Camper Doug here, in Hart Michigan, just completed a month in the U.P. love your videos and can't hardly wait to get back out west. I now travel in a class C camper 24ft. No tow vehicle. Great job on the new battery system and very "pro" looking "circuit board". I put a 100AH AmpereTime in my truck camper a year ago and bumped up my solar to 225w. In 5 months on the road last summer, I never used anything but solar to charge. Like you, I don't have any high power devices. You should be in great shape with 200 AH. Safe travels.
Nice, Ralph! Good to hear your AmperTime is holding up. So far it's been an amazing improvement, we can leave the lights on and even run the ceiling fan all night now. 😎
Very impressive work on upgrading you system and good that you ran it by an electrician! I hear a pack of coyotes often at home and they sound so creepy and cool at the same time! Beautiful location! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! We agree about the sound of a coyote being creepy and cool at the same time. We sleep better in the van than in a tent when they are close. 😂🐕
Hey guys, love the location and congrats on your new system. I just added a new system to my little C Class. I got the Bluetti 200 Max with 600watts of solar panels. It is self contained and has a 30 amp plug. I can just plug my camper in and, like you, I am a minimalist, so it will run everything I need. I am so excited to get to boondock more now. Congratulations on your new set up. I bet that 600 watts of solar is charging your system up fast! That's good to have especially in the winter when the sun is not as high in the sky. Have a great time boondocking. We hope to see you on the road sometime. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾

Bravo Dave! It’s such an accomplishment learning something new. I wish my eyes didn’t just gloss over when I think at all about the power, electrical system in our r.v.. In early February I spent 3 days in Laughlin (hope you guys got to stop at Grapevine Canyon for the petroglyphs) and then through Searchlight to Nipton to the Mojave Preserve. I just went back to the Mojave Preserve for 3 days on March 1, 2, and 3 and when I get home I find you all have a meet in Lake Havasu City only about 100 miles away from where I was. DANG IT. That's what I get for cutting myself off from the world for a few days. Hope to run into you on the road in the future.
We were so close! We look forward to meeting you on the road in the future! We have not heard about the petroglyphs at Grapevine Canyon. We really like that Searchlight area so the next time through we will try and check it out. Thanks for the tip. 😎
@@oneadVANtureatatime I wonder who made up these rules? Our taxes pay for state and national parks. I thought airspace was ‘free’ of course except for where airplanes take off and land. I have a feeling a protest will be in our future. Do you know their ‘logic’ for these rules? And aren’t rules made to be broken, but the law is the law. Going to prison for breaking a rule…em no. I don’t have a drone, but I like freedom.
great job, Dave. I also bought a amperetime battery last month. That‘s great. It is well package, and customer service so nice. Help me to master the usage process quickly.if anyone want to buy a battery,i will recommend it firstly. It can be easy to install even sb never used this battery.
great job... and those lifepoe batteries are the best, with so many more charges than just a reg lithium batteries. I want to get a Bluetti and panels with the life Poe. That is a beautiful area, I had a friend that lived in Bullhead City AZ which is by Laughlin Nv. I remember driving thru Joshua tree park and driving thru Lamp light... I wish I was there now.... (March 5/6) we are having an ice and snowstorm right now. so, I'll have to scoop snow in the morning, prob 6-8 in....lol... my back is already complaining... Thanks for bringing us along, Safe travels from South Dakota.
I knew it would work when I saw that divider panel. :) It looked like a lot of good planning went on. I didn't hear mention of any alternator upgrade to provide the extra 50A for charging the battery. I put a 40A Renogy DC-DC charger in my minivan and set it to only charge at 20A until I see how my alternator does. It charges full power at idle with no need to rev the engine. BTW thanks for the heads up on that great camping spot, and on the Joshua tree forest nearby.
Thank you! That sounds like a smart idea starting at 20a. We were fortunate to have a friend in a Promaster test the 50a pull in his similar set up for the last 12 months or so with no troubles. That panel design idea came from Glenn. We are so thankful to have his help in this upgrade. 😀
Another awesome video! Great job Dave so nice and neat! If you ever come back to St. Martins, NB we live 3kms from the caves and you're more than welcome to park in our yard. ❤
Thank you, Janet! We are hoping to explore New Foundland at some point. We would love to stop by and say hello on our way up...if fuel prices ever come down 😂
Congratulations Dave your installation looks very Clean and organized. I have been using that brand of batteries for just over a year. It has been flawless so far. I used the Blue Seas circuit Wizard app for a guide to size my wiring and Fuses. If its good enough for the sailors it's good enough for vanlife 😉. I don't know how you did it for so long on the old system, 80 amp hours 😱. Always a thumbs up 👍
Thank you, J.G.!! I don't know how we made 80 amp hours work either! Good to hear you still like your AmperTime batteries after a year! They seem so much less expensive than many other brands. I will check that Blue Seas circuit Wizard app out. Thank you! After all I am a sailor 😂
Hi. Looks like a great place to boondock (with restrooms!) I am not sure if you said what is the nearest town (to get groceries). Is Searchlight, NV the closest town to Six Mile Cove?
