of the movie as always I enjoy!
That is so Awesome!
Klayton is a super great youtuber that he needs to be in a youtube rewind sometime in the future
Great video man love it
Isla sorna could try to return in Jurassic world dominion or in a future Jurassic story, if they try to continue explaining more about the events of the Jurassic park franchise.
Thanks again Klayton, your efforts are much appreciated
Man these videos make the Jurassic Park franchise so immersive, I love it ❤️ so glad you do these
I like to think some scientists from Ingen went rogue and kept cloning despite Hammond stopping production
I mean we all know Wu went mad knowing he could break the boundaries of nature, so who can say other's didn't as well
It also begs the question about what did Hammond know about what was happening on Site B after 1993? Did someone(s) within Ingen keep working on Site B in secret from Hammond and the rest of the board, then abandon it themselves by 1995?
Since the spino was most likely created in the late 1990's, I'll say 1998 or 1999.
Jurassic park and Jurassic world isn’t supposed to be scary, but you make it possible and mysterious, I love it, I remember watching your video about a missing person in the Jurassic park game and it creeped me out and made me want to stop watching due to you making a movie about dinosaurs scary, your great!
Perfect example of why I am a huge fan of this channel.
A video about Isla Sorna NICE it's good to know it hasn't been forgotten.
I feel it’s pretty clear that InGen was planning to open the park even without Hammond’s approval. A massive corporation doesn’t just give up because the boss says to stop. It’s an organism without morals, and will seek food, in other words profit, at any expense.
I wonder what John Hammond did with the others island’s or if he even used them
@@theeternal1766 nah. If you read the books, it's quite clear what the other Islands are (the 5 deaths) if they make up a siste C, it would be cheezy as hell and retcon everything. Two Islands are enough, and crichton did a Great Job explaining the prosess on both Islands without it being cheezy
@@theeternal1766 personally I liked to think the other islands housed different species of dinos which Wu and Hammond kept as backup
thank you so much for making these sorna videos im so fascinated about the mysteries of sorna
I find the most interesting videos when im bored, love these. Found them an been watching for a bit
Been waiting for you to cover this for some time now.
These animations are getting better and better
As an all time Jurassic Park universe fan and someone who admires lore building, it's great to see these topics brought up for debate. It is fun to think about this stuff and imagine what happens and how it all fits together in the timeline. It's probably all the above scenarios of continuing care and categorizing the dinosaurs still alive after the abandonment of Site B. Perhaps Ludlow tried to do some early attempts at recovering some live species or the embryos that are still stored away before they go bad. They probably also went back to retrieve any data they would not want anyone outside of Ingen to know about.
I had always assumed that Sorna fell at around the same time as JP, then InGen came back to try and salvage things
Nooo I forgot to comment!! Lol, anyway I really hope we see Isla Sorna at least one more time in Dominion, and maybe the baby T. rex is all grown up and has its own family, hopefully, great vid and you made my day!!!
damn i didnt know there was a second storm and i^ve been a big fan since 97 when i was allowed to watch jp1. i wasnt even 5, so you can imagine i crapped my pants.
aynway, great vid as always, love your content, keep it up
Showing LOVE for my absolute FAVORITE CHANNEL PERIOD mr Klayton Fioriti channel thank you for your love for our Love anything JURASSIC hope you and your family had a great holiday and may we all have a blessed year. Thank You and have a blessed day
Since we know they aren't done with jurassic park content after dominion comes out.
Isn't Klayton just the best at JP/W theroies?
Best Dino/JP Channel on yt imo
Let get 400k subs this year Klayton
Man I love your videos, I'm a big fan of The Lost world,... And anything JP
good vid, keep up the good work, Klayton
Ingen could have been doing work on Sorna without Hammond's authorization or knowledge in an attempt to save the company (eventually comes out when clarissa wipes it out). the company has been shown to be proactive against hammond's wishes for profit before....or i guess after....
great great great video!! thanks for sharing all that info!!
You are awesome for digging so deep.
5:05, they probably were doing illegal cloning 2 years before The Lost World.
Thanks for sharing 🔥 really appreciate your content Klayton Fioriti
Amazing video as always, Klayton!! We may going to see Isla Sorna in JW: Dominion!! "I agree with you everything in the video."
The answer is we going to see prequel movies behind, "what happen after JP and into the story in Site B cloning more dinosaurs between Lost World and mystery in JP 3, also factor into hurricane in it." WE TO SEE THE FUTURE IF THEY GOING TO DO THAT.
TO BE CONTINUED....
I've been asking for this video for 2 years. Would love to see a flashback in the upcoming movie featuring the evacuation.
Would definitely be fun to see a movie about this. Have a few staff miss the boat and get left to fend for themselves where there's very little shelter thanks to the Hurricane and the Chaos of the Dinos being released.
WOW This really is confusing, thanks Klayton for explaining
Site B has always been a weird anomaly, even somewhat in the books. I do hope those Chameleon Carnos appear in the movies' canon at some point
Listening to these videos amount of facts and details I feel like I've never seen the movies
I really hope we get to see an onscreen sendoff for site B. Or have a good sequence in site B or something
Thank God for Site B...
Site...B?
"Jurassic park: the fall of isla sorna" would be good as a series or something
