Vulcan 900 Custom with V&H baffles removed... Loud pipes save lives and just annoy the hell out of other folk... tuff decision... My curiosity was peaked and is now satisfied... What you think?...
Got some V&H pipes on order...coming next week (Hopefully) cant wait to pop them on. Also currently riding a VN900 which sound like a Vespa compared to my Old Harley. Hopefully it will sound like a V-Twin once these are on :)
I'm 6'3", and I have a 2007 900 Classic. The bike is a perfect fit. I would go bigger if your gonna have a passenger though. My wife is about 130 lbs, and she said it's uncomfortable for her to ride on the back. Go for the Vulcan 2000. More power, better ride and way more aftermarket parts for it.
Loud Pipes do not save lives and create more confusion. The sound waves are exiting the Bike behind the Motorcycle and the dispersion of sound in an outside space,much like Emergency Vehicle Sirens, confuses Motorists as to exactly where the sound is coming from. This makes Motorists get twitchy with their actions and start jerking their Vehicles around as they are trying to figure out where you are. Lane position and Rider awareness are what keep you visible and accident free.
Youre Dumb, I have been riding/wrenching for 29 years, never owned a Car, and never had an accident involving another vehicle. Nice how you jump to conclusions and assume so much. What I state is FACT not opinion.
Youre an idiot....coming from a new rider, in two months of riding I had twenty incidents where people merged into my lane almost running me off the road because "I couldn't see or hear you, I didn't know you were there!!!"....I'm doing this exact mod once I save the money. Rule number one for riders, watch out for all the dumb bastards in cars.

loud pipes saves life and destroy ur hearing at the same time. trust me my ears hurt so much from only 1 month of loud pipes. takes 6 months to recover my hearing.
Loud exhaust is irritating and doesn't make the bike go faster. In fact it's bad for the valve's on the motor. The manufacturer designed the exhaust that comes with the bike for the proper amount of back pressure and you will have better top end performance. In fact in very cold weather you can actually warp a valve with non stock exhaust. If you love your bike and want it to last a lot longer then keep the stock exhaust on it.
Unfortunately you can't make a compareatively small (8-900 cc) motor sound loud and good, only loud and annoying, like a Ford Pinto that just dropped the exhaust south of the header compared to a V8/big twin..
Bull, I've been riding for 35 years, I've ridden with loud pipes to Extremely Loud Pipes and people will still move over on you, left turn you, you name it the only thing you can rely on to save your life is your smarts
+Danny Scarpati you'll still have those few morons, but I've been saved a few times by revving when some idiot tries to move over. The horns surely don't work. I mostly try to stay out of situations though.
if someone moves over you really have the time to rev and see if that works, im breaking every time and letting him in!!! i will deal with the retaliation later
I've just gotten my license now and I'm looking for a good beginners bike. And a lot of people told me the Vulcan 800/900 would be a smart choice =) Things is I'm 6.2 feet. Does anyone here know if my height is going to be a problem on one of these bikes? Dont want to drive around on wth that lookes like a pocket bike when I'm riding it =p
Loud pipes DO NOT save lives. If you are on a loud bike behind a car, they won't hear you. Some bikes aren't made for loud pipes, they just don't sound right. Too much popping and cackling. I like a good rumble, but not straight pipes.

I have the 2010 Vulcan 900 Classic LT, and I see no purpose in being a public nuisance. I've never been a fan of 'obnoxious'.
Yep, its loud. however, it most certainly does not sound good at all. Put the Baffles back in it and it'll sound a lot better. The cackle is horrible.