Hi Julie, Yes Searchlight is the nearest town and I think it's under 10 miles away from 6-mile cove. There is also a 9-mile cove that you can free camp at as well. 😀
Great video, as per usual. I love seeing the places y'all go and share, places we'll probably . never get to see (I'm 75 yoa and my mrs. doesn't like off grid camping). What size inverter do you have with your system? Thank you ever so much for sharing. y'all stay safe and healthy. Happy travelin'.
Hi Daniel! We are running a 1500 watt sine wave inverter off of our vehicle battery and an 1100 watt inverter off our house battery. Carrie didn't think she would like off-grid living until we started doing it. Maybe there is still hope 😀 If not, we are honored to show you all the amazing places we can find. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
Great job Dave! Hey my credit card got hacked so your Patreon charge didn’t go through this month but I’m going to get that fixed. As usual we enjoyed this episode.
+Norm Hudgens I’m sorry to hear that! Such a pain in the behind isn’t it!! No worries about patron…. Whenever you get a chance to fix it will be fine…. Thank you for letting us know!
Heard it is hard to insure a class c for full timing without having a toad. How does it work getting insurance with a conversion van like yours when your are living in it? Any problems?
We got it registered and insured in South Dakota. It was super easy. He walked in and checked for a bed, sink, toilet, and a stove. I bet it didn't take two minutes. 😎
Not that often but we are about to hit a washboard road that goes for 30 miles. I will air down on this one. The rule of thumb is to drive over 1” square tubing. Let air out until both sides of the tread touch the ground. Sometimes the road will determine how much air for a comfortable ride. I don't like to go down more than half of the required psi.
+Ta Ga thanks for reminding me. The Joshua tree forest spot is only for small vehicles and is more of an off-roading road….. it was a perfect spot for one night but we would caution going much further down the road without some reconnaissance work. Here are the coordinates. Six Mile cove ~ (35.4540670, -114.6784090) Joshua tree forest - (35.5071215, -115.0690007)
Awesome upgrade! Q about the GZ, as I also have the Yeti1400, how much charge was it still getting after 3 years? I'll be heading that direction in April / May so thanks for this vid, can't wait to see Joshua Tree.
I think it hit 4 years with our goal zero as of this month. It will only charge to 96 percent and does not seem to last as long now. Two cloud cover days and we were down to 40 percent charge.
Hi Denise! Roodle is a labradoodle. His dad was an apricot poodle and his mom was a black lab. He is now 6 years old. Thank you for joining our channel! Sorry about the late response. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
Nice job Dave on the power upgrade. Be careful who you believe on power especially from youtube. AC and DC are not the same and if you use a wire not sized correct you can damage the device and the fuse will not trip in time. Hope the new setup works great for you guys. The campsites are great places looks nice. We have coyotes also at night and I play playlists videos for dogs and I to not hear the coyotes, my dogs want to chase them off. You should build a playlist oldest to newest for a new person to binge watch. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you, Badger! Yes, I noticed TH-cam is all over the place on wire size and fuse size. Glenn was a huge help on making sure this was done right. We heard that coyotes will sometimes lure a dog away and ambush with the whole pack..I bet you know if this is true or not! 😂 I just told Carrie your binge-watch play list idea and she said that was a great Idea and she will do it. We lost all of our playlist when we got hacked. I wonder if your dogs would notice Roodle on your tv. 🐕🎾😎
@@oneadVANtureatatime A female coyote or wolf will try and lead a male dog in to pack ambush and the pet is dinner, My dogs do notice Roodle but they mostly hear the videos they do not watch the tv much, my sons cat will sit beside me and watch some videos. I run playlists for background noise for the dogs when we are busy also, they do not care if the commercials play.. Just remember the fuse will blow from heat from to much draw on the circuit, if the wire is to large the resistance will not buildup and the fuse will not blow until the device is damaged. To small or to big of a wire is not good. An RV fire from a device short circuit is really bad. Be safe.
+Sandra S the current gas prices are definitely on our minds! We usually stay in a spot for 4-7 days but now we are slowing down and pushing that to 7-10days (it’s hard for us to stay in one spot but we are working on this) it really needs to be longer….it’s a work in progress. We also find ourselves traveling shorter distances from location to location.
