If you want to get that true feeling, the best place I recommend is to visit Ruwanweli Maha Seya in Anuradhapura. It’s an ancient Stupa. The relaxing feeling it gives is amazing which cannot be described in words. Make sure you go there either early morning or in the evening to get the best experience as those stones which laid around the stupa is getting quite hot in the day time making it difficult to walk.

"definitely guys Sri Lanka is clearly clearly worth visiting" - these words have so much power.
Buddhism is the teaching of serenity and peace. You need not to become a monk to attain Nirvana. Going on 'Noble eightfold path' leads you to attain the bliss of Nirvana.

Budhisum isn't a religion. It's a philosophy. Lord Buddha has shown everyone the real way of life, and how to end this cycle of life. By attaining nirvana.
In Srilanka we drink lots of plain tea.
Mean without milk. Also we drink tea ,that mean with milk. If you really needed to taste tea always better having it plain . Indian chai you don't get the taste of tea but the taste of cardamon, clove or ginger. .
Srilanka has lot to offer .many historical sites, ancient cities, plenty of waterfalls, temples, 26 national parks with whild life. Elephants in plenty, sun sea and beautiful beaches, different climatic conditions can be expireance just a matter of few hours. Delicious cuisine, and clean cities with friendly people.
Keep enjoying and exploring this beautiful paradise.
    Love from Srilanka

You don't have to be a monk to realize nibbana, it's totally possible as a regular lay person. You have to be honest to yourself following the path and be consistent. You'll achieve the ultimate happiness and experience nibbana.

    Some facts about Buddhism:
    1. Buddhism originated in Ancient India.
    2. Buddhism has 2 sects:- Theravada and Mahayana. Theravada is practiced in Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand. Mahayana is practiced in Japan, China, Mongolia,Korea, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
    3. According to Buddhism one has to attain Buddhahood or Boddhisattva to be a Buddha. There are a total of 29 Buddhas according to Buddhism. But only 3 are Important- Dipankara(My first name has Buddhist origin), Gauthama(Siddharth Gautham),Mettheya.
    4. Siddharth Gautam is the 28th Buddha and the current one. Mettheya will be the next Buddha. Dipankara is the Buddha of the past.
    5. Bodhgaya holds the same significance as Mecca and Medina for Muslims. Yearly huge donations are sent from Japan, China, Korea to maintain it.

Sri Lankan here. If you are doing an extended visit, don't be afraid to go off the beaten path. There are so many things to see in this country that you will think it's not a small country at all. The political troubles are just a part of life here, but we love tourists and we especially love it when they are open to experience the country without pre-judgement.
Just a little bit of advice, though: If you are getting a guide anywhere, make sure they are certified guides. Like in any country, there are scammers around and it's not 100% safe. Having said that, most people are hospitable and will go above and beyond to help you.
Oh, One more thing if it has not been pointed out to you. Sri Lankans don't generally speak Hindi. Some of them understand it because it's a derivative of Sanskrit (much like Sinhalese, the majority language over here), and are being polite. Most people will understand English, especially in the cities, and you might be surprised that some shopkeepers in the touristy areas speak German, Russian, Italian, Swedish and other languages.
Hope you have a wonderful time here and hope you make a lot of life-long friendships.

Nirvana, the state to which all Buddhists aspire, is the cessation of desire and hence the end of suffering. Nirvana in Sanskrit means "the blowing out." It is understood as the extinguishment of the flame of personal desire, the quenching of the fire of life. Among Westerners Nirvana is often thought of as a negative state, a kind of "nothingness." But in the Buddhist scriptures it is always described in positive terms; the highest refuge, safety, emancipation, peace, and the like. Nirvana is freedom, but not freedom from circumstance; it is freedom from the bonds with which we have bound ourselves to circumstance. That man is free who is strong enough to say, "Whatever comes I accept as best."
Nirvana is the dying of the kammic force. The Buddhist ascends to Nirvana through many stages of the Middle Way, the path of wisdom, morality, and control. There is not space enough here even to mention these phases or the various aspects of the regimen recommended by the Buddha in his vast scriptures; but it may be taken for granted that the life of the conscientious Buddhist is full and rich. Through the cycle of rebirths he ascends, he perfects himself, he conquers his cravings through wisdom and love. Slowly the kammic force ebbs away, the flame dies down.
At the root of man's trouble is his primal state of ignorance. From ignorance comes desire, which sets the kammic force in motion. Hence the way to Nirvana lies through knowledge, and we come again full circle to Dhamma, the Buddha's teachings. For in Dhamma, as truth, lies release from ignorance and desire and perpetual change, and the Buddha has shown us the way to truth.

Beautiful Video. Thank you. Please let me correct you on one information. " Gangaramaya Temple" in Colombo is not the most important Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. Gangaramaya is a modern temple. Temple management has managed to make it in to a "Tourist Attraction " in Colombo. I would say that the Dalanda Maligawa ( Temple of Buddha's Tooth Relic) in Kandy and The Sri Maha Bodhi ( Branch of the tree Buddha sat under when he realise the Buddha Hood in Maha Bodhi in India ) are the most important Buddhist Temples in Sri Lanka. There are so many other archaeologically important and interesting sites all around Sri Lanka, like Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya, if you are interested in the long history of the Island.

That's my tea statement ;-)
