I went in expecting Silly Billy, not... this feels like all those powerful 90's tracks, the grunge tracks that you listen to over and over, making you think, while the instrumentals power on and keep that slow, but steady adrenaline up. It's powerful, but the power is melancholy. And that adds, so, so much.
There really is a certain aura to House Of Mirrors for me, you're not alone there. Something about it is so wonderful and calming but there's this air of sadness behind everything. The intensity of the chorus and bridges only help excentuate the feelings already there in the verses, and everything folds together to form a quiet scream. One of someone who pretends to be ok, but is completely broken deep down. It feels like you can hear what he's really feeling in the instrumental despite the relaxed tone of his singing, it's so powerful. That guitar riff at the beginning will always get me though, I've never heard anything quite like it before. Truly an amazing track that deserves more love