For you,, for all your viewers,, When you visit Lake Mohave,, always take an extra trash bag along an fill with any trash you can find. @@oneadVANtureatatime It is a beautiful trip,, from the base of the Hoover to Katherine's landing. I canoe. It is a slow way to travel. A way made for being observant. When the winds kick up hard,, many beaches, tiny to large, many people to no people, you stay put,, enjoy the day, and a desert to walk and explore. You chose a wonderful place.

Great work!
More and more areas are restricting drone flights as time goes. It's nearly a full-time job doing the research if we can fly in some areas.
Thank you. 👍😀
Right on, Andrew! They seem to be a good mix of quality and price! 😀
great job... and those lifepoe batteries are the best, with so many more charges than just a reg lithium batteries.
I am actually jealous of your snowstorm! I would shovel it for you if I was there.
new to the channel. I'll have to check out 6 Mile Cove. Looks awesome
Welcome to the channel, Barry! We hope you will enjoy our videos. Let us know if you have any questions.
Impressive!
Thank you, Mark! 😀
Great work, Dave! I've been looking at that area on the map for a few years. I'll definitely have to spend a couple weeks there. 👍
Thank you!! I hope you do come here, add a couple of palm trees and it would be paradise! An awesome winter retreat! 😎
Hi! Is the road doable for 2x4 van? TIA
What size inverter did u get? That setup looked super sweet - clean and detailed.
We have 2 inverters. One is 1500 watts and the other in 1100 watts. Both are sine wave to protect our computer and camera gear.
@@oneadVANtureatatime thank you, hope you have many more wonderful adVANtures.
Do you deflate tires for bad washboard roads? If so how much? Thanks
Could you please share the coordinates of your camping spot at the beginning of the video? Please!!! And that lake spot?
+Ta Ga thanks for reminding me. The Joshua tree forest spot is only for small vehicles and is more of an off-roading road….. it was a perfect spot for one night but we would caution going much further down the road without some reconnaissance work. Here are the coordinates.
Six Mile cove ~ (35.4540670, -114.6784090)
Joshua tree forest - (35.5071215, -115.0690007)
@@oneadVANtureatatime Awesome!! Thank you 🙏🏻💕💕💕💕
Awesome upgrade!
Hey guys what do you use for a GPS device?
Pretty much just our phones but we also love the app onXhunt. We do need a GPS location device for hiking and remote camping.
I’m new to your Channel. What breed is your pup?
Hi Denise! Roodle is a labradoodle. His dad was an apricot poodle and his mom was a black lab. He is now 6 years old. Thank you for joining our channel! Sorry about the late response. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
Do Lithium batteries drain slower? and thanks again for the info, Great vid as always!
Hi Steven. I would say they drain the same speed but you can use the entire battery instead of just the top 20 percent which is huge! 😎
Be safe.
Is 4x4 needed or can 2wd make it?
we make it in our van that is not 4X4...watch out for some of the roads as they can be very sandy. At the time this road wasnt to bad.
Right on the Colorado River, and light pollution b/c 60 miles as crow flies from Las Vegas…
Yes! Vegas to the north and Laughlin to the south. 😀
How are ya'll dealing with the high gas prices? Has it changed your travel routines?
+Sandra S the current gas prices are definitely on our minds! We usually stay in a spot for 4-7 days but now we are slowing down and pushing that to 7-10days (it’s hard for us to stay in one spot but we are working on this) it really needs to be longer….it’s a work in progress. We also find ourselves traveling shorter distances from location to location.
👍
For you,, for all your viewers,, When you visit Lake Mohave,, always take an extra trash bag along an fill with any trash you can find. Lake Mohave,, particularly the upper reaches, is perhaps,,, about,, the messiest shoreline of the entire Colorado River. If all of us pick up a bit extra,, it will help greatly.
Awesome advice! We love doing our part to keep places like this open to the public. I wish we would have mentioned this in the video. Thank you! 😀😀😀
🤗
That panel makes my brain hurt!
Yes! That's how I felt a few weeks before starting this project! 😂😂
Oh man you found my spot
Nice Rick! I want to check out 9-mile cove next time through. 😎
Yeah, battery upgrade.
I feels so good to have that extra power! We were tired of being the light police😂
❣️✌️✌️❣️
WHY IS ONE ADVANTURE AT A TIME BACKWARDS ON YOUR SHITR??
The iPhone does that when we film 😂
"Cat", here, Guys! Another grrrrrrrreat video! Love the project and the area! BUT? I am surprised you did not mention the problems all along the Mexican border, especially at bodies of "aqua", H2O, essential-to-life water, caused by the ruthless, very dangerous (murders and such) South American gang MS-13? This is a very serious problem! That goes and comes! So serious, we DO NOT go to the soithern border area during winter, anymore at all?
